P O K E M O N- C O N T E S T - G U I D E
- This thread will cover the basis for Pokémon Contests in Pokémon Legends! Everything you need to know will be here in this guide. Let's get to it!
A Pokémon Contest is a competition where Pokémon Coordinators enter in. In the anime, Pokémon Contests are held in many cities and towns of a region while in games they are rarer. These contests are held in buildings known as Contest Halls. The idea behind this type of competition is about captivating your Pokémon's style. Winners of a contest receive an honorary ribbon or in Kalos, A Princess Key. After Coordinators collect five ribbons of a region, they are allowed to enter the region's Grand Festival.
The Grand Festival (グランドフェスティバル Grand Festival) is the final step as a Pokémon Coordinator to take. In order to qualify, Coordinators must have at least five ribbons. This tournament happens only once a year but in several regions. Like other Pokémon Contests, there is an appealing portion and a battling portion. However, in this competition, two Pokémon are required for each portion. The winner of the Grand Festival receives the Ribbon Cup of that region.
In order for a contestant to win and receive an honorary ribbon, the contestant must earn the most points out of the other participants at the end of the event. Each Contest is divided into three separate stages; Pedigree Stage, Performance Stage and the Battle Stage.
[ Pedigree Stage ] This stage judges the appearance of the Trainer and the Pokémon. A pure beauty pageant. Here, bonuses from the Contest Star skill tree are added to your score during this stage.
[ Performance Stage ] This stage allows the character to showcase their skills alongside their pokemon in front of both the judges and the audience! Combining moves the pokemon currently knows together to make unique and spectacular combinations to amaze the viewers! The best combinations will increase your probability rate of getting a high score.
[ Battle Stage ] Contestants are still Pokémon trainers and trainers still do battle! Contestants just have the advantage to not only showcase their beauty just to impress but also to out beat your opponents. Here it is a bit simpler. Battles will be done through Pokemon Showdown in a 3-on-3 battle.
XX。。。NARRATION PROCESS & RULES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Each contestant has 2 chances to impress the judges with amazing combinations with 3 pokémon that they own and decide to enter the contest with. Each chance, the judges will individually score you out of 6 with 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest. The highest total number out of both chances will be your official total for this stage. Using the same move or combinations back to back can hinder you from getting a lot of points.
Judges will have permission to judge your score based on how well written, and how you position your pokemon narratively. So your score can be anything. There will always be 3 concrete judges along with 1 special guest judge making a total of 4. With this, the highest score off of judges alone that a contestant can get is 24 points.
The more narrative, descriptive, and creative you put out, the higher chance you can shock the judges and get the highest score possible.
XX。。。MECHANICS PROCESS & RULES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Each contestant will use the "Random Number" post action to increase their chances of getting a higher score. With this post action, the lowest number you will add is 1 and the highest number being 6.
Whatever number you generated will be added to your judges' total score to give your True Total Score. With the highest random number being 6, the highest of your True Total Score to reach towards is 30 points even for the Performance Stage.
[ Round 1 Example ] Contestant A got a narrative total score of 18 and generated a random number of 5. Because of these two, Contestant A's True Total Score (TTS) is 23 for round 1.
[ Round 2 Example ] Contestant A got a narrative total score of 20 and generated a random number of 2. Because of these two, Contestant A's TTS is 22 for round 2.
Contestant A's final score with the Performance Stage is 23 points because 23 was the highest number.
XX。。。BATTLE STAGE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
As stated prior in this guide, there is a battle stage, where they would combine their performance skills into battle against their opponent. Each battle will be held in a 3-on-3 battle with the same pokemon they decided earlier with the performance stage.
The rules are pretty simple and straightforward, you battle till you whoever team has 3 pokemon KO'd. Each pokemon that gets KO is 1 point to the attacking team.
Once the battle is over, all the points will be collected and added to the contestant's final score to determine the winner of the contest!
If for whatever reason, more than 1 contestant's final score is equal to each other, they will battle once more to determine the Winner.
