Wolf
A wolfish young male approached Koehaira. He had never seen this village before, well he really only had seen one other village before. Remy had been told by his sister, Aurelia, that there was a pae living here that had features like them. It was a curious and exciting bit of information, But his initial response was not 'Oh, I must go meet them right away.' Maybe that would have been Sirius' response, if his slightly envious brother couldn't be a wolf himself, maybe he could have little wolf babies with someone else.

As Remy was getting things ready for his own move-in with his long time girlfriend he realized that it might be a fun little trip for him to go visit Koehaira too, maybe he could pick up a bottle of wine as a present for Soliel. He hadn't forgotten about the wolf girl though and he did hope that he might run into her while he was here.

Mene
Lucky for Remy, said wolf girl was always out and about in Koehaira. Miriam was, as always, walking about the town, delivering letters and parcels, mostly from the City. A letter for Eniko (from one of many admirers, of course), a small parcel for Masozi (probably a gift for Coracias because he was a tryhard), some stuff for the Tangled Vine, and the rest was for Mother, which wasn't unusual. She caught a glimpse of the colorful wilwarin, but unlike when she'd met her new friend Aurelia, she didn't immediately shriek and run to meet him. This was different, because this was a guy.

Be cool, she told herself, though her tail gave her away by wagging. Miriam kept walking on her path toward the tavern, bag slung across her shoulders and a parcel under her arm. She tried to catch his eye, and when she did, she'd give her best wolfish smile and duck into the Tangled Vine. Let him chase her.

Wolf
Alright, where would someone buy a bottle of wine around here? Remy wondered as he made his way around the village. He was surprisingly still for himself, probably because he was in such an unfamiliar place, but when he caught a glimpse of another fluffy tail he felt all of his energy surge. That must be her! His tail wagged in response. Remy waved as she smiled at him, and then...

Wait, what?! She was gone. Remy narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, and his tail stopped wagging abruptly. He knew she had seen him... Was this a game? His tail wagging again, he ran over to the...Tangled Vine, the sign said. He entered the place, his head swirling around and ears flicking all over the place looking for the girl.

Mene
Miriam was finishing up at the counter, giving the tavern's mail to the manager. She caught the wolf boy's eye again and smiled. Although now she'd backed herself into somewhat of a corner, as she couldn't get back out without going directly past him, and it would be hard to keep up the chase that way. But she could try. She straightened her bag and headed for the door, with a "pardon" in her best husky tone as she brushed past him, tail wagging playfully.

Wolf
Remy's head tilted, looking kind of goofy as she smiled at him. The wolf girl walked towards him, or so Remy thought. "Hi, you must be..." He started talking excitedly. And then she walked past him. Tail. Droop. "Wait!" he called after her.

Remy took quick note that this might be someplace he could buy a wine bottle from, but he would have to take care of that later. Right now, his hunting instincts had been activated. With a determined look he whirled around and was back outside of the Tangled Vine.

Mene
Miriam's next stop was Masozi's place to drop of this box of whatever. She wasn't running, per se, but she was definitely moving with some speed. Tail wagging, she hummed as if she were just going about her business, gently setting Masozi's parcel on porch near the door, then hopping off the step and turning abruptly down a side path. She'd see if this boy could keep up with her. In another part of her mind, she wondered if he might be related to her new friend Aurelia. She'd said she had siblings, but Miriam couldn't remember if she'd said brothers or sisters. But she moved that thought aside for now to focus on this "chase".

Wolf
This was one way to get a tour of Koehaira. It probably looked really horrible that Remy was chasing after this girl, but Remy had grown up on his family's land and had less idea of social norms and what was appropriate. Besides, her tail was still wagging, she clearly wasn't frightened of him. He did have the right mind that it was probably not a good idea to pounce, which is something he might have done when playing with his own siblings, but she was still a stranger.

"I'm going to catch up to you eventually!" He called after her as he made his turn down the side path.

Mene
Miriam was delighted, she hadn't had this much fun in ages. Her heart was racing. She could handily outpace him, she figured, but she did want him to catch her, that was the fun part of the chase. So she rounded another corner that she knew lead to a dead end and ran to the end before stopping, her back to the wall.

Wolf
Remy's breath was heavy as he made his best attempt to keep up. He had just gone on quite the walk to get to this village and now he was chasing this wolf girl around, who knew where she was going much better than he did. He wasn't the type to give up so easily though.

Relief passed through him as he realized they had hit a dead end. He stopped a few feet in front of her, taking the moment to catch his breath. "Got you," he exclaimed playfully. Although he wouldn't have been surprised if she did some crazy acrobatics to get out of the corner, he just couldn't imagine she would let herself get caught so easily.

