Red Gypsy

After they had left Bast and Desmond alone Varos pulled Cassarria in close to him his mouth finding hers as the elevator went to their floor, he’d been gone for weeks and this was well overdue, Their kiss was heated with need and desire, and just as the elevator door opened to their floor he pulled back to see with satisfaction that he had his mate sufficiently turned on with need, as they had gone into their room their would be passion was interrupted when a message came in that they were needed, a contract had been agreed on and was wanting to meet to get the full details which only made him frustrated at the fact he wasn’t going to be able to satisfy his mate with the much needed attention and affection she so deeply needed. After they went into the conferance room and saw the two elves he knew immediately his mates plan, especially when she had assured him they would have their time alone after this, and that she had a plan in motion to help the rest of his pack.

Toross and Philana sat patiently, both nodding an acknowledgement when Cassaria spoke up about two additional attendees coming to this meeting. When they arrived, they kept a professional demeanor, but deep inside, they were in turmoil, seeing that the man who was with Kitten had caused a world of hard feelings. It was only after putting two and two together that they understood what was meant by current information, seeing him now—a Dog of War.

When Bast and Desmond sat down across from them, they could see the mark on his neck and relaxed slightly. Philana was the first to speak, even after they watched everything happen around them, their eyes taking note of everything, “What is a dog of war doing here? Last we’d heard you were on a very small leash” Varos and Desmond both tensed up a bit, but Desmond spoke up “well that’s simple we’re cutting lose and freeing ourselves from those who would use us for their own gain. Though i do have to ask, have we?” Toross nodded “two years back, you were a part of a security detail that locked horns with our team, you got close to taking my head a few times as did i during our long-range duel. The team that we were a part of wasn’t so lucky.” Desmond had recognition of the event in question, and Bast would catch glimpses of the memories that cropped up when that event was brought up. It was before he had fully realized that RRT’s true nature wasn’t for peacekeeping. An event where he and a platoon of RRT security went head-to-head with a large group of insurgents attacking a facility they were protecting, a facility that at the time looked harmless, providing necessary supplies to civilians who needed them. That proved to be false, while there was on the surface a civilian production and distribution that provided essentials for civilians in the area, the real purpose of the facility was an underground R&D facility that was actively prototyping new tech for RRT.

“Apologies for the loss of your comrades, I did what I was told, and at the time i wasn’t even aware of the facility that was underneath the production facility you appeared to be attacking.” Toross nodded and just replied, “So what’s the deal with RRT?” Desmond replied, “Well, the dogs of war are leaving before we are killed by our own handlers. Unfortunately, they sent most of us to the island for a mission that proved to be a smoke screen for a bigger purpose.” Philana spoke up, “That being?” “To kill everyone there and eliminate every dog of war, apparently, the church put a contract up for the destruction and death of everyone on the island and the removal of every dog of war alive. There are some of my kin who are still onsite at RRT headquarters and the logistics warehouse in the industrial district, they need to be evacuated before they are terminated and RRT needs to lose full operational control to ensure they don’t attempt something like this again.” Toross and Philana were surprised by the openness and just looked at each other before they continued “the warehouse, what is the security there” Varos spoke up “provided they’ve continued to keep it looking like an abandoned warehouse, minimal. The two members of the dogs of war handle logistics for all RRT operations” Desmond raised a hand “partly true, there are some security forces there but there shouldn’t be anymore than a squad of enforcers there, along with the dogs of war.” “and the headquarters?” Toross asked “heavily guarded and difficult to enter into, the headquarters isn’t just what you see outside, the complex is underground with vehicle access points at discreet locations, but effectively you are looking at a ten sub level Complex that houses an entire army, easily ten to fifteen thousand personnel at any given time. There are two kin inside, last i knew before i went to the island was they were on standby at sublevel four, section eight, which is where the dogs of war are kept when we aren’t on task.” Toross and Philana looked at each other concern clear to see “we can handle the warehouse easily enough but the headquarters will need a special touch to crack it open and free your kin, do you have a plan on getting inside?” Toross asked his hand instinctively resting on top of Philana’s as they took in the information.

