Layout
The Train Graveyard map is largely linear in its path, though its areas lead through and over abandoned carriages, making it more complex to navigate. The map is divided into four main parts: Switchyard 2, the Maintenance Facility, Switchyard 1, and the Freight Storage at the very end.

The Train Graveyard's main area is listed as the "Old Sector 7 Station - Switchyard" on the map, while the upper level of the Maintenance Facility is listed as the "Maintenance Facility - 2F".

Switchyard 2
Switchyard 2 is the visited in "A Train Wreck", and is the first area visited from the Sewer System, and is divided into Section C, Section B, and Section A.

Section C

Vending machine and bench.

Switchyard 2 - Section C.

The start of the map contains a bench and vending machine, and a ladder up to the top of the first abandoned carriage. The path from here leads through several abandoned carriages that can be traveled through and around to the northeast path to Section B.

Past the second carriage is an open area where wererats are fought, and the path forks: at the northeast end is a ladder leading east and further along with the mission, while the southeast end leads through an abandoned carriage to an area on the other end where a treasure chest contains the Mythril Rod Mythril Rod for Aerith Mythril Rod treasure from FFVII Remake.

In the northeast end, a warehouse makes a noise when seen from a distance, leading to "Someone's There". After approaching it, cripshays are fought by a warehouse leading to Section B.

Section B

HP Up materia location.

Entered through a warehouse from Section C, and mostly comprises a linear but zig-zagging path to Section A. After the first abandoned carriage is traveled through is an open area where wererats are fought, and the path leads in different directions. East leads through an abandoned carriage to a chest with 1 gil, while north leads up a ladder to continue forward to an area where cripshays are fought.

Just before the exit at the northeast, a path leads west to where an HP Up Materia HP Up Materia can be obtained, and at the end is a ladder up to the top of an abandoned carriage.
Section A
Train Graveyard Section A from FFVII Remake.jpg
Comprises a single path across abandoned storage containers leading to the area in front of the Maintenance Facility. Aside from boxes to break in the northwest, no gameplay-relevant elements are present here, as the area exists largely for cutscenes.

Midgar may of been a massive city, but it was also very full of people! There wasn't a whole lot of open area's that was safe for some the occasional sparring between a certain couple. Or anyone, for that matter! Everyone within Avalanche tended to have their own way of training, to always be prepared and be sure they were at top shape for any surprises. Alisa and Ephraim, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy a fun day of sparring almost every day, and somehow it was always like a fun game.
Today was exceptionally busy within the city, so they had to find another location, and after a bit of searching around for the perfect area, Alisa ran into Aiko, who told her about the 'Train Graveyard' area. Of course, her curiosity grew, she had to see this place for herself. Aiko informed her it was her favorite place to 'train' with the weaker monsters there.
The fact that there were monsters in the area only made it sound even more fun.It would certainly make things even more interesting! Attempting to bring Ephraim down, all the while taking down monsters along the way. It could be fun!

So there they were, like two little kids playing in their fortes, those fortes just happened to be metal, and very, very loud! Not quite the sneak attack providing area she would of hoped for, but still, fun none the less! Across from one of the many abandoned train cars, Alisa made her way to the top, hunched down and trying to move as slowly, and quietly as possible. Every now and then, a light ping of the metal would likely give away her position, and she would shoot off an arrow to another far away direction, in hopes it would throw Ephraim off! All the little noises could be rats, for all he knew! Keeping her body low, flat against the roof of the car, Alisa moved like some kind of sniper, awaiting to see that teal-haired king and lover of hers, maybe even catch a glint of his spear to her advantage point.

"I know I must place my duty as a commander above my life as a man. And once I am crowned, I most certainly will do exactly that.
However, I am not ready to divorce myself from my compassion just yet. I will find the balance somehow, the means to save my country and her people.
That is the king I wish to become, and so that is the man I must be."

For as skilled as Ephraim was in guerilla hit-and-run tactics, he had a feeling he'd fall short of his elf lover's ability to get the initiative in a contest like this. Even if she didn't use her Serenitian sixth sense, her long ears had evolved specifically for things like tracking, and she had likely been good at sneaking and hunting prey for all of her life, living in the forest. Ephraim was good at getting the jump on people, but Alisa wasn't a typical mark. As he walked on the ground level below where his expertly stealthy lover was watching from, he glanced around. He noticed noises coming from all around him--and though he could tell some of them were misdirections, as arrows sounded different on metal than footfalls, that didn't give him perfect clarity to her position. He could at least assume she was at a higher elevation than he was, which made sense. It was easier to survey the area, AND she was better at range.
A loud screech pierced the air as a large monster dropped forebodingly right in front of him, raising its razor-sharp claws--and rather instantly going limp as a single thrust from his spear proved to be fatal. Ephraim sighed, using the skewer point to throw the monster's corpse away. "Well, she definitely knows where I am now..." He said to himself, as his head looked around, scanning the higher areas for any movement. She likely had seen him by now anyway, but even if she didn't, there was no way she missed THAT giveaway!

