XXXXX A young Kajuro listens as his parents argue in the next room over. Despite not being able to make out most of the words, It's clear to him that they are arguing about what happened to his eyes, and his father is quite angry about it for some reason. Then, putting his ear up to the wall to try and better hear the argument, Kajuro hears his mother scream as his father slaps her. Reacting without thinking, he then makes a mad dash that ends when he barges into the room his mother and father were arguing in and sees his father staring daggers at him. His father then venomously says "You aren't even my son" as he catches Kajuro in a shadow imitation jutsu, then proceeds to slowly walk up to him. Panicking as he realizes he is caut in his father's jutsu, Kajuro activates his Byakugan, which causes his father to anger even more and suddenly backhand Kajuro.
XXXXX Kajuro wakes up in a cold sweat from his nightmare. He then groggily rolls out of bed before walking over to the window of the hyuga clan guest room he was sleeping in. Looking out the window as he asks himself just how many times he's had nightmares about that day, Kajuro sighs as he notices that the moon is still high in the sky. "Ugg sensei is gonna get so mad at me if I fall asleep during one of his lessons again. Not to mention the academy's graduation exam is coming up in a few days, and if I fall asleep during that I could end up spending another year in the academy. Ugg what a drag that would be." he mutters to himself as he opens the window and leans out of it to look up at the stars.
XXXXX After a few minutes of stargazing, Kajuro slumps back into bed and miserably fails at his attempts to go back to sleep. he then spends most of the following day trying not to fall asleep in any of classes at the academy before walking alone back to the hyuga clan house, and getting jumped by his trainer for how to use the byakugan with more lessons he had to try and not fall asleep during. After the lessons are all complete, Kajuro practically collapses into laying on the ground before asking "Sensei, I know I've asked you this plenty of times before, and you've dodged it every time, but why are you bothering to teach me hyuga clan techniques? It's not like any of the clan's men have stepped up to claim me as their son to make me an official part of the clan, nor have I quite been officially kicked out of the nara clan despite "my father" disinheriting me and kicking me out of the house. So as much as you say the fact I have the byakugan means I'm family to you, you could still very easily be punished for teaching these techniques to an outsider."
XXXXX Kajuro's sensei then lays on the ground next to him and stares up at the clouds as he says "The academy's graduation exam is coming up soon isn't it? If you pass it with a perfect score I'll give you the answers to any and all of your questions when I take you out to eat as a celebration." "I'll hold you to that sensei" Kajuro responds as he pokes his sensei in the side. A few days later, Kajuro returns to the hyuga clan home, having eked out a perfect score on the graduation exam, only to find a letter from his sensei reading "I'm sorry I couldn't tell you before you left for the academy this morning, but yesterday I was urgently assigned as a replacement team member for a long term mission that left the village today and likely won't be back for at least a few year, or possibly more if things don't go smoothly. There are many things I wish I could have said to you before leaving you for so long, and I greatly regret that I won't be their to celebrate your graduation from the academy, but I promise you that when I get back, regardless of weather or not you aced the graduation, I'll tell you everything behind the reason I taught you." After he finished reading the letter, tears fell from Kajuro's face as he held the letter and just stood in place and looked at the sky for what felt like hours.