Desmond replied after careful consideration, “well that is the problem, i can’t use my access codes to gain entry, I'm not due back to return so that would immediately raise alarms to anyone paying attention to whose coming in, plus we’d have to deal with our handler at that point and that’s not something i want to deal with if i can help it, we’d need a means to enter” toross was about to speak when Philana did and surprised him “that shouldn’t be a problem, while I am not a technician i am trained for recon and intelligence gathering, which includes hacking, if i have a access point it shouldn’t be too hard to gain access to their systems and provide a means of entry and exit” Varos spoke up “that’ll be difficult, access points are closely monitored and are closed to the outside world. They have a Relay station just outside of town but it is heavily guarded.” Varos paused when the staff came in with meals and just watched as they dispersed the food.

As things were talked on Varos could feel the longing for him their bond and his need for Cassarria could be equally felt, he understood the reason for this meeting but he was already ready for this to be over so that he could attend to his mates needs with the thoroughness he gave to his mate every time he was with her.

Cassarria hadn't survived as long as she had without a level of patience that would terrify those around them. Yes, she desired her mate and husband. Yes, she wanted their intimate time. Yes, she was more than ready to jump the man like a cat in heat.

But she was patient. She banked her fires for the moment, allowing the pressure to build. She kept it dormant, knowing that the fires of passion would erupt at the right time. Just like the volcano that had birthed her. But to keep her powers from causing a problem, they were going to have to go to the only place that could contain her.

And she was going to take the shortcut after this meeting...

Outwardly, no one could see anything but a calm and collected woman directing an important meeting about saving lives.

"Wolfgang was one as well. He used to be called Varos until he faked his death to escape," she felt a small teasing smile grace her luscious lips, "Then he found his way into the Club after it had closed for the day. He put a blade to my throat and stole my heart in one overly-confident move," she got lost in the memory briefly, unable to hide the way her skin flushed. But, again, she banked the fires for now.

Bast spoke up, "I can help with anything involving stealth. Aside from the skills I used to put to use here, Sebastet personally saw to my training. I have the silence and skills needed to get where I need to be without being seen or heard," she said with the quiet confidence that came from knowing one's skills instead of bragging, "I might also have a very old lead on someone that might be able to help us with the access needed," she nibbled at her lower lip and looked at Cassarria, "If you're willing to make the call?" she asked hesitantly.

Cassarria looked at the young Hylarr with an exasperated expression but no one could hold out against THAT look, "Fine... I'll call... But I make no promises..." she said in an annoyed tone.

Then she got thoughtful and reconsidered, "Then again... If I say it's for you, Kitten, they'll probably do it without a payment... So I wouldn't be calling in my favor... They would be paying back for theirs to you..." she hummed in thought then shrugged, "I'll call and see what happens. Who knows, he might remember that he called himself your uncle and do it anyway..." she agreed with a shrug, "We'll know by tomorrow or the day after on that one. As for emptying the place, I think I can do something to help. After all, they've evacuated the entire place every single time they've felt the tiniest little shiver of the place... So I think I can come up with a targeted earthquake for them. We just need someone in place to snatch as necessary," she said confidently, "As for a certain half-breed idiot running things... I have it on good authority that he'll soon be called to show up at a certain island. So we can grab those the logistics location, then wait for him to leave because he simply HAS to make a production of it every time he does... Then we shake the building a bit," she said it so calmly, as if she were discussing the weather instead of causing an earthquake.

As for the contact Bast mentioned... Well, Cassarria's siblings all seemed to adore the young Hylarr... Including her crazy brother with an unhealthy obsession with electricity... Honestly, that last lightening storm was completely unnecessary... Still, he'd enjoyed taking down the idiots that had made fun of Bast. And the funerals were entertaining...

Bast grinned at Cassarria when she agreed to call in Uncle Zerious. Like Cassarria, he'd been born from his power. It had literally created him. He was a little bit younger than Cassarria, but not by much. And he was crazy. Dealing with electricity on a constant basis tended to leave on a little... Off... But he was still sweet, in Bast's opinion anyway...

Laura held up a hand nervously, "Earthquake?" she asked with a slight quaver to her voice.