Mene
Miriam smiled wolfishly. "Oh dear," she said, feigning distress. "What're you gonna do with me?" Her eyes glinted mischievously.

Wolf
A look of confusion passed over Remy's face. He glanced from side to side, someone might actually think he was going to eat her or something, but they were alone. "Well, I'm probably not going to eat you." He laughed, "But that sure was fun!" Remy said with a boyish expression.

Mene
Good Guardians boys were stupid sometimes. She quickly ran through a series of possible responses before landing on the one that was, to her, the most obvious. "Oh, you're not?" she asked, putting one finger on her chin. "But I bet I'm delicious." She raised her eyebrows suggestively, hoping he'd catch on.

Wolf
"Oh, I..." Remy felt so stupid as he made sense of her response. She wasn't actually one of his siblings. Of course he would give the wrong impression by chasing another pae through the village, even if they were someone that was like him.

Remy was fiercely loyal to Soliel though, so he needed to come clean, as awkward as it was going to make this introduction. "I thought we were just playing a game, I have a girlfriend."

Mene
Miriam's facial expression completely changed. She threw her hands up and groaned. "Of course you do," she said, then pulled her hands down over her face. "Well now I'm just embarrassed," she said, leaning against the wall and crossing her arms over her chest. Would it be too much to ask for the next cute guy to show up to be single? She sighed, blowing a puff of air up toward her hair.

"Well, now that I've made the complete wrong first impression, hi and welcome to Koehaira, I'm Miriam."

Wolf
Of course you do? Remy took a moment to inflate his ego, but ultimately he felt kind of bad since she was embarrassed and the whole thing was really his fault. Sometimes he wished he could act like a normal pae. "I have more brothers?" He offered sheepishly.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have chased you. Sometimes I think with my tail instead of my head." Remy said sadly, "I was hoping to meet you though, Miriam, my sister told me about you! I'm Remy."

Mene
"Yeah, don't we all," said Miriam with a dark chuckle. At the mention of her new friend, though, she perked up. "Oh! You must be Aurelia's brother!" Her tail wagged happily. She really was happy to make more friends. She made a mental note to take another trip to Partayzia soon to "drown her sorrows", then pushed the thought of cute boys away. "Can I show you around? I'm almost finished with my rounds for the day."

Wolf
Phew, Remy was relieved that bringing up Aurelia might have saved this meeting from being a complete disaster. "Yeah, Aurelia really liked you," he wouldn't have been surprised if Aurelia had chosen to move here, but who knew what her boyfriend would want, he was an interesting guy.

"Oh yeah, that would be great!" His tail wagged back in response, "You are doing some sort of delivery thing?" That was the most he could gather from all of the stops Miriam had made while he chased her around the village.

Mene
"I'm Koehaira's courier," agreed Miriam proudly. "I deliver parcels from all over the island! Well, mostly from the City. But sometimes folks get something from like, Partayzia or Sunrise Terrace. Maybe Breeheart. I've only got a couple stops left to make. C'mon!" She made a motion with her hand and then started in the direction of Eniko's place. Just the one letter for her, then she'd show him where she lived and deliver the rest of her stuff for her mother. "So what brings you here?" she asked as they walked.

Wolf
Remy nodded his head, he would have to let his parents know about such a thing so that they can all keep in touch after everyone moved out. He continued to follow her, relieved to be moving at a more normal pace now. "I'm getting ready to move into one of the other villages with my girlfriend. I thought I would see what some of the other villages are like, but I wanted to come alone so that I could pick up a bottle of wine as a surprise, welcome home kind of present, for my girlfriend." He explained.

Mene
Miriam couldn't help a bit of a giggle. "Well you're in the right place for that. Here, I'll help you pick a good one." She went up the stairs to her own house and opened the door and plopped her bag with the rest of the mail inside the door. "My mother's the village leader," she explained as she did a little jump off the porch. "And the rest of that stuff is for her." She clapped her hands as if dusting them off. "So where are you moving to?" she asked. She did want to keep in touch with her new friends, after all.

Wolf
Remy's eyebrows shot up, "oh, that's good because I know nothing about this stuff. I've had some wine at the Venus party, but I don't feel like that means much."

Wow, Miriam's mom was in charge of the village? What a small island. "Huh, I'm actually moving to the village that my girlfriend's parents lead: Star Grove."

Mene
Star Grove? Miriam wasn't sure she'd heard of that one. "Don't think I've been there!" she said cheerfully. "Where's it at?"

Wolf
Remy was surprised she hadn't heard of Star Grove, but then again it was all the way on the other side of the lake. "It's ALL the way on the other side of the lake," he said. "I wonder if it would have been faster to take a boat across... Although I guess the lake dwellers wouldn't be too happy about that." Remy gave his shoulders a small shrug.

