Kelebek had the day to herself--no children, no husband--and, in a rare moment of taking any sort of social initiative, she'd decided to pay a visit to Turin. She hadn't seen him since her wedding reception, even though she'd meant to check in on him. His daughters still hadn't been found, and a knot formed in her stomach as she imagined how that must feel. And though Kelebek knew Turin had a close companionship with Queen Tariel, and that they'd support one another, she'd never known him to have very many friends.
So, today Kelebek decided that she was his friend.
She'd gathered up some sweet and savory treats in a basket, along with some waterskins of tea. She'd thought about wine, but alcohol historically hadn't been kind to their particular relationship.
Kelebek made her way to the palace part of the palace, and told the guard at the front that she was calling on Captain Turin. She was led to a receiving room of sorts, and asked to wait there. She settled on a chair-like structure and set her basket on the floor to wait.
Her stomach fluttered a little. Even with all her new self-confidence, being in this part of the palace still gave her the nervous jitters. As she waited for what seemed like forever, she realized she should have sent word rather than just showed up. How presumptuous of her to assume that he'd be able to see her now. Or even that he'd want to see her at all.
