Ever since their meeting at Venus Day, Kadri and Laoise had remained fast friends. They met often for picnics, exploring the lakebed, and your basic teenager and young adult shenanigans. Kadri had definitely developed a crush on her, but he'd held her at arm's length for a long time. He didn't want to end up like his mother, who'd spent so many tides pining after her first love before finally finding The One. Kadri hadn't wanted to lock it in too soon. So he'd spent a number of tides seeing what other "fish in the sea" the Lake had to offer. And...frankly, he'd been disappointed. He'd had some fun with pretty boys and pretty girls, but nobody could replicate that spark he felt around Laoise. He always just kept coming back to her.
So, today was the day. He was finally going to tell her how he felt, and hope that she still felt that way too after all this time they'd spent as "just friends". They'd planned a picnic together, and Kadri was finishing gathering everything up. He tucked his floursack (never went anywhere without it!) into a backpack he'd fashioned from knotted kelp and slung it over his shoulders. Next the basket of snacks and drinks, his flute, and a bracelet he'd picked out as a gift the last time he was at the market. Okay. Ready.
He swam out to their usual meeting place and arrived a few minutes earlier than they'd agreed to get everything set up. He wanted this to be perfect. He set his floursack down, propping it against a rock close by, and set out the snacks and drinks. The bracelet he kept hidden, as a surprise.

Dream
In the time between the first meet at the Venus celebration to now, Laoise had found herself sneaking out more, against her parents’ wishes, to meet up with Kadri. Whether it was to show off something brand new done had found or to share a sweets that they had received at some point. Even seaweed cookies were the height of delicacy for them with its’ sumptuous delicious sweetness. On a beautiful day like today, with the sun making the waters shine under the water, the young female had made her way once again to go see her close friend. Close friend… her cheeks blushed a glowing green as her tail furled and unfurled, allowing to pick up speed traveling along the water currents propelling her happy to her destination for today. Even the flour sack was deemed a happy one, being strapped to her.
The female had arrived when she had used the light water current to travel, allowing her to arrive moments before Kadri is due to arrive. It would be the first time she was on time, and a mischievous thought had popped up. How about a prank on the young male? Surely he would find such a jest funny!! The glowing green female put her flour sack propped up against a smooth rock surface to protect the delicateness of its’ cloth skin. She squeaked, hearing Kadri coming and rushed to hide in the small kelp forest, peeking out to decide when to ‘pop’ out and surprise the other adult!
Almost… almost… Laoise had thought to herself, her body tingled with such delicious anticipation! She shuddered, watching and attracting some attention of nearby small fishes. Almost! she squeaked excitedly. When the blond male came into view and started looking around, she darted out from the small kelp forest and squealed. “Surprise, Kadri!!!! Did I get you?! Were you scared?!”

Kadri had just laid out the blanket when he'd heard a soft rustling sound and suddenly Laoise appeared! "Dyah!" He yelped, startled, throwing and then luckily catching the basket of snacks. "Laoise!" He exclaimed, laughing. "I almost threw our lunch!" He set the basket down to give her a brief hug. "Growing up with Sindri means I've been jumped at many, many times, so I wasn't scared, but you did get me," he continued with a chuckle.
"C'mon, now that you're here, help me set all this out." He sat on the blanket and started pulling things out of the basket. Laoise was always full of surprises...one of many things he loved about her.

Dream
Laoise giggled, swimming up to the young male and did a twirl in the water, spurning a current around her before she proceeded to swim around Kadri.
Sweet Kadri and his antics. Ever since they were teenagers, she found him to be a great pae'il to talk to that was not her parents and her brothers. They were good and all, but too close to let loose on and given subject.
The young female looked to Kadri, giving a nod. "Awesome!" she giggled once more, flicking her tail to propel herself forward, chest first to gain speed before doing another turn in the waters before settling down, perusing the basket that the male had brought. Her eyes glanced over the colorful foods, smacking her lips. "This looks so good!"

After they'd eaten, Kadri's body language started to get a little more tense and nervous. It was time to tell her, but he worried about what she'd say. She was so playful and carefree--was she going to want to have a serious conversation? He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair. Best to get it all out, everything in the open.
"Laoise," he began, scooting closer to her and taking one of her hands in his. "I, er, I know I haven't been very, um, consistent in our friendship lately, and I wanted to apologize for that. The truth is," his voice cracked and he cleared his throat nervously. "The truth is that I've...." He paused, blushing. "I've....I've had feelings for you for a while now. More than friendship. And I hid it because I didn't really....didn't really know what to do with that. I didn't know what it meant. You know I've been, like, dating around, I haven't really kept that secret. But....Laoise, nobody makes me feel the way you do. It's only you. It's always been you." He squeezed her hand gently, his eyes shining hopefully.
"So I invited you out here today to ask...if you wanted to be...more than friends...with me." Kadri bit his bottom lip. Not a great finish, but it's what he got. He found himself leaning toward her slightly, anticipating her response.

Laoise unfurled her tail before tightening it up again, moving to settle herself in front of Kadri. He was seemingly nervous, she had noticed that by the way his voice kept dropping and cracking. "Kadri, you ok?" she asked, moving to put a hand onto his as a comfort. "Do you need something to eat?" the young female added, handing over her half-eaten biscuit, it always had warmed her stomach and made her felt better afterwards.
When the young male finally revealed his true intentions of meeting with her today, the feelings that were stuffed inside him came to light; it was puzzling for Laoise. She had seen her daddy do the same thing with her mama, all fumbling about and nervous before being wholly affectionate. Now... Kadri was doing it too. And she was surprised. "Me?! " she said as a long last response to his question. "More than friends? ...like my Mama and Daddy?" the youngling asked, her cheeks glowed a bright green in blushing.
