No no no. That wasn't working either! Kanja sighed and thumped his face down on the work bench. "Why wont it work?" He sighed and stood up, walking to the sink to wet down his scales again. He was trying to get an air pressure regulator to work. It was fine when he was testing it, dry, but when he submerged it? He couldn't even get a single bubble. "ARGH! WORK PLEASE!" Kanja picked up the regulator and shook it. How could he show his friends the lake bed if they couldn't breath? He had found information mentioning breathing equipment for under water exploration, but information on building these things? Either the files were damaged or lost, so he was building it by trial and error. Mostly error.

The morning just had Aren planning to look at the properties of some metals he had found in the rock around the dome to see if they were useful building materials, but it seemed the lab he'd steered towards was occupied. It wasn't too strange, he'd seen some of the kids hang around, as did Ghost, occassionally. But he hadn't expected to see Kanja here. Well, it wasn't the first time, but still the boy peferred to stay in or around his lake. Whatever he was trying to do though obviously didn't seem to work, and he looked somewhat flustered. He leaned against the doorframe and watched for a bit, the kid seemed so into his work that he didn't even notice. Until he finally took pity on the poor boy. "Need a hand?"

Kanja wasn't aware that he had a spectator. He sighed and was preparing to open the regulator, again, because what was one more time? He'd only opened it about 8 times today, but a voice at the door drew his attention. He looked up and saw Aren.
"I might need more then one hand to help." He sighed. But... Aaron was smart! Maybe he could help? "Maybe I could use a fresh perspective." He waved Aren over. He explained the device he was trying to build: a breathing apparatus for underwater exploration. "I just get this to work when it's under water. I've tried everything. Reversing the valve, which was a disaster, replacing it, trying 3 different kinds of valves, replacing the seal, loosening it, tightening it... basically everything short of starting over completely. It works above water, when it's dry, but as soon as I submerge it... nothing." He hoped Aren had an idea.
