Cryptids -- Growing up in Iceland, Vanille was told all sorts of stories of trolls and elves. Enough so that when she learned how to read, the very first things she went for were even more stories of other strange creatures sharing the world with humans. As she grew older and her family eventually moved to the States, Vanille expanded her repertoire and love of all things cryptid to embrace things like Bigfoot, Nessie and Chupacabra. She owns hundreds of books relating to cryptozoology and keeps at least 10 journals detailing the experiences of other people as well as her own when it comes to the strange and unusual. Admittedly, she finds the debunking of various stories or purported evidence most distressing, but she keeps plugging along. The world is just so very big, yes? Vanille refuses to believe that there isn’t more out there to discover.
Cartomancy -- When she was very small, Vanille’s mother had an old, much-loved tarot deck that she would use to read the possibilities for her family. It was a source of fascination and comfort to look through the cards and learn to use them. When Vanille was sent to live with family in the States, her mother gave her the old tarot deck to take with her. That was close to four years ago and ever since, she has accumulated even more decks and regularly provides readings for friends and schoolmates. Using the cards is comforting, entertaining and occasionally quite illuminating. And it is something that Vanille has every intention of teaching her own children, should she someday decide to spawn. And her mother’s old deck? That’s been safely packed away and set aside against the nebulous future.
Metal Guitar -- A more recently acquired passion of Vanille’s. Having some interest in music (particularly metal), she decided about two years ago that she wanted to learn how to play the guitar. An older cousin who was (and still is) very much into the scene took it upon himself to get Vanille the best guitar possible along with lessons. What she expected was a nice, solid, yet basic guitar. What Vanille got was an 8-stringed beast whose every reverbed djent noise gives her lady boners. She still goes to lessons, but she’s progressed fairly well and it’s really not unusual to find her tucked into a corner somewhere playing. Someday, she'd like to join a band and have fun playing purely instrumental music.
Pros:
Gentle Virtue -- Soft spoken and gentle by nature, Vanille is greatly distressed whenever anyone or anything is hurt, regardless of sides taken. She rarely argues and even then, she will not raise her voice or resort to hurtful language. Vanille is basically the human embodiment of of the voices of Mr. Rogers and Bob Ross mixed with the moral compasses of both men.
Observant Virtue -- Whether searching for mysterious creatures or studying a card spread, one needs to be able to spot the tiny details within the larger picture. Vanille is always watching for possible hidden images or subtext. This skill helped to keep her out of trouble at school since she was able to observe the politics of the playground without being drawn in. Not to mention that it keeps her safe when she’s out and about exploring the city. Vanille may not be Sherlock Holmes, but she does all right for herself.
Truthful Virtue -- Honesty has always been important to Vanille. As much as she is against causing harm, it was something of a no brainer when she learned that dishonesty can cause pain. No matter how tiny the lie. As such, she has always told the truth, regardless of whether it brings the hammer down her. Though not religious by any stretch of the imagination, Vanille’s favorite verse has always been, ‘And the Truth shall set you free’. She really does do her best to abide by that sentiment every moment of her life.
Cons:
Passive Flaw -- Though she has bouts of ambition and productivity, Vanille is ultimately quite passive in regards to her own life. She’s often far too content to be a passenger within her own story. And though trusted teachers and family have gotten after her regarding her complacency, it all just sort of rolls off of her back like water. Someday, she’s going to turn around, hit old age and wonder where on earth all the time and opportunities have gone.
Overly Imaginative Flaw -- Though she doesn’t really look or act it, Vanille’s brain is a swirling storm of colorful fantasy and what-ifs. Growing up believing in divination and magical beasties, her brain often took that innocent belief and ran with it. Very often, little observed details will lead her down a mental rabbit hole of what-ifs, or worse, full on built from scratch fantasies that can take hours, if not days to fully play out.It may not be the worst fault in the world, but her roommate is getting very tired of constantly reassuring her that there is no burglar under the bed. And no, Bigfoot is not suddenly going to jump out of the closet, JFC, Vanille.
Clingy Flaw -- Vanille was always a little bit clingy, however, that trait only worsened when she was sent out, all alone, to go and live with relatives in the States. She is terrified of being tossed aside or losing anyone she cares about, often to the point of near-constant texts or phone calls. And if you are in her physical presence, she will find a way to be literally connected to you (hand holding, arm hugging, etc). Yes, it’s all born out of a need to not lose anyone, but sometimes, people would like to sleep and do their own thing without worrying about Vanille’s abandonment issues.
General Appearance
Eyes: Coral Pink fading to #FFDDA. Eyes are large and perpetually innocent, fringed with long, curling, thick lashes. Typically wears a pale gold or turquoise eyeliner.
Hair: Tropical Ocean/Fruit ombre; thick, waist length and wavy with short fringe bangs. Typically worn in messy space buns.
Face: Heart shaped, elfin face with a slightly upturned, pixie-ish nose and almost perfect cupid’s bow mouth. Average ears with three piercings in each (lobe, conch and mid-helix on the left / lobe, daith and tragus on the right). Other piercings include labret and septum.
Skin Tone: One or two steps up from albino pale
Body Type: 5’9”, on the thinner side of curvy. Has a paleolithic tattoo on her left shoulder travelling down her upper arm.
Style: Tends to favor cottagecore/witchcore fashion, though also enjoys kawaii fashion and lots of soft pastels. Collar -- Sailor Collar
Brooch -- Typically contains Sailor Scout's symbol. This holds your collar in place.
Chest Bow -- Attached to/under your brooch.
Bodice -- Must cover from shoulders to waist at Basic Sailor level and will ALWAYS be white for Order senshi.
Bottoms -- Basic Sailors must have a skirt or shorts that fall between waist and knees to start. Skirts/Shorts can start to change forms from Super on, but MUST remain basic to start out.
Tiara -- All order senshi must have this.
Butt Bow -- All order senshi must have this. Sashes do not count.
Accessories -- Gloves? Choker? Shoes? Earrings? Please keep these things BASIC (think first season Sailor Moon and her squad) but here's where you can show a little bit of personality from the start!
Attacks:
Sailor Scout Attack: Rainbow of Luminesce
Nymphe is able to summon a small, dancing rainbow that provides a small energy boost for up to two allies within 5' of Nymphe. In addition to the extra energy, anyone perceived as an ally is filled with a sense of hope. Can be used three times.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Rainbow of Light
The small rainbow is now considerably larger and undulates and dances through the air, weaving about Nymphe and up to three allies within 10'. Those touched by the rainbow in this way are granted a larger energy boost and renewed sense of hope. However, should the rainbow touch anyone perceived as evil, they will feel a fleeting sense of cringing fear. No hope for bad guys, after all! Can be used three times.
Eternal Sailor Attack: Rainbow of Radiance
Calling upon the power of Rainbows, Nymphe cups her hands before her like a pitcher, tipping them forward to allow rainbows to fall from her fingers like water pouring to the ground. As the water pools it spreads beneath her like a fountain to flow towards her opponents. Any opponent within 15' suddenly feels exhausted, the effects of the exhaustion tiering based on power levels: S3 feel drained to the point where it's like being awake for 24+hrs and they feel like they could nod off at any second, S2 does that thing where you close your eyes and then you suddenly open them only to kind of slow-blink, nod off for a few seconds and S1 are full on washed over with absolute exhaustion to the point where they could just topple over and it takes an extra post after to come out of it. Can be used once.