Cassarria waved away the concern, "It won't rattle anyone else. Just them. I give my word. But if you want to issue a few discreet warnings to our allies, I won't object. Just make sure that they understand that only the one location will be affected," she said simply, knowing that Laura would be discreet in her descriptions.

Laura nodded and started taking notes for the warning she'd give out, knowing that it would have to be given out after the main target left. So she had time.

She finally looked up at Cassarria and Varos, "Before you two disappear.... Have you found someone to fully head up security? We really need someone in full charge of that. Wayne is wanting to retire and spend more time with Greg. They really want to plan that wedding, finally," she asked as cautiously as she could.

Cassarria smiled at her, "You're such a good girl, Laura... And I keep wondering how you and Garos haven't hooked up yet," she teased, grinning when the human blushed and looked down. It was too bad that Garos hadn't noticed the girl's crush on him. Honestly, the man was beyond oblivious...

"But to answer your question... I might have a lead on someone. But it's going to take me a bit longer to work it out. Wayne can hold on for a few more months," she said without giving anything away. Not even to Varos. Not yet anyway... She did enjoy her surprises, after all...

From here, the Elves would need to coordinate with Desmond for getting the pair from the warehouse. He and Bast would be useful there for eliminating the security. But they all understood how reluctant Toross and Philana were to working with Unknowns. Still, they weren't so stubborn to turn down well-trained help.

Cassarria stood, "As much as I'd enjoy staying to continue, I really need someone time alone with my husband before I set off a volcano," she was only partially teasing, not that they knew that, "Toross, Philana, Laura will be your contact but you'll have to figure out how to work with Desmond and Bast. I'll leave you all to figure that out," she added then gave a finger wave as she felt Varos wrap his arm around her waist and pull her from the room before they vanished in a brief flash of flame.

Bast giggled as they left, knowing that Cassarria hadn't been teasing that much. Still, it was easy to see how much she and Varos loved each other, even after all the years they'd been together. She thought they were cute together.

She looked over at Laura who was still trying to stop blushing. But that was sadly cute. Why hadn't Garos noticed her yet? Honestly, the demon had to be blind...

Toross and Philana grinned slightly under the table their hands meeting, giving each other a brief glance at each other before they fully gave Desmond and Bast their full attention “what is the deadline for this op or do we have time in our favor?” Desmond had been looking at Bast as they watch Cassarria and Varos leave when the question came up and just replied “we have time, but depending on what’s still in the works for the island would likely determine the full extent of how much time we have before the opportunity passes us by” Toross nodded as he looked at Philana “what do you think, we’ll need full loadouts plus a few extra for infil and exfil” Philana brought a finger up to her chin to think before she nodded “for two seperate ops we’ll need extra munitions each to allow for the possibility of extended engagements, plus I'll need my equipment for cracking into their system” Philana looked at Bast and Desmond and continued “we’re good at what we do but even we have our limits when it comes to engaging in urban environments much less if we end up going indoors” we can handle the exterior and provide fire support, if we end up going inside Toross Heavy Cannon won’t be much use, our repeaters and blade are good, along with my Light Cannon” Desmond nodded and replied “understood apart from the various blades and knives, my bow is my tried and true weapon both at range and up close, and my mate is keen with her own set of blades, so if push comes to shove we’ll all just have to play by ear if we end up going inside the complex.” Philana and Toross nodded “we’ll notify the Marsonian Confederacy that we’ll be on task for a while, if possible, should the earthquake work I'm sure our superiors would be grateful if we could bag a couple of high value assets for having a conversation with later” Desmond shrugged “shouldn’t be a problem there are protocols that are in place should a mass evac be required, mainly routes and rallly points where RRT command staff would take and rendezvous at. The protocols haven’t shifted in a few months so they rally points should still be active. Toross nodded satisfied by the information given and simply stood up with Philana “until then we’ll return home and collect our gear as well as contact our superiors before we return here.” At that, they simply left the conference room and made their way home.

Bast nodded to the two Elves as they left, not needing to mention her own skills with a bow. They'd find out soon enough. Instead, she leaned into Desmond as he put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close enough to put a kiss to her temple.

