Personal Bio:
Raised on the streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Shanahan is considered to be one of the strangest success stories; possibly due to the fact that when he entered the business, he was nothing more than an oversized jobber. Starting out in Extreme Entertainment Wrestling primarily, he was stuck on the development show for roughly 2 years until they finally let him advance. By then, he was considered a solid mid-carder. Competing worldwide against the likes of Saint Joey, Damita Rifle, and various other mid-carders, The Punk slowly began to establish himself as a threat to the industry.

It was not until Matt began to change his character that he would be noticed by many of the big names in the industry, when he proclaimed himself to be The God of Punks. The gimmick was originated during the end of his '09 year as a throwaway gimmick; it was intended to be challenged and criticized, though it never was. Over the years, many came to accept the man as just that: The God of Punks, a symbol for all the underdogs and outcasts in the world. For many years, the title held true to the name; in short, he essentially proclaimed himself a God without anyone challenging such a bold title.

After various world title reigns and Hall of Fame inductions, Matt has secured his place in the industry as an icon, future legend, and main-eventer. He supports his tag-team and mid-card roots, sometimes competing in such matches to revitalize the divisions, though it is rare to see him out of a large spotlight. Whether it's pride or a world title on the line, Matt's name is one that draws crowds with ease.

RELATIONSHIPS

Rivals:
Kodiak Gordert - One of the few men to ever gain permanent hatred from Shanahan, Kodiak proved to be the foil to Matt' in many companies in the formative years of his career. Kodiak and Matt often found themselves at odds in every independent company they stumbled into, sometimes even fighting in the much larger companies as well.

Rhamm - Unlike Kodiak, Shanahan's rivalry with Rhamm came about out of respect. Rhamm was becoming known as a mid-card workhorse in a handful of companies, and Matt was determined to prove himself against the much more skilled adversary.

Mike Landry - While the two men may share some level of respect nowadays, it was an entirely different story many, many years ago. The hatred between the two was one that followed through many companies, but mainly showcased in WWF:G as part of Matt's domination of WWF:G's Wrestlemania. Many would cite the rivalry with Mike Landry as the true starting block of Shanahan's soaring popularity in the following years.

The Damones - The Damone Brothers proved to be some of Matt's greatest adversaries in his battle to main event status, with Brandon and Jarel being his key opposers. Jarel especially served as one of Matt's primary gatekeepers into the scene, The Dragon never being only to take the advancement of arrogant new blood lightly.

Freakshow - Once thought to be Matt Shanahan's greatest nemesis throughout the Gaian history books, Freakshow proved to be one of the greatest obstacles in Matt's crash course to stardom. The two waged war for many years, in many companies, often time to the detriment of all around them. From backstage brawls to blood-drenched matches, the two seemed destined to screw each other over and take each other to the mental and physical limit anywhere they could. Long ago, Freakshow would have easily been labeled Matt's arch-nemesis; however, that title has since passed to another.

Major Devastation - A real case of "No, That Belt Belongs To Me", Major Devastation and Matt Shanahan's rivalries tended to be situated around who could win a strap in any given company. WWE:E and EWA were the common battlegrounds between them, both men at odds more often than not over a world class title belt.

Kelly King 2.0 and his entire goddamn family (Kayla, Serenno, Carmyne King) - If wrestling was a soap opera (and it is), Shanahan and the King family truly ran the show. At one time, both were considered to be the best of friends, King serving as one of the few to keep Shanahan in-check after the death of Saint Joey. Whether they were traveling together or eating together within the King household, the two would form a bond that would eventually make Shanahan feel like he was part of the family. It all came crashing down though, when Matt's ego was finally broken and with it, something deep inside snapped as well. The two would become bitter enemies for what seemed to be the rest of Shanahan's career, the bad blood itself being cited as the starting point of "The Storm," the dramatic turning point of Shanahan's career into its final stage. Many still wonder to this day if the duo have mended the fence, but neither man shows any public signs of such.

Friends:
Christina Parks - Not much is known about the backstage relationship between Shanahan and former strong-woman Christina Parks, all that's certain is that the two had some sort of bond together. As for if such a bond was ever strengthened into something more or if they simply became good friends, none really know to this day.

Alexander Dramien - A former tag partner to Shanahan, Alexander proved to be the opposite of Shanahan in every way. Their differing offense proved to be a key reason why the pair became multiple tag champions, each working off each other with extreme success.

Saint Joey - Not much is known overall about Matt's personal life, but his friendship with Saint Joey is one of those few factors. For the final years of Joey's life, Matt made every effort to be around his best friend in every company they ventured to. Whether they were teaming together to challenge the authority of a company as The Angered Alliance or facing each other in mutual respect, the pair were a constant sight in each other's company no matter the location. The Death of Saint Joey rocked the whole industry, but most believe it to have hit Shanahan harder than anyone. Some would cite the moment as the gradual building of "The Storm."

Nuke Fusion - A fellow member of the "Godhood" in Gaian history books and fellow founding member of "The Outcasts," Nuke Fusion helped elevate Shanahan to a higher level of notoriety in their efforts to dominate WWF:G many years ago, with the help of Christina Parks as well.

DJ - The former owner of ICW, Matt's immediate friendship with DJ would prove to be the key reason why Shanahan stayed in the indie company and did his best to help build it to a credible federation.

Marxx - While never really sharing the screen with each other, Marxx and Shanahan were mainly friends in the terms of their shared business goals. Both men sought to challenge the norms of the larger names in the industry; and while Shanahan failed every venture he sought to build a company on his own, the success of Marxx's business mindset and Shanahan's eagerness to make something new would see the pair come together and form the industry's final great indie company: Bad Blood Wrestling. While often overlooked as a founding block of the company, nothing about BBW would have succeeded without Marxx's steering in the formative days of the company.

Justin McCormick - An old friend within the ICW scene.

Azza - An old friend in his formative years in the indie companies.

Phoenixfire - A close, personal friend of Shanahan, Phoenixfire served as one of the few on-screen love interests Matt had in his career. While the romance never blossomed, their friendship surely did. The pair have rarely ever been at odds, and have often supported each other whenever needed.

Chrono Clepsydra - The relationship between Chrono and Matt has always been a complicated one, but the pair have seemed to finally bury the hatchet between them. Often standing against each other on-and-off-screen, the pair spent many years in opposition; as of now, though, they seem to be on friendly terms, thus ensuring all the "Godhood" of Gaia no longer rage against each other.

Mindy - Starting off as an occasional interviewer in EWA, Matt would soon hire Mindy as his personal assistant for his career as a whole. From helping him manage BBW to being the main barrier to contacting Shanahan in the modern day, Mindy stands to be the sole person left in constant communication with the fabled Storm.
