Delilah had come to the fair alone, not really telling anyone where she was going as a surprise to support her cousin in his art exhibit. There was a bit of nervous air as he had not completely admitted to her what he was doing packing up a collection of his work but she's put it together. It helped that the fair had listed some of the pre-registered artists on its site so a quick search had landed her on his name. Surprise! When she had gotten there, he had been tied up with a rather petite young woman discussing artwork. That had been all she had needed to see to excuse herself. Part of her had debated leaving but a small part of her, the part that missed enjoying this place as a child, made her stay. There was something so enjoyable about all the sights, sounds, and smells that she just wanted to be there a bit longer. Somehow her wandering landed her in the line for the Ferris Wheel. When it was her turn, she followed the direction and slipped into the pod, the man over seeing it glanced at her and then the people next. "No one Else?" His question made her once again aware of the fact she was doing things on her own and she sheepishly had to shake her head. But she turned beat red when he pulled back and called out to the line "Any other single riders?"

Mackenzie had been back a few places waiting her turn, ferris wheel having distracted her from the games and the search for her parents into a view of the entire fair ground. She was watching a kid walk by with a huge balloon and almost missed the attendant calling for single riders. "Hmm, what? Oh! Me!" Mackenzie waved her hand getting the mans attention. "I'm single!" she colored slightly realizing how that would sound. "Rider, I mean!" She saw the man roll his eyes slightly, he'd evidently heard people say that a lot either seriously or as a joke and gestured her up towards the front. "'Scuse me! Pardon me, sorry," she carefully wove her way past the people in front of her up next to the shorter, dark haired woman who was evidently also alone. Mackenzie smiled amicably and let the other woman get into the seat before piling in next to her. "Hi, I'm Mackenzie!" she said eagerly, offering a hand to shake once they were secured and shifted to allow the next car to be unloaded and loaded.

"Uh." Delilah found herself quickly studdering in surprise, a bit taken aback about how energic and outgoing her new ride buddy was. While she had known another single rider had to be out there, she'd steeled herself for an awkward, quiet ride. "Delilah." Finally finding her voice as she realized the pod was being shut-in and the signal given to move once more. "Sorry," She muttered, shaking her head as if to clear the shock from it before taking the woman's hand. "I'm Delilah. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mackenzie." Was it? "Appreciate you joining me. Don't think they would let it go with a solo rider."

"That's super pretty. Heck, you're super pretty!" she said unabashedly with a smile. "You can call me Mac, or Kenz if you'd rather. My parents are really the only people who call me Mackenzie." "Hey, we were in the same boat. I'm glad I get someone who at least looks close to my age and not some creepy old dude or something!" she laughed and then settled back realizing that her actions might just be a little too forward and loud for this really classy and elegant looking woman. Mackenzie wasn't sure but she had a slight suspicion Delilah was older than she was or at least infinitely more mature if she wasn't. There was just something about her. "Ah, Sorry," she said looking embarrassed. "You were probably all set for a nice quiet right and here I am being super loud and intrusive and all that. You can absolutely tell me to shut up and I won't take it personally. I know I'm a handful sometimes." she gave a short chuckle and reached putting a hand on her neck to rub at it sheepishly.

The shock at her words was slowly being replaced by a smile as Delilah felt her cheeks warm. "You are too sweet." It was always hard to take a compliment and from a complete stranger, well, those were normally the hardest. Though before she could politely return the favor, she was very much caught off guard by the laughter of the young lady. It spread and she had to cover her mouth to stifle the chuckle of being lucky that she wasn't with some 'creepy old dude'. Yet when she seemed to have realized she was being a ball of energy, couldn't help but offer a warm, real smile. "No,no! You are fine. Please, I apologize for seeming put off. You just took me by surprise is all. As you said, I expected some creepy young or old man to join me and that would have just ruined the ride. Instead, I find myself with a lovely woman that really knows how to break the ice." Chuckling slightly to herself, Delilah took a moment to look out in front of them as the ride shifted. "It's a nice change of pace. I just hope I'm not too stuffy for you!"

Mackenzie smiled again at the reassurances that she wasn't being obnoxious. "Nah, we're just strangers so any 'stuffiness' is just because we're not comfortable with each other. I'm like a big puppy, I think everyone is great and want to get to know them as quickly as possible so we can be friends, but I know not everyone is like me and some people just need time to warm up. I'm used to the fact that in five minutes people either accept that or are ready to throttle me. Sometimes there's middle ground but not always." She glanced out the window as they turned again, getting higher into the air. "The should start the wheel proper soon, I think this was one of the last cars to need new passengers." she remarked before looking back at the other. "So, I'm 17 and I go to Smithwick's. I've never seen you before so either you graduated ahead of me, go to the all girls school or the public school or neither and you're in college or work. Which is it?" she asked tilting her head slightly.

Honest. That was the first word that came to Delilah's mind as she listened to the teenager, a smile still painted on her face. Maybe a touch too honest but it was comforting to know she was with someone that for once didn't feel the need to edit anything out of their mouth. At least right now it was welcomed. "All the above." Delilah chuckled, looking to see what she was pretty sure Kenz was right about. The rest of the cars looked full from what she could see. "I'm in college at MU but also working as an intern for my family's company. And you are not wrong that I went to Our Lady. Enjoyed my high school years but it was something very different than what you see in movies or on TV shows. Pros and cons just like every school I guess." Turning her attention bac k to Kenz, she nodded. "So what field of science are you interested in? I hear Smithwick is the place to be for sharp mines."

Mackenzie nodded. "That's both comforting and disappointing, but I guess no high school is like what they show on TV or in movies. Honestly, that's probably a good thing. I don't think I could handle having to be some sort of crazy party animal thinking only about...you know." she colored slightly. Oh, she thought about it, what teenager didn't, but saying it was still just so...taboo. Her parents reassured her there was nothing wrong with her squeamishness. That was normal for people her age after all and she'd grow out of it one way or another eventually. Whatever that meant. "So what's your...major?" that seemed right. "And what does your family do? Do you like it or feeling stifled?" maybe that was a bit much to ask but it also seemed to be a thing that if your parents made you work for them you didn't necessary like it. Cliche but all cliches were based in some truth. "I'm a bio nerd. Animal sciences specifically. I want to go to vet school when I graduate. I work part time at one of the clinics in town and I love it." she smiled.

Lady Argentum Draconis My apologies for the delay. It's been an interesting time smile "Biology?" Delilah asked in a rather impressed fashion. It made her smile to see a young woman already so passionate about her field though the squeamish reaction she displayed at the idea of something so biologically wired into human nature made her stiffle a giggle. "Well that is impressive. I took basic biology to fill a Gen Ed requirement and then ran as far away from it as possible." Never ask her to cut open an animal again...living or dead! "And I'm studying business. My family is one of your typical big business companies and dables in a number of things but I would say technology is the big ticket item." How do you describe White Industries without really going into details....be as vague as possible. "So what clinic? And do you have a favorite animal?"
