Basic Information
The weapon is a bullpup, lightweight assault rifle chambered in a 6mm caseless cartridge, utlizing a stoner 63 style long stroke gas piston. Initially the basic design of the body of the firearm was created and various firing mechanisms were experimented with, such as a short stroke gas piston, long stroke gas piston similiar to the AK, and FAMAS style lever-delayed blowback system, however the Stoner gas system was eventually settled upon due to it's low recoil and high reliability. Like the Stoner 63, the long action of the gun defuses the felt recoil over the length of the gun, thus greatly reducing the felt recoil. The same principle is also found in the FG42 and Ultimax-100, known as the constant recoil principle, that doesn't allow a sudden recoil impulse to be imparted in the shoulder all at once. In comparison to the original M7, the M7A1 and onwards (M7A2, M7A3, and it's variants) has a slightly overall longer length of 1.5 inches, to give more space for the recoil to dissipate thus decreasing felt recoil even further, however both variants of the gun have an action designed to allow the bolt to travel to the rear of the gun without directly contacting the rear of the receiver, allowing it to "float" on the spring, creating a constant recoil impulse similiar to the Ultimax-100. This both increases accuracy and the handling characteristics by reducing felt recoil, which not only makes the weapon more comfortable to shoot but reduces deviations between rounds fired in rapid fire. Like the Stoner 63 or FG42 this requires a longer overall length, however this is achieved by using a bullpup design which places the trigger and grip forwards on the rifle and shortening the stock, which allows approximately 6.5-10 inches to be shaved off of the firearm and shifts the balance rearwards making the firearm easier to hold. The weapon is designed to come with a number of accessories such as the M288 and M488 which are linearly stacked caseless 28mm grenade launchers based on the metal storm project, which are under and overbarrel designs respectively. These grenades operate either with a contact fuse, optical fuse or laser designated fuse which allows them to detonate at a predetermined point in mid-air. This is based on the XM25 project, and despite the nomenclature of the "28mm caseless grenade", is fundamentally the same exact grenade used in the 25mm grenade project with a different name. Air-bursting grenades were found to have approximately 300% higher lethality and target acquisition rates, and to allow easier time targeting hidden or well defended targets, or even allow targeting of individuals that were not possible before.
The basis of the Kinetic design's operating system, firing the standard 6mm caseless cartridge, is the Stoner 63. Like the Tavor or VHS the weapon went through a number of iterations and can have it's internally operating system changed, however the Stoner 63 style of design was eventually settled upon. The Stoner 63 was used by numerous special forces groups such as the Navy Seals and Marine Recon, and has earned a reputation for reliability, good accuracy and very light recoil. This achieved by a long action which defuses the recoil over the length of the gun,
