But men, they say a lot of foolish things
And in the end the only words
I can find to believe in are mine

Name: Joseph Ross
Nicknames: Joe
Pronouns: He/him
Age: 19
Birthday: August 9th

School: Treva College for Career Advancement - he’s studying to be a mechanic.

Hobbies:

  • Motorcycle Enthusiast -- If there’s one thing that’s been consistent about Joseph since his childhood, it’s that he loves motorcycles. He loves working on them, loves riding them, loves looking at them. His greatest hobby is his own project bike, a years-old Harley that he pours much of his spare time, energy, and funds into slowly restoring and improving, working on it slowly as his own understanding of its workings grows. It’s no exaggeration to say that this bike is his baby, and might even just be his one true love, given how much of his attention it gets.

  • Urban Exploration-- Joseph has always been curious about the kind of places people have abandoned and left behind. Not because he believes in ghosts or anything spooky, mind, but because he just likes seeing the history there. There’s also the thrill that goes into it, as most abandoned buildings aren’t the kind of place anyone’s supposed to be going, even if entry isn’t specifically blocked off, and the idea of poking his nose somewhere he isn’t supposed to be is too much for Joseph to pass up. He hasn’t had a great deal of time to wander around since moving to Mayet--school has taken up more of his time than it hasn’t--but he has at least been paying close attention to different blogs on the topic and has been scoping out potential places that he’d like to check out when he finally does have the time.

  • Gardening-- While Joseph lives in a small apartment and doesn’t have anything like a garden in the traditional sense, he does have an indoor succulent garden that he’s deeply fond of. He’s named all of the plants and given them small signs to indicate which is which, and keeps them to add a little greenery to his apartment. His lease doesn’t allow pets besides a small aquarium, and since he isn’t really interested in fish, Joseph went with plants as the next best thing. Since succulent care is particularly easy, he decided to start with them, and one plant turned into two, turned into four, turned into a large planter full of nothing but succulents forming a miniature oasis of life in a space otherwise dominated only by clutter and motorcycle magazines.

Pros:

  • Life’s too short to get mad. Mellow-- The kind of person to roll with the punches, Joseph tends to be relaxed and laid back in almost any situation. It takes a lot to ruffle his feathers, and he lets most insults or mistreatment roll off his back without it bothering him. The truth of the matter is that Joseph thinks life is too short to get bothered by things; he’d much rather put his time and energy into productive matters than get caught up in drama or fights, and he’d rather let someone yell at him for a while, then go on his way than go off on them in turn. He has a long fuse and tends to keep a calm, content mindset in most situations, because in his mind there isn’t a single situation out there that’s made better by getting worked up over it.

  • Don’t let fear hold you back. Brave-- For some people, fear is either a powerful motivator or a deadly foe. In Joseph’s case, it isn’t really either; it’s simply something he experiences, and he doesn’t let it affect him. He has things he’s afraid of, but he simply doesn’t let it stop him from doing what he wants to do. Life is full of risks, and often those risks can make you afraid of the outcomes--but if you never take the chance, then you never know if it might work out. Sure, fear can keep you alive, but if you let it lock you in place then it isn’t going to do much good. Joseph’s bravery isn’t boldness; it’s the kind of courage that comes from acknowledging that you’re afraid, and then choosing to go forward despite those feelings because getting what you want in the end far outweighs the risk of trying to get there.

  • I’ll get this done. Disciplined-- Bravery on its own can easily turn to recklessness, but bravery coupled with discipline can take you where you want to go. As someone who grew up under a strict father, and who spent his high school years in a military school, Joseph has been well-taught in self-discipline. While he may resent other aspects of the way he was raised, he understands the value of hard work and focus, and has come to value the self-discipline he was taught. He’s very good at keeping on top of projects and assignments, at turning things in on time, finishing what he starts, and he never seems to lose anything.

Cons:

  • You can’t tell me what to do! Bullheaded-- Once Joseph has made up his mind, he won’t change it for anyone or anything. He’s made up his mind, that’s the end of the discussion, and if he’s chosen to do something then he’s going to do it no matter what anyone else thinks of the idea. He’s a decisive sort of person, and while that has its benefits, it becomes a flaw when it means he’s unwilling to listen to other opinions or revisit his own decisions, even if new information comes up that makes it clear he should give a matter more thought. Once he dislikes a person, he dislikes them; if he disagrees about a topic you cannot and will not sway him from his position--in fact, he’s likely to cling all the tighter to it entirely because you’re trying to make him change his mind.

