Name: Shinori Kudo
Nicknames: 'Nori,
Pronouns: She/her
Age: 17
Birthday: May 4th, 2004

School: Mayet Secondary School

Hobbies:

  • Music -- Having been learning to play piano and violin since she was young, this is something that has become harder since the accident but she refuses to give it up. It's easier with the violin, considering it rests against her good ear, but she can at least hear the notes so it's not as bad as it could be.

She doesn't think she'll go into a music career like she once had dreams of but she has no plans on giving her playing up. Especially since Habu and Kaito both love to listen to her play. Since moving to the apartment, her piano playing is more a high tech keyboard, and she favors the violin more in favor of the memory of her twin, but it's often her favourite way to wind down for the night.

  • Habu -- Less a hobby and more a way of life, Habu is Shinori's service dog and best friend (tied with her childhood friend). A large, marshmallow of a Samoyed, he's been trained extensively to help with her loss of hearing in one ear, as well dealing with her anxiety and depression.

A dog in need of high activity and play time, mixed with Shinori's fear of riding in vehicles, the two walk or run just about every where in Mayet. Whenever they're out in public he can be seen in an indigo service harness with patches alerting others that he is a service dog but they can ask to pet him.

Their favourite trick to do, when at the park or places not too crowded, is "Habu, zoom-zoom!" when she's wearing heelies, and he takes off at a dead run with her holding his leash. This is primarily done on his off duty time, when she's hanging out with Kaito.

With him being trained as her service dog she also has started to look into him being certified as a therapy dog for others as well, with hopes to take him around to the children's wards on the weekends.

Ballet -- Another thing started when she was small, Shinori's been in ballet almost as long as she could walk. There's jokes she could "glissade" before she could truly walk, though that obviously isn't the case. Aside from taking time off to recover, she's not missed a dance lesson since. She's even graduated to pointe shoes and even played the lead in the Nutcracker, which is her favourite ballet. It's honestly the only one she tries out for the lead on.

One of her favourite things to do, however, is to dance ballet while playing her violin. Mostly done in the privacy of her home, she can sometimes be found performing in the park.

Notes of interest:

  • When Shinori was 11, she and her twin brother were in a car accident that resulted in the loss of his life and the loss of her hearing in her right ear.
  • It was something of a struggle to get used to but she likes to think she's managing well, especially with the aid of her TransEar hearing aid and her service dog.
  • Habu, who's full name is Habushiro, is a recent addition who's been trained since he was old enough to do so to become her service dog. He works really well with her specific disability and needs and the pair are inseparable.
  • She hopes to eventually get him certified as a therapy dog to take to the hospitals on weekends.
  • The Mourisatos and the Kudos are old family friends and their children grew up together. So much so that whenever both Kudos are away overseas they know they can trust them to watch after their daughter.
  • Megumi Kudo (36) is a make up artist and acting coach from Hokkaido, Japan. Once the main MUA for her husband, she still tends to travel with him back to Japan when he feels her skills will be invaluable for whatever movie he's filming. When she doesn't travel with him she tends to stay behind in the states to work as an acting coach within the city with children and teens, as well as work as their MUA whenever they're hired for something. She was the one who first looked into a service dog for her daughter, intending at first on getting a golden retriever until finding out that Samoyeds would work almost better for her daughter's specific needs. Figuring Shinori would love a large, marshmallow of a dog, she worked hard to find a good breeder and set everything in motion to get him certified.
  • Ginzo Kudo (37) is an actor who's been staring in Japanese films since he was in his early twenties. Born in Osaka, he met his future wife when she was just getting a start as a make-up artist and they've been inseparable since. Though he speaks fluent English he very rarely takes acting roles outside of Japan and is often overseas more then he is in the states. He loves to dote on his daughter, however, and is sad whenever she makes hint of no longer being daddy's little girl. He's in a betting war with his wife over when Kaito and Shinori will start dating and who will break and ask first.
  • Scent/perfume: Frosty lilac petals, iris pallida root, orris, violet leaf, white chocolate, coconut, wild lettuce, white sandalwood, white gardenia and oakmoss.
