Time spent in the temple, or tending to the Hall of Lost Souls is always well spent. Offerings and prayers to the guardians proved a happy daily routine. Just, lately some of the tasks had been harder. Menolly felt more tired than usual. Maybe she wasn't sleeping well? That could be it, a little too much tossing and turning had to be bad for sleep. Her behavior was noticed by a few of the more well meaning members she worked with. The angel was encouraged to go home, eat well and get rest.

Taking that to heart, she returned home and went to creating a feast for Raken and herself. Yawning while working, Menolly made a play with a curried meat dish on a generous pile of rice (at least two scoops pre-missing for a snack). She added a generous helping of carrots. They were going to need more, the angel thought to herself. She could have sworn they bought a whole bushel just a few days ago but they were already almost out. Chalking it up as a memory lapses, she finished dinner and covered it to keep it warm while she waited eagerly for her demon love to return.

Life had fallen into a warm hum. Before he knew it, the frustration he previously felt at being trapped in the City faded away to be replaced with the comforting routine of helping around the town, odd trinket trading and training before heading home where his kind angel waited. The pae here didn't cheer his name anymore as he was now known as just Raken.

But he had always been just Raken to her.

"Lily?" He softly called as he walked into their shared home, a nick he had started calling her. He used to question what happened to him to become so soft, but now he just happily settled into his new life. As he closed the door behind him, be turned towards the kitchen where sounds of cooking chimed. "I picked you up some herbs from the market, I'll make you some tea with it along dinner." He was rather dense in a lot of ways, but seeing as she normally had more energy than he could handle it was obvious when she was suddenly lacking. It worried him. Was she getting sick?

RuSilverDragon — 04/20/2022
Hearing his voice, Menolly popped out and rushed towards him. In one well rehearsed movement, she threw her arms around him. For all those blissful moments, all was well with the world if she could have his arm around her and hers around him. "Welcome home!" Her call came brightly as she held on. He was forever an oasis in the desert, water to a woman dying of thirst.

Holding still a few moments longer, she finally really looked up at him. Golden eyes shining with warmth and love but perhaps just a little less bright. A little redder around the edges from rubbing earlier today in the effort to shake the tired . "Oh tea will be perfect! Dinner is ready when you are." Sitting and resting after dinner should be all she needed. Those mild aches settling in just needed a little rest.

The patter of feet would have been his only warning, if this wasn't already a routine. He quickly opened his arms to receive her, wrapping them around her while keeping the herbs slightly tilted away to keep from being crushed. "Thank you. Did you have a productive day?" Ah, those warm eyes were like quicksand. Pulling him in physically to softly tap his forehead to hers. "I have perfect timing then." He gave her a slight squeeze before letting go, but kept a hand in hers to lead back into the kitchen. Just as she adjusted life to him, he had adjusted to her to provide more skinship. She seemed to thrive on touch, like recharging a battery.

"Is there anything we're running low on that I should pick up tomorrow?" Hard to believe the once stone demon was warmly conversing, making tea for someone else while holding their hand. His family would faint in the spot.

RuSilverDragon — 04/20/2022
"I did!" She chirped though quickly seemed to deflat as her shoulders drooped a little, "I had to come home early," Course she was told to rest if she wasn't feeling great. Turns out listening to that didn't work out, " I put the time to good use on dinner!" Menolly proudly added that last but of industry.

She cooked based on what she was craving but hopefully he'd enjoy it. And hopefully he brought his appetite! "How was your day?"

Happily holding his hand in hers, she stayed in step with him.

His own question was answered quickly, "Carrots!" Probably more but that was the first thing that came to mind. Probably more but her focus was all over the place at the moment.

Tartara — 04/20/2022
He paused slightly at the 'had' in the had to go home early. Was she feeling that ill? "I'll come home early tomorrow and cook us dinner. It's been a while since it was my turn." He knew she enjoyed cooking for him, but if she was feeling sick he should pick up more of the work.

He placed the herbs on the counter so he could work on the tea without letting go of her hand right away. "Smooth. Helped skin some hides for Keliath. He asked about you actually, he wanted more of that bread you made him last time." After getting the cup and filter and pot, he finally let go of her hand to fill it with water to put over the fire for heating up.

