"Speaking of names," Dash said thoughtfully, "what's yours? You're not Chrys," he grinned. "Come on!" He waved his hand to follow, not that he needed to. "I am pretty sure it was feeding on bugs, but the underside of the leaf had spores like a fern. So I would say it definitely pollinated the plant it was on." Dash was very pleased. Their discussion was fun and educational too as he lead Dema through the woods into the exact grotto he had found the little amphibian in. "Here."

Crap. Dash could tell? "What do you mean I'm not Chrys?" He lightheartedly challenged. He wondered how Dash knew? Did Dad tell tell Dash how to tell him and his brother apart? UGH! No fun!
"A fern..." Dema thought over that as he followed along. "Those were those weird long plants on the homeworld, right? I think I saw that in a book once." The little grotto the ended up in was pretty peaceful. It was nice! "Ooo." He looked around, squatting near a fair sized rock and looking around at the plants growing around it. "I wonder if the animals live under rocks, or in mud or the trees... So many options!"

Dash's eyes sparkled. "Well, your hair and eyes are different. It's not that noticeable so I wasn't sure at first. But Chrys knows I draw from when we met."
He nodded. "Yes, it's like a fern, isn't it?" But where would it live? Some amphibians could absorb air through their skin and did not need gills. But mud seemed like a safe bet. He crouched down next to Dema. "We can test out the rock theory first if you want."

"Damnit Chrys." He hadn't told him Dash drew! Finally, he sighed. "Dema." He offered his name. "But I had you going for a while, didn't I?" He had a wide grin on his face.
"Hm... Should we lift the rock carefully then to see if anything is under there? Though if they have gills, maybe the lake boy knows about them too?"

Dash chuckled. "Nice to meet you, Dema. You did have me going, yeah."
The rock looked like it stopped right on the surface, so they should be able to lift it if they tried together. "I think we can look if you want to try. But yes, Kanja may be familiar with them, there are a lot of reeds around the edges of the lake. I don't remember seeing one there but that doesn't mean they aren't there."
