Faction | Eikomi Spirit Family

Overview
The Eikomi Spirit Family is the main Spirit Faction in the Variten Region, and is unsurprisingly comprised almost entirely of Spirits. Some Humans are
part of the Eikomi Spirit Family, though the bar for being cleared to join the Faction despite being Human is quite high. Only Humans who have proven
themselves to be exceedingly trustworthy allies of Spirits in the Region are accepted into the Faction. Conversely, most Spirits are easily accepted into
the Faction, without needing to prove themselves much at all.
Though the Family is very cautious of potential Human allies, they are very peaceful towards Human Factions and populations, seeking amicable
resolutions to disagreements and confrontations whenever possible.
They are no pushovers, however; the Family trains their members vigorously to be able to hold their own in battle, and are often unafraid to involve
themselves in conflicts that are set to become unavoidably violent.
Some Members wish the Family would be more proactive against foreign Human Factions who constantly cause trouble for Spirits, but as the Family is
constantly attempting to recruit more into their Ranks, it can be safely assumed that they may lack the manpower to send any sizeable force outside
of the Region. At the very least, they are diligent protectors of Spirits in the Variten Region, their home.
Leadership
The Eikomi Spirit Family is controlled by two separate leaderships; The Eikomi Family Leader and the Family Council.
The Leader is the combat strategist -- similar to a military General, who commands their forces and leads them into battle. The Council is made up of
the most distinguished members of the original bloodline, currently comprised of four cousins who carry the blood of the family's founder, the Spirit Eikomi.
All four cousins in the Family Council are Adult Spirits with the defining features of Foxes, and three of them have small families of their own. Their job
is to collectively decide the actions that the Faction will take; will they fight, who will they fight, who will they ally with, who will they communicate with,
who will they trade with, and so on.
While the Family's forces are inside the Variten Region, they are commanded almost entirely by the Family Council; the Leader has no say, though their
opinion is typically valued greatly by the Council nonetheless. While the Family's forces are outside the Variten Region, or during times where swift and
decisive action is required to save lives, the Leader is given command over the Faction until the situation stabilises, after which point the Leader will have
to answer to the Council and ensure that they acted in accordance with their responsibilities.
A Guild Member can hold the position of Leader of the Eikomi Spirit Family.
Estate
The Eikomi Spirit Family's Estate is located in the western half of the Variten Region, a few hours walk west of the village of Vanna. A round trip to and
from the Estate and the village often takes half a day without horses. The Estate is located in the middle of a clearing amidst an otherwise dense forest,
most of the way up one of the region's main valleys. It is typically very hard to spot the Estate from inside the region's forests and valleys, though it is
easy to spot from the air if you are on the right side of the Valkennen Mountain.
The main buildings of the Estate do not house many Spirits' living quarters, however. Most members of the Faction have their own houses and smaller
estates elsewhere in the region; some close by, and others not; most hidden in forests just the same. There will be times when the Estate is mostly empty,
as the Faction's Members, including the leadership, are positioned elsewhere. A small force of Guards may be left behind during such times. Otherwise,
the Family does use the Estate in order to meet together, hold celebrations, or to train their members.
The Estate Building itself is built much like an Inn, with plenty of temporary accommodation and a large kitchen and storage area. Since the Family
requires room to train their members, a sizeable yard and a large dojo are set aside on one half of the Estate's land. Staff Members in charge of the care
of the Estate ensure that it is kept in order, even in times where the majority of the Faction are not attending.
It is from this Estate that the leadership of the Family maintains communication with notable smaller Spirit Families in the region, often inviting them to
participate in Year Celebrations or to enter into training with their fighters if they wish. Even the smallest Spirit Families in the region have been contacted
by the Eikomi Spirit Family at one point, and their ties with the Spirit population remains strong.