Carrots? Didn't he just get a batch the other day? "Carrots. Noted." Maybe she had special plans for them, like a carrot cake so needed a lot of them. "Anything else?"

RuSilverDragon — 04/20/2022
No arguments from her! "Yay!" Her cheer followed a momentary squeeze of his hand. "Tomorrow will be great!" Maybe she should stay back herself, get more rest.

Leaning against the counter, Menolly listened to his day either great interest. Oh! Thinking back about what bread she'd made, Menolly chirpped, "I am glad he liked it so much. I'll be happy to make him more!" That mental note was pinned the nost ine the void that was her brain anymore.

Anything else? "More spices, rice and.." She frowned and puzzled over anything else to add. Unfortunately the hamster running that wheel was in strike waiting for union rights, "Nothing else cones to mind" As a playful gesture, she knocked herself gently on the head with a knuckle. (edited)

He couldn't keep from a small smile at her excitement, so he tried to hide it by turning his head. "When you feel better, we should go out. Maybe a picnic?" The old pae awkwardly suggested a date. He wasn't very romantic, as dates were time that could be spent on more pressing issues. But she liked them. And maybe it would have her try to take it easier to recover faster.

"Alright, spices, rice and carrots. You can let me know if you think of anything else." He reached over and gently knocked on her head too with a hand. "Did it work?" He dryly joked, showing his smile.

Her wings drooped a little. While not exactly trying to hide it, it still hit her that he noticed. The last thing she wanted to do was worry him. That settled it, time to go to the healing house. First thing tomorrow. The Fairy there would put her right to rain. "I can't wait!" Maybe the next day?

His little act brought a parade of giggles. "Nope, though I think you knocked that squrril loose!" She giggled more, her mood all over the place but firmly in the happy realm.

Lifting the covers over the food, she presented half the mystery of the missing carrots, the curry was loaded with them.

The nausea that plagued her recently tended to come at night. This meal would hold her until she regretted it later.

Tartara — 04/21/2022
He was still smiling as he turned to the cup, enjoying the light hearted mood in their humble abode. He carefully put the cloth filter on top and the herbs inside before picking up the hot water pot.

As he worked he glanced over at the pot she had been working on, spying a large quantity of orange

Carrots. Why so many carrots? Somewhere far in the back of his mind, alarm bells were starting to ring. Reminded of a time long ago. But he couldn't put his finger on it. Was there a deficiency linked with wanting more carrots? He poured the water into the cup over the herbs. "It looks good." He offered. It did look good, just very...carroty.

RuSilverDragon — 04/21/2022
Menolly helped put the meals together, her portion going on the lighter side as the queasyness settled in. "Enjoy!" Hopefully he likes the added kick. Her tastes were trending spicier recently.
(We can jump to 'next day' with the big news when you are ready)

Deciding that it would come to him sooner or later, he decided not to dwell on that little uneasiness within him. It could wait another day. For now, he took his meal, handed her the tea, and settled in for a peaceful night just like any other.....

Time skip to tomorrow!

The morning didn't make her feel any better. Maybe she was coming down with something? That thought was terrible, if she was sick, she could get Raken sick!

Motivated, She waited to see him off for the day then went to the healing house. This place reminded her of the vague memories of her childhood- BF Before the Fall.

The avalon Fairy she spoke to took down her symptoms, did a check and offered her the cause. Menolly had to be told twice for good measure.

The Guardians had Blessed them.

The Guardians had Blessed them!!

It took every last shred of her willpower and self-restraint not to find Raken that very second and shout it out to everypae within earshot.

There was no walking home, this angel was floating by excitement alone. The pae she interacted with normally got pretty used to her exuberance. Even some of them seemed confused. Her greetings were louder, smile brighter and bouncing to the point not many could count a moment she was still for a breath.

Each encounter was cut short as she made a bee-line to home. Waiting for Raken was torture but she managed tike by deep cleaning and rearranging everything. Nothing was safe.