Mene
"Ohhh," said Miriam with a dawn of realization. "Yes, that makes sense. And I see boats out on the Lake all the time," she said. "I think they mostly keep to the edges, though?" she suggested. "I certainly wouldn't want to be on a boat over the deepest part of the Lake. Yeesh." She did a dramatic little shiver. "Anyway, what's it like? I've never been that far for sure."

Wolf
Remy didn't spend enough time by the lake to see that boats were on the lake more than he expected. Maybe there was already a boat that ferried pae across the lake and he just didn't know about it. "There's a big mill there next to the water" he remarked, trying to think of the ways that it was different, he was pretty sure it was one of their 'major landmarks'. "most of the houses are up in the trees, and there's a market," If there was a big open market here in Koehaira, Remy hadn't seen it yet. "I don't have much to compare it too, but it seems much different than here."

Mene
"What does the mill do?" she inquired. Miriam tried to imagine houses up in trees and just....couldn't picture it. She'd have to visit someday to see for herself. She began steering them toward the grocer, which was similar to a market in that you could buy things, but much smaller.

Wolf
Remy wasn't entirely sure how it worked, it was beyond him. "Well there is a huge wheel, and the water makes it turn. I haven't been inside though, so I don't know what happens there, but Soliel told me it's where they make flour." Remy hadn't decided how he wanted to help out around her village yet, but maybe the mill wasn't the right place for him. "It is pretty neat to watch it go around though, And I don't usually sit still for much." He said with a laugh.

Mene
"Flour!" repeated Miriam, fascinated. "That sounds super interesting. I'll have to visit soon!"

"Here's the grocer," she said, opening the door for Remy to allow him to enter. "Most of our wine sales are like, wholesale in large quantities to other people who sell them more locally, but here's where you can pick up just one or two bottles." She waved to the grocer and led Remy to a wall of various wine bottles, then gave a silly little expansive gesture.

"So, does your girlfriend like sweets, or not so much?" she asked. That was usually the easiest place to start.

Wolf
"Yeah, that would be great if you visited!" Remy agreed. He nodded along to what she said, glad that he had his own personal tour guide to explain these things. And then he saw the wall of wine. "I don't know why I expected this to be easy," he gaped at the wall. "Hmmm, sweets like fruit," he commented.

Mene
"Mhm, mhm," nodded Miriam. She was no sommelier but she'd grown up around all this so she felt like she could help a total novice make at least an educated choice. "So you're going to want something from this sort of section," she said, motioning to a particular set of shelves. "Probably choose something light in color, or one of the fruit wines, those are pretty new but they're tasty if you like sweet drinks."

Wolf
Remy's ear shifted, "Hm," he said thoughtfully, moving closer to the wall to where Miriam had shown. He observed the different wines, the varying colors, but ultimately it was going to be a shot in the dark still. Just less of a shot in the dark than it was before he had met Miriam. He closed his eyes and stuck his hand out and grabbed a bottle from the appropriate shelf. "Let's go with this one!" He said, wondering if Miriam had at all noticed the way he had gone about deciding.

Mene
The wine Remy had selected--a syrupy and floral peach wine--seemed like a very romantic feminine choice, but also wasn't representative of their wine selection. "Here," said Miriam. "Get this one to go with it," she said. She pulled a bottle of red off the shelf as well. If his girlfriend was into bold choices, which Miriam assumed she was as she was dating a wolf--then a red might be to her liking as well. "The peach one there'll be good on its own, just like having a date picnic or whatever. This red one is good for having with a meal, especially anything like, meaty."

Wolf
Remy looked at the label of the wine bottle he had selected as Miriam spoke. Ah yes, peaches, the bottle did express that. He nodded his head in understanding about the peach wine but then cracked a smirk for the red wine being good for something meaty. "Someone who speaks my language," he laughed as he took the bottle of red as well. "This one might be more for me than her, but I'm sure she will appreciate the gesture. Thanks!"

Mene
"Not a problem," said Miriam cheerfully, tail swishing casually. "I bet the grocer will wrap the bottles in parchment for you to help keep them from breaking."

Wolf
Remy began to carry the bottles to the counter to purchase them. He wouldn't be able to do as much running and playing around now that his hands were full of these fragile feeling bottles, even once they were wrapped. "Is there anything else I should check out in Koehaira before I leave?" He asked.

Mene
"Oh, sure, lots of things!" exclaimed Miriam. She listed off a few, then as they exited the grocer she decided to give him the Grand Tour. They spent most of the afternoon together, touring the village and the vineyards, and by the time it was time to say goodbye Miriam really felt like they were friends!
