Hobbies:Fake starmaps -- while being on Earth means that the stars around him don't really change like they did when undergoing interstellar travel, Roy likes to make new constellations out of the stars he sees and draw ornate maps and entirely fictitious cosmic trade routes. He might even make small stories to go with them, but more likely he just hangs them around his space.
Foodie -- Roy's palate isn't really up to the breadth of flavours available on Earth, but that won't stop him from sampling literally every cuisine he can get his hands on, even if he hates it. Yes, he desperately wants to try haggis. He is a mediocre cook, so he frequents restaurants and diners to have a more "authentic" flavour. He doesn't eat any meat aside from fish in his day-to-day, but he will make exceptions for this as he fully expects to hate most of the food he tries. But the important part will be that he tried.
Speed dating -- he's awkward at best, but he finds this to be a convenient way to interact with a lot of humans in a controlled environment where he's encouraged to talk to them and them to him. He's studying their mannerisms and trying to integrate what he sees to blend in better, to be less obviously "alien", with mixed results.
Virtues:+
Protective -- Roy is more than willing to risk life and limb for someone he cares about or someone he feels he otherwise owes his allegiance to. While not exactly a bleeding heart, he believes in protecting those who cannot protect themselves. He will do very stupid things to this end like fire at his Commodore on impulse, but his heart is in the right place. He considers the right to self-determination to be sacrosanct and will try to do what he can to preserve that for people he encounters. There are few things he considers more precious than someone's potential.
+
Precise -- Every 't' is crossed, every 'i' is dotted, and he does his calculations to double the required number of significant figures, just in case. If someone asks him a question, he will take his time to make sure he gives them the most thorough, accurate answer he can. He says exactly--and no more--what he means and means exactly what he says. Everything is 'just so', and it makes him very reliable, if a bit predictable.
+
Understanding -- If anyone comes to him with a problem or complaint, Roy understands. He sympathizes with people's plights and, while he's not always the best at showing that, he makes a great shoulder to lean on. Sometimes, his understanding runs deep, and he can take others' problems into him as he tries to help support them.
Flaws:-
Patronizing -- Roy is not necessarily the most popular person, and his tendency to rub people the wrong way extends into most social situations. He genuinely doesn't intend it, but that conclusion/paper/etc. was obvious to him. Why...? Wasn't it obvious to you? This is also a facet of the fact that he can't tell people why he knows some of the field knowledge he does. So he chooses to instead carry on as if it's self-evident. He doesn't mean to be rude, but... did you need him to explain it to you again?
-
Busybody -- Roy is in everyone's business. At least, as much as he can be while being discreet about it. He's a collector (though not necessarily perpetuator) of rumours, but he is not very good at remembering to appropriately reassure someone that their confidence will stay that way. Just trust him! It is perhaps fortunate that he's not very social, because it can sometimes take an intervention from his twin to smooth any feathers he doesn't realise he's ruffled. He just likes to keep tabs on things, alright?
-
Stubborn -- Yes, it's possible for his mind to change. It's just not very likely! Authority figures have more of a chance, as does his twin. Outside of that, be prepared to argue your point and good luck to you. If he sees his stubbornness is causing active detriment to himself or someone he cares about, he will very, very painfully alter course after a lot of thought and agonizing. But he's not going to be happy about it, even then, and he will sulk about it. He does not apologize first, and anyone who expects him to is in for a long wait.
