Personality: Rastel is the definition of the strong, silent type. While he may be very polite and respectful, the colosseum champion is a man of few words and doesn't care much for long conversations. He became a hunter mainly because he enjoys the peace and quiet of being in the wilderness, and it's not uncommon for him to leave for days or even weeks at a time when the mood strikes him. As the grandson of the tribe's chief, he has many duties to tend to and he takes great pride in representing his people. He is aware that he is among the favorite candidates to take over for his grandfather once the chief retires, but Rastel is content with where he is at the moment. He doesn't need much to be comfortable.
Personal Skills: Rastel is a highly respected hunter and tracker, with a wide skillset that reflects this. He has impeccable reflexes, athleticism, and is also an expert marksman. He has eyes like a hawk, and is capable of seeing both at a great distance as well as in dark conditions. He knows how to swim, fish, cook, sew and perform first aid. Although he can't sing at all, Rastel is also a gifted player of the lute.
Family: Rastel's mother and father both live on Mt. Snicket, though they live in the main village while he has his own cabin further out of town. His younger brother and sister are both traveling the world as trainers, and his grandfather the chief also has his own home on the island.
Hometown: Rastel is Mt. Snicket born and raised. He traveled around as a trainer when he was younger but has since come home to roost.
Biography: Rastel grew up living side by the side with both Pokémon and nature, as is tradition in his tribe. His grandfather, the tribe's chief, saw great potential in his grandson, and took extra care when teaching the boy about their traditions and history. Rastel took all of it in and was delighted to embrace his roots, though he wasn't quite prepared for what came next.
At the age of twelve, his father and the chief sat him down and explained to him that they wanted Rastel to leave his home and explore the world for a few years before coming back. This confused the boy, as he had grown up raised strictly in the the traditional way and had little desire to leave. They explained to him that the world outside their island was a big place, and to truly appreciate what they had, it was important for Rastel to travel and experience other cultures. It was an invaluable opportunity to see and learn things that he couldn't at home, and that he would certainly come out a better man for it.
He still had his reservations, but Rastel knew better than to disobey his elders and was gone within the week. At his father's suggestion, he began by exploring the rest of the Kimchi region and was dumbfounded by what he saw. Sure enough, the towns and cities were vastly different from what he was used to. They were packed with people, and largely focused on technology as opposed to nature. That's not to say he didn't enjoy the journey. On the contrary, the young adventurer had a great time exploring the lands of his home country, and delighted in learning all the things he hadn't seen before.
One of the constants throughout his journey was Pokémon, and it was probably the most fun Rastel had ever had. Seeing all the new species that couldn't be found on his island and testing his skills against other trainers was something he just couldn't get enough of. Once he was satisfied with his journey through Kimchi, Rastel asked for permission from his tribe to travel even further beyond so he could experience even more. The elders approved of his decision and once again the boy was off on another adventure.
Rastel travelled through several regions and met all sorts of individuals, returning home after every trip to relay the tales to his family. A year's journey turned into three. Then three became five. Eventually, Rastel had grown into a man and came to the realization that he had spent more years abroad than he had at home. His journeys had forged him into a splendid trainer and individual, but Rastel was starting to become concerned that he would forget his roots if he kept going the way he was. As he returned home once more, he prepared himself for a long lecture from the elders as to how to move forward.
As it turns out, he need not have worried. His grandfather explained that his journeys were a necessity for Rastel to grow strong, and that he would need the skills he had gained for what lay ahead. The elders had been grooming him to serve as the next chief someday, which is why they wanted him to see the world while he was young and had the chance. Now that he was grown, they wanted to test his strength and had Rastel take on the guardian of the Den of Dragons: The mighty Latios. It was a fearsome battle, but Rastel won and earned the tribe's respect. Latios joined his team and the young man was acknowledged by the elders as their islands strongest son.
Now living in his own home on Mt. Snicket, Rastel has begun training to become the next tribe chief in the future, though his record at the islands colosseum has everyone wondering if he shouldn't consider taking on the Pokémon League instead to become an Elite Four or Champion. He's content with what he has now though, so Rastel has no intention of doing anything more until he's good and ready. He's finally enjoying just being home.

Friends: Rastel gets along well with Malayna and the rest of his tribe, but he only has a small circle of individuals that he can call friends.
Rivals: Rastel has a friendly rivalry with both Arthur Mays and Alma Rivers, though it's pretty one sided as neither has yet to best him just yet. They're good enough to keep him on his toes though, and that's satisfying enough for now.
Crushes: He doesn't have anyone in particular in mind, but Rastel is under a lot of pressure by the elders to find himself a good wife while he's still young. Easier said than done.
