The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.

Dani was walking home from a friend's house, when Dawn crossed her path. Dawn was also walking home from a friend's house. "Excuse me, I'm sorry," Dani immediately spoke - then realized she knew the girl from somewhere. "I know you, don't I? You're Dawn, right? I'm Dria's younger sister Dani. How are you? Dria will want to know how you and the others are doing?"

Dawn startled to know that she had run into Dria's little sister, interested to know that Dria still cared about her and the other foster kids, and [i[honestly? a little hurt that she didn't call more often, or came. From what Dawn understood, Dria and Dani's family was sort of rich and upcoming - I mean, their parents did own Bones Engineering!

Dani saw the hurt look on Dawn's face, and instantly knew what was wrong. "I'm sorry, Dawn and I know she is, she got a lot on her plate lately - especially switching to DCU, and well..uh,,, some of her side projects--"

Dawn was a little peaked - "Can't she give up one or two of her side projects to see old friends-"

Dawn's angry remarks could be heard some distance away (and she felt guilty yelling at a young girl...)

Dawn paused, hearing someone cry out. Dani looked alarmed. "Did you-" "I did..look I'm sorry-" "We'll discuss it later, let's go!"

They ran towards the voice they heard, and there, they found a small cat splayed out on the ground, in horror, they both saw the light-colored star upon her head - she was an Order Mauvian -their eyes flickered to each other's, and they realized immediately that they each knew what she was, and that this was a bad thing.

It was Dawn who spoke first, "Order Mauvian, are you alright?" She looked for wounds or injuries, to see if she could find out what had happened, and how to take care of the Guardian. She turned angrily to Dani. "Do you not care that this Guardian is hurt? Why are you just standing around?"

Dani frowned, evidently either Dawn was a just a basic stage warrior of Order, of whatever Faction she belonged to and even as a Chibi Super, Dani surpassed her in experience or Dawn was a Healer type or both. "For one thing, I know very little about healing except first aid. You seem to know far more than that." Dani said calmly. Continuing, she said, "I also not just 'standing around' as you say. Someone or something hurt this Guardian, like you just said. Where is it now, I ask you? Is it hiding in wait for us now, to attack us?" Dawn was amazed at battle-wise this young girl was.

Dani spoke once more, "Be on your guard, Dawn, watch the fireflies - something is strange here!"

Dawn looked up, now confounded - fireflies? Watch the fireflies For minute she had thought the girl battle-wise - but 'watch the fireflies...

Then out of the corner of her eyes ... she saw a firefly's light turn blue... what the ...? Her head snapped around and noticed all the fireflies' lights were changing colors...

Dani frowned for a moment, looking at Dawn then revealed herself. "I am a Chibi Senshi, I have just not powered up yet. My name is Dani." She felt it was best not to give out too much information just yet.

Dawn seemed to come to realize some things, then spoke, "I too, am a White Moon Senshi and I have just not powered yet either. My name is Dawn." She let out a sigh, then said with remorse, I'm the one doing the all the fighting... and it's not Dani that I'm frustrated with - and I was wrong to take my anger out on her. See her older sister and I used to be friends - it's a long story - but she was separated from her family and her memories and she came to stay where I and my twin brother live ... a place for kids without families ...or even whose families don't want them." Here she paused, and anger and sadness clogged her eyes or just a moment and then was gone. "We were friends. Then suddenly, her family finds her, her twin brother, her little sister and parents and aunt, and suddenly she has her memory back. Her family is well off, and we never see each other anymore, she's going the University and has a lot of side projects... and has no time for us..., I guess I was feeling some rejection... and then I didn't understand Dani's er battling styling (which now make a lot of sense) ...I'm sorry Dani."

"I totally understand, been there myself. Coco, do you feel like you can stand? Let's (the three of us) work together and come up with a plan to er... dealing with these things."

Dani and Dawn looked at each other in confusion and suddenly spoke at the same time saying that they were sorry for the mistake.

Dawn then said, "I was awakened last year alongside my twin. Although, I don't think we ever received Senshi Phones or anything."

Dani then murmured something. "What did you say, Dani - you were Awakened at 9-years-old? You've been a Chibi Sailor that long?" Dawn didn't seem angry or anything but impressed. "What rank are you..." "Ah.. Chibi Super." Dawn's eyes widened with realization - no wonder this girl knew battle tactics - like to observe a situation first especially if you come upon an injured party - and make sure there are no hidden dangers or anything strange going on.

Dani changed the subject, "Are there dangers around here, Coco, that we should power up for? And by the way, I'm glad you are okay. " She smiled.

Dani grinned. She spoke again, "Coco, do you have a place to stay, at least to tonight?

Dawn looked worried as well.

Dani frowned and thought about it. "I would love to give you a home. There are several problems. 1st one is that we are already crowded. We live in a four-bedroom house. Mom and Dad have one room. Aunt Dia has a room to herself. My older brother Drew, who is an Eternal White Moon Senshi who is 21 and a Police Officer shares a room with our 20-month-old twin brothers, Dell and Den. Dria, twin sister of Drew, a very experienced Super White Moon Senshi, who is also 21 and is a student at Destiny City University, shares a room with yours truly. And the last resident of the house, is Drew's bonded Mauvian, Darius Ammun - who is actually just a Kitten - so you would have company - though it's not the company you might like the most."

"The other problem is that Mom, Dad, and Aunt Dia have no idea that we are Senshi - they have no idea what a Senshi is. So, you would have to be silent part of the time. Oh, and Dell and Den are starting to recognize things- they understand that Dari can talk, they know that the four of us are a group.... We have to be careful around them these days - or they just might spill the beans accidently. If you are willing to work with all that... I believe you would be welcome to stay at my house - I think I can talk my parents into it."

Kicking a stone in frustration, she looked to Dawn, and didn't notice as a Star Charm went flying.

"Well, my house is a bit larger - as it was built to be a home for kids... without a proper home..." Dawn said quiet. "My foster mother is Laurie Brox and she looks out for us, we call her D.D. She actually adopted one of us years ago, and he lives with us, his name is Kane, who is about 19. I live there with my twin brother Davie (we are 17), who is also a Sailor Scout - though I don't know if anyone else is powered. There's 8-year-old Kate, and 14-year-old twins, DJ and JJ. I don't know that it would be much better... 'cause we'd have to get special permission from the state to have a cat, but at least you could have a place to for a few nights." She frowned also.