Laura gave a giggle at the sight, "You two are adorable... I hope Rain is going to be that cute when Cassarria's matchmaking works. I hope his face puffs up even more though. That make needs some cute to balance that badass attitude he's got," she commented.

Bast frowned at her, "What do you mean? And who are you talking about?" she asked, fairly confused. She knew a Rain from her old village, but they were all dead as far as she knew.

Laura gave a shrug, "One of Cassarria's relatives dropped an entire Hylarr Clan in our laps. Iberian Lynx. But she's weird in that she doesn't like kids so she advanced all their aging so all the kids now range from about twenty to thirty five. We've been helping where we can and integrating the others into the Club where we can. About eight of them have taken up your old job," she had to pause there as she finally noticed Bast's reaction to the news.

Bast had stopped listening halfway through. Hell, she'd stopped breathing for a moment. Her mind had instantly flashed to her family the day she'd left. But especially her brother...

When Laura stopped talking, she finally looked up at her, "Are there any named Neesha, Arrvolin, and Torr?" she asked in a small voice, barely able to feel Desmond holding her.

Laura's eyes blinked for a moment as she finally started to understand that Bast somehow knew this Clan of Hylarr, "There is a Torr, but not the other two. He's one of the ones that was aged. He's about thirty five now. He's been pushed through some intensive training while they've been here. His Guardian is now down to staying with him only once a week. Kreelin says he's almost ready to be on his own but they're still keeping an eye on him because his parents apparently decided to stay behind as a distraction so that the Church would realize that the rest had gotten out..." her voice trailed off as Bast started breathing fast, one hand gripping at his arm.

Bast looked up at Desmond, her chartreuse eyes welling up with tears, "Do you think it could really be him? Is my brother really alive?" her voice broke at the last question, not sure if she could really believe it.

Laura gasped, "Oh s**t!" she put a hand to her mouth in shock. This wasn't something she would have put together

Desmond pulled Bast into his arms and held her “anything is possible we’ll have to see once things here are resolved with the rest of the pack.” he looked at Laura and smiled lightly “if you could look into setting up a meeting at a later date we’d be appreciative” Laura nodded “of course, I'll talk to Garos about scheduling a meeting with everyone” Desmond nodded his thanks and watched as Laura took off leaving the two of them alone in the conference room,

Once alone Desmond didn’t say anything as he leaned in closer and lip locked Bast giving her a kiss she not only deserved, but also needed to distract her rampant emotions, he would help her through this moment. Once they came up to breath, he pulled her even closer to him letting her rest her head on his chest as he held Bast in his arms and just held her in companionable silence. Finally, he spoke “Once we get the rest of the pack freed, we’re going to see if this is indeed your brother and if it is we’ll work on tracking down everyone else that might have survived” he could feel the quiver in her body as she processed that her brother may have survived along with others.

Bast curled into Desmond, tears filling her eyes. She had so many emotions going on that she didn't know which one to feel. Sorrow because her parents were truly gone. Joy because her baby brother was alive. Confusion because he was apparently now closer to her age instead of 20 years younger. So many other emotions...

She was more than grateful for the distraction of the kiss, proving that he knew her better than anyone else.

When her wits finally checked back in, she noticed that he was carrying her somewhere. To be honest, she didn't care where he took her. She didn't want to think right now. Letting him be in charge sounded just right for now. If she tried to make any decisions she'd make bad ones.

She knew she needed to talk to him about Z but then she let that one go. He had access to all of her memories, including the Fallen she'd gotten involved with the last time she was here. She knew he wouldn't hold the b*****d against her. After all, Z had been very good at hiding his true intentions.

For now, she leaned in and nuzzled at his neck, giving a small smile when he growled at her for teasing him. She really enjoyed teasing him...

She heard an elevator open but kept her eyes closed as he decided where they were going. She knew she needed to show him around the building, needed to walk him through her apartment and her personal weapons room. She needed to order groceries for the apartment. She needed to do so much...

But she let it all go for now. She didn't want to think yet. If she started thinking right now she'd either start screaming or try to kill someone. So thinking was out for now.