  • I’ll take care of myself, thanks. Independent-- As someone who doesn’t much appreciate authority, oversight, or other people telling him what to do, Joseph is independent to a fault. He sets his goals for himself and he sees them through--or not--entirely on his own. He does not want anyone’s help, he does not need anyone’s help, and he’ll thank you to mind your own business if you’re going to try and interfere. He works best solo and though he can manage to work with others if he has to, he doesn’t particularly enjoy it, and that tends to make him… difficult to get along with, because for all his laid-back attitude, it’s incredibly frustrating to try and work with someone who would rather brush you off and handle things on his own.

  • ’Not Allowed’ just means don’t get caught. Rulebreaker-- It’s understandable for Joseph to have a strong dislike for authority, given his personality and the strict demands his father placed on them, but he takes it a step too far. He tends to take rules as a challenge rather than something to follow, and he will constantly test his limits to see how much he can get away with. This can range from anything from sneaking snacks into movie theaters to his urban exploration hobby, which isn’t always strictly on the side of legality, considering trespassing laws. So far this has been relatively harmless, and he’s been lucky enough not to get caught, but his habit of doing exactly what he’s not supposed to simply because he was told not to do it is one that could land him in serious trouble someday.

General Appearance

Joseph is a relatively tall young man standing just under six feet tall, and has the lankiness of someone who hasn’t yet started filling out properly. His hair is a bright ginger and fluffy, finally growing out after being kept military-short most of his life. His face is a bit long and his eyes are a bright green-gold and sharply angled against his cheekbones. He doesn’t really have any freckles to speak of, but his skin is fair enough to burn nonetheless. He tends to dress casually, but you’ll take his leather biker jacket away from him over his dead body.

Sailor: Ausonia, Senshi of Thanatophobia

Uniform Color: A Sailor Soldier will always start out with WHITE as a base color, no matter what! In addition to that they may have two additional colors. Ideally, these colors should compliment each other, but otherwise tell us what they are!

Primary Color: CC, spooky color?
Secondary Color: CC, spooky that complements the primary

Uniform:

CC, but with a vaguely spooky theme and an emphasis on practical design rather than glamorous.

Collar -- CC with spooky vibes
Brooch -- Same as above?
Chest Bow -- Practical side, otherwise CC
Bodice -- Function over form, vaguely spooky CC
Bottoms -- Motion is important, but still CC
Tiara -- CC and you guessed it, more spooky
Butt Bow -- Still more spooky, and nothing over the top

Accessories -- CC, but very simple and practical, no earrings or anything like that.

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: Deadly Premonition
This attack is started when Sailor Ausonia crosses his arms over his chest; he pulls his arms apart and down, then swings them straight out in front of him and claps his hands once; this blows a thin stream of mist-like magic at a targeted enemy. When this ‘mist’ hits an enemy, they are hit with a feeling of panic and unease about the possibility of their demise and an uncertainty about what happens after death. This attack doesn’t physically affect the target, but it can induce distraction and in especially susceptible enemies holds the potential to make them freeze up.

Note: The ‘mist’ itself vanishes once the target begins to feel the effects. These effects themselves last for a short time, but can linger on those who are more inclined to this particular fear – and can wear off nearly-instantly if the target is of a stronger mental constitution.

Range: A single target within 10 feet of Ausonia.

Use/Duration: Lasts 15 seconds/1 post, less if the target can shake it off better. Usable three times per battle.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Oncoming Demise

The motions to activate this attack are the same as in the weaker version, save that Ausonia claps twice in lieu of the once for his previous stage’s attack. This time, the mist has a darker tinge to it, and the fear of imminent death is more intense and harder to shake off. At this stage, it can induce panic in those with a greater susceptibility to fear and is capable of functioning as a distraction for longer periods on higher-level targets.

Range: A single target within 15 feet of Ausonia

Use/Duration: 20-25 seconds/1.5 posts, less if the target can shake it off better (or slightly longer, depending on target susceptibility--aka player discretion.) Usable three times per battle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Whispers of the Dying

Similar to his previous attacks, Ausonia begins this one by crossing his arms over his chest, then bringing them around in an arc. This time, however, instead of clapping, he brings his a hand up to his ear, then waves it at a friendly target, whereupon a wisp of mist-like magic that surrounds up to three allies within range and siphons away any fear of dying they have, allowing them a temporary period in which to act while free of fear. This doesn't encourage any extra recklessness - rather, it prevents allies from freezing up and being unable to act due to fear; which on a battlefield is one of the most dangerous things you can do.

Note: This specifically works only on any fear the targeted allies have of dying. No other fears are affected, so a target who is scared of spiders won’t be made any less afraid of a spider, only the idea of it killing them.

Range: A 20ft (radius) circle around Ausonia; up to three allies within that circle - only those three closest to him are affected.

Uses/Duration: The effect lasts for thirty seconds but wears off faster if targets leave the circle; usable once per battle.