Tartara — 04/22/2022
Raken was a creature of habit. He liked to maximize his time so kept to a schedule and made effort to keep to it daily. So when he woke up, they are breakfast together, he kissed Menollys cheek and left with a light chiding of taking it easy today.

The day went by quickly, especially since he promised to come home early so he had to jam a full day into a part day. But he got everything done, hit up the market for the requested carrots and spices, and headed home.

He expected an angel lounging on the couch. He did not expect her on her knees scrubbing the floor. "... Menolly?"

RuSilverDragon — 04/22/2022
Menolly popped up from where she was scrubbing -third time just to be sure. The sudden jump sent her reeling, blood suddenly rushing caused dizziness.

Menolly had to finally stay still for several seconds. It wasn't stopping her from exclaiming "I have news!!!" Best news. No better news.

Tartara — 04/22/2022
He sighed in exasperation as she obviously got dizzy from standing. "Menolly you were supposed to be resting." Apparently the picnic bribe wasn't enough to keep from...

Cleaning? Really?

He started walking to the kitchen to place down his items. He hadn't forgotten he was in charge of dinner tonight. "What is the news?" She was certainly excited about it, more than usual. Did it have to do with the cleaning? Don't tell him family was coming over unexpectedly again.

RuSilverDragon — 04/22/2022
"I couldn't," she protested lightly as the stars in her eyes faded. She had to resist shaking her head to clear out anymore.

The reset breaker switch flipped and she was back. Bouncing up and down, her little wings fluttering half as fast as her heart. She declared brightly, "We are going to have babies!!" She threw her hands in the air and practically squealed with excitement.

Tartara — 04/22/2022
"Yes, I'm sure you couldn't but the babies- what." As the two thoughts meshed together when his train of thought slammed to a halt. For a moment he froze, but his mind was immediately kicking into gear at high speeds. Babies. Nausea, craving for carrots, tired, babies. Menolly was pregnant. Slowly the demon lowered himself to the ground.

He had grand children. How? Did he drink any wine? Guardians. They must have deemed that they should have more children.

After realizing that he had been sitting on the floor rather blankly, Raken couldn't help but laugh. "It must be fate. We have been blessed." And he opened his arms wide for Menolly to jump into.

Menolly watched the knowledge sink in. Rain to bloom happy flowers. It was a huge shock, even she was surprised. Now that it fully sunk in, Menolly couldn't wait to share the joy with him.

He sat on the floor, wirely she though it was a good thing they had been scrubbed first!

She released a breath she didn't know she was holding when he welcomed her and their news with open arms. Falling easily into his arms, she giggled. Then news plus her mood put her squarely in joyful laughs. "We have! Praise to the Guardians!" It could only be their grace that allowed this miracle to occur. Their gift would be throughly treasures. Menolly rested a hand on her stomach. The news came early, no external signs but the knowledge would be enough.

"I've never had kids" that she knew of "I hope to be the best I can be for them." Raken has a family, he raised kids before. The three of them were in safe hands with him.

Where ever her father was in the Guardians embrace, she hoped he was proud to be a grandfather.

Tartara — 04/22/2022
Raken wrapped his arms around the angel as he closed his eyes before gently resting his head upon hers. There were a lot of emotions felt right now for a pae who didn't particularly like mess. "You will be perfect. You've always been perfect." He was worried about the faun, the fact his grandkids will have an aunt or uncle younger than them, and if he was too old to be a parent anew. But even if he denied it, there was a part of him that was excited. And an even bigger part that felt like it was swelling to engulf just about everything else. "I love you Lilly. Thank you for the blessing." He kissed the top of her head. "I hope you won't be too nauseous with what I make for dinner." He spoke dryly, a large smile on his face.

His praise bloomed even more joy. Already fit to burst, it was an idle wonder she could contain so much happiness in one little form. Laughter released some of it. This happy she hardly knew what to do with herself.

"I love you too Raken! I can't wait for this next chapter." She could never do this without him, literally and figuratively! She held him in a snug hug for several more moments to calm her racing heart. Her heart didn't get the memo.

His comment about dinner and nausea earned a chuckle, "That comes after!" She'd need to get up to let him up.

Five more minutes.

It wouldn't be long, just a blink of an eye, before their babies were here.
