“Oh! That’s a really good idea!” Fin exclaimed. He would never have thought to do that on his own. “I could document our findings and even make new recipes!” He grinned at the thought. Then maybe he would be able to contribute their findings to those on the ship! This was a wonderful idea! “Thank you Kanja! I think I’ll do that. We can totally work together!”

He stared, a little confused at Kanja’s hollow laughter. He could only assume he and Amaryllis had found some really gross tasting food. “That bad huh?” he questioned. “Err well hopefully we don’t run across anything else that tastes that bad.”

“Can we really catch a fish?! That’d be awesome! I’m starting to get hungry.” He pocketed his rock to take back to his room later. He was eager to have some fishing lessons! “How do we start?”

Finley moved over to wear Kanja was and watched him expertly snatch a fish out of the water. “Wow!” he exclaimed. Kanja definitely made it look easy. But Fin suspected it might actually be more difficult than it seemed. “Okay, I’ll give it a try.”

He stood very still in the water, watching and waiting for a fish to swim by his feet. The look on his face while concentrating was quite comical; he had a furrowed brow, and he was biting his lip. As a fish finally swam by, he immediately grabbed at it. There was a big splash as his hands hit the water. But when they returned to the surface they were empty. “Aww, I missed, “ he said, pouting a bit. “Hm, I’ll just have to try again!” He was very determined now!

If nobody stopped him, he might spend all day out there trying to catch fish. It was actually pretty fun. Even if he kept missing them. As he made more attempts to catch the fish, he commented to Kanja, “Hey, thanks for hanging out with me today. I’m having a good time.” He hoped they could do this again sometime soon.

“Ah you’re right,” he chuckled, splashing Kanja back. Most of the fish had disappeared. He would have been more disappointed had it not been for the fact that Kanja was there to keep him in good spirits. He smiled at his new friend. “I had a great time. But it’s getting late.” He stared at the now setting sun. It would be time for him to head back to the ship. “We can meet up again soon! I can’t wait to hang out more!”

As Kanja told Fin where he could find him if he wasn’t at the lake, the genome took careful note so he would know where to look. He would be sure to track him down for more socializing in the future. It wasn’t nearly as bad as he thought it would be. Actually this might very well be the best day ever!

And to Fin, the next day couldn’t come soon enough. He was eager to come back. “I’ll definitely come to see you again soon!”

He waved at Kanja, and gave a final goodbye before parting ways. He was in such a good mood he practically skipped back to the ship. Once he arrived back at his room he realized just how tired he was. He flopped down on the bed and as soon as his head hit the pillow he was out like a light.

Hopefully more fun things were in store for tomorrow for both Finley and Kanja!
