He noticed the way she leaned closer to him as he was talking and Auric could feel warmth rising to his cheeks. Her leaning closer only drew him further into those mesmerizing eyes and allowed him to see the detail of her lovely freckles. Thankfully any blush was invisible against his tone, but he quickly rushed the mug back to his mouth before he could have the chance to fumble his words.

He slowly set the mug back down after listening to her talk about the story from the princess. Auric thought for a moment about the fauny and how they winged ones in particular made him feel like he might stand out a little less. Of course, he was conscience that everyone could see the difference between him and the fauny, but it was something. Yet somehow, he was sitting across the table from another faun who didn't seem to mind a bit. What a strange day this had turned out to be. Certain he wasn't going to say something completely embarrassing, Auric began to speak again, "Wow, that would be something to hear straight from those who experienced it... It sounds like very important and exciting work."

Kyrie nodded her agreement with his assessment. "I love my work," she said. "I love hearing stories, and I love that I get to hear from all kinds of Faun. Just, you know...one at a time." She blushed and took another drink. "I'm a bit shy, if you haven't noticed." Kyrie brushed a curl out of her face and fiddled with the handle of her mug again.

After a brief silence she cleared her throat and tossed out another question. She was determined not to let her shyness ruin this for her, since Auric seemed pretty interested in her, so she wanted to keep their conversation going even if it was awkward. "So, um, what's your favorite, um....season?" She winced internally. What a goofy question. She hoped he wouldn't think she was too silly.

Auric smiled lightly when Kyrie spoke of being shy, he hadn't realized she was shy. He had thought the way she was being was in response to how awkward he was. For some reason, her acknowledging her shyness brought him some relief. Perhaps it was because he was, in some way, also shy, although he had never applied that word to himself.

As the waitress came by again, Auric ordered some food for himself: a spring salad [since it was spring when this rp started XD]. After Kyrie had ordered for herself, the faun answered her question. "It's actually winter. There isn't as much work to be done on the treetop." It was a good excuse for him to keep a lower profile, not get out and flaunt his giant, telling, wings as much. He didn't tell her that, even though she admitted to being shy, he didn't want to draw attention to his wing insecurities. "Its a good season to just curl up, rest after a busy harvest, and enjoy the warmth of home." This wasn't a lie, it was what he was doing during winter.

The conversations stayed on the surface as they talked until their food arrived, yet there somehow was a special warmth to them as they slowly got to know each other. During the meal, Auric would steal glances at Kyrie, he was completely entranced by her. She never once seemed to pay any attention to his wings or ask about his angel parent, he almost felt like a regular faun around her, or at least what he imagined it felt like to be a regular faun.

At the end of it all, he couldn't help but feel that there was some sort of connection here, but his experience was in tending plants, not hearts. "I will have to return to the archives to check out some more gardening scrolls... I hope that you will be there when I do." He spoke to her. When it came out, it instantly felt like it wasn't enough, like he wanted to keep their relationship... professional?... which wasn't at all what he wanted. "But if you aren't there... I would really like to see you again." Auric added on so quickly that he wasn't sure if she would understood anything that came out.

Kyrie, too, was enthralled by Auric over the course of the meal. She imagined what a second date might be like, and how they might perhaps go somewhere more private for a more intimate conversation. And maybe, after that, a goodbye kiss?~ Her heart fluttered.

As they were to part ways, Kyrie's stomach did a flip when he asked to see her again. "I hope you're able to return soon," she said, blushing gently.