"Hehe, look at him...he looks so helpless like this..It's so cute.." She had such a odd sense of humor. "My little prey.." She whispered softly to herself, from the distance she was from him, to the sounds around the area, even the wind would make it all the more difficult for him to hear even a not so quiet whisper. The wind through the old, rusty metal of some of the trains created quite the sound affects, even creating a slightly eerie atmosphere.
The challenge for her was to really, REALLY not use her senses. After all, this was part of training, despite how fun it was for them. One day she might find herself stripped of her abilities, so preparing for those possibilities when she might find herself unable to sense by use of her Serenitian powers. This was just another way to train for that. And those long ears did not disappoint her, what with all the other noises in the area, one in particular, caused her to almost jump up! That screech! The monsters here were laughably weak to them, but still, there was always going to be that instinct that made her want to jump in to protect him. Silly Alisa, clearly he didn't need it, as that very monster was instantly lifeless and tossed aside like the trash that it was. "Ugh, why does he have to be so hot in everything he does? Even the way he just.......killed that monster..It was so hot.." She continued to think to herself, her words her own, unfortunate for Ephraim to not hear her silly thoughts! "..Eh heh heh..! You're mine now.." While his back was turned, she very quickly got to her feet,a little louder then she normally would be in a mission of stealth, but it seemed she didn't quite care as she shot out two magical arrows, each in a direct path for Ephraim! --- But what he might not expect was the moment they came close to him, the two magical arrows exploded in a blinding golden light, before the same golden energy was wrapping itself around his wrists, where the other end embedded itself into the ground to keep him completely still and unable to escape!

That's when the blonde elf jumped down from the train car's roof, and began to walk into his direction. "Uhohs...My poor, helpless king...What ever will become of you? " She grinned at him, as if she had already won their little duel. "You'll never break out of my magic! You should just surrender today and cut this short! You don't mind giving into your dear, beautiful fiance, do you?? " She was really doing everything to throw his mind off, she fully intended to win today!!

"..." Ephraim had great perception, so he definitely felt like he was being watched. But she was much better at stealth than he gave her credit for... he really did feel like her prey, being stalked. It put him in a difficult position--if he simply sprinted up towards one of her potential hiding spots, chances were low he'd pick correctly, and she'd have all the control to reposition herself or ready a trap for where he was going. Those magical arrows were no joke--she could do just about anything with them. And even if he did pick right, she was so deft that she might be able to evade him and escape her vantage point before he got there. No matter how one spun it, she clearly had the edge, for now...
And that monster certainly didn't help things. His ear twitched in response to her loud movement though--and his body whipped around to face her just in time to see her nocking her bow. Right as her arrows were let loose, he grabbed a wooden pallet leaned against the wall next to him, pushing it in front of him and causing the arrows to either go into it or waste whatever magical property she imbued in them to be wasted on it. He quickly then ducked and rolled behind a nearby train, getting out of her vision and hurrying to find a more discreet route. He knew where she was, now...
Whether she stayed on the train or still hopped down--or tried to move--he'd still be able to follow her trail. Now he could be the one stalking her, and this was where he tended to have the advantage. Still, with her ears, it's possible he wouldn't enjoy the element of surprise the same way he could against human adversaries, even without her senses.
As he'd come up behind her at last, his pace quickened for only a moment--depending on when she may have heard him, she may have a lot or very little time to react to what was coming. He'd attempt to grab her by the arms, pulling them behind her and hooking his arms around hers to keep them pinned behind her. Then, had that worked, he'd use his incredible physical strength and his grip on her to lift her off her feet, attempting to keep her suspended in the air with that hold on her to render her helpless. Had it all worked as he intended, he'd speak. "Too careless this time, Alisa--ready to admit defeat?" Rarely was it ever so easy against her, but maybe he'd manage a quick victory this time!

Alisa was already so in the mindset that she already won, that she MAY of let her guard down, just a bit. Those arrows not only gave away her position, but completely failed to do their intended job--for once! "O-oh...The old pallet trick, huh!?! Well! I---Er..uh?!" Panic began to set in as she realized she had just as quickly lost him, for a king with so much heavy armor, and a massive heavy spear, he could move FAST! "...No problem! ....I'll find you again...C'mon, little monsters. Show your ugly selves for my dear Ephie! Show me to him! " As if that would happen again, though it sure would be funny if it did! She knew they could never get a chance to bring any harm on him, so it was just as easy to joke about!

She was starting to feel like prey to a circeling shark, her eyes darting side to side, it was not hard to see how very worried she really was, despite her mouth! "To fast.. Where is he? " She asked herself quietly, her nervousness growing each second. It was brutal to not use her abilities. It was like having the gift of flight, only to suddenly have it stripped away. No one could get used to that! --- luckily, it was her choice to not use them right now.
And as those eyes continued to scan the area closely, the moment came when she would react with a rather embarrassingly loud, screechy scream the moment she felt her arms grabbed. She may of been expecting SOMETHING, but even despite trying to prepare her mind for the possibility of a sneak attack, it didn't help her remain calm at all. She STILL freaked out as if a demon ghost just touched her! Really, it was a funny moment she may never forget. Brave Alisa, scared suddenly by her own game of chase. Her new position, hoisted in the air slightly with his vice like grip and incredible strength, just proved how badly she lost this round. "Ugh..! F-Fine! This time only, --though...You hear me?! I won't lose again! I---I admit it, I admit defeat to you...you freaking hot king you! " What a way to admit her defeat!
