What some of your favorite metal bands? Do you have a non metal guilty pleasure band? Also, is metal your all time favorite genre? I love metal but I deff grew up listening to Dead Kennedys and the Ramones so my first love is punk.
Just want to have a casual light hearted discussion with anyone who chooses to participate.

It's so good to see so many new threads popping up. Yes, my all time favorite artist would be Devin Townsend and his various bands. Strapping Young Lad, DTP, DTB and currently his solo projects. Approaching thirty albums thus far. King Diamond is fantastic to say the very least. Guilty pleasures include Hank Sr, Hank Jr, and Hank III.

I've heard the name but I don't think I've listened to any of his stuff that I can recall, I'll have to give it a listen! My favorite metal band is honestly Cradle of Filth I just think their theatrics and stage presence is amazing. My guilty pleasure band is stuff like MSI, and Die Antwoord lmao. I have alot of different musical taste (not to into rap except Tech 9 and stuff like that) but always punk and metal first above all!

Right now, Kauan ranks up there as one of my favorite metal bands. I've probably got more non-metal guilty pleasures than actual favorite metal bands at this point. Coldplay, Sting (Desert Rose is a banger, fight me if you disagree), Aurora, etc. Years ago, metal was probably 80-90% of what I'd listen too, but nowadays, it's a lot more punk/ska/Oi!//folk stuff. Bands like 8*6 Crew, Chumbawamba, Propagandhi, Rude Pride. Though, I did just pick up a vinyl of Mayhem's 'Grand Declaration of War', so I've not abandoned it by a longshot. Just perhaps more picky, but less elitist?

It's not metal by any means, but "Unlimited Love" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is their twelfth studio album to date and sounds like any other Red Hot Chili Peppers record.

An excellent album nonetheless. Better than it's predecessor. The Getaway isn't my favorite of their albums. They sound like their old selves with John Fruscianti back in the picture.

My main guilty pleasure is probably Linkin Park, or at least the sort of stuff they're known for, like Numb. A Thousand Suns is unironically great imo, but everything else I've heard of theirs ranges from solid to complete a**s
Basic b***h picks in taste would be Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Beatles, ELO, Fleetwood Mac. Caveat being that about half of all those discographies are extremely hit or miss
I think off the top of my head, the only other non-metal absolute favorites I have that don't generally let me down and always have something worth hearing: Chromatics, La Sera, and Spiritualized; all absolutely gorgeous and excellent for relaxing; tempted to throw IAMX in there too as an honorable mention
As for metal, KMFDM, Porcupine Tree, Nine Inch Nails, Psychostick, Dethklok, I'm sure there's plenty others. Devin Townsend is promising so far. I'm a little intrigued by a bunch of new groups I'm discovering
