Heavy paws fell with immeasurable grace and rather surprising silence. His ears were pointed forward, his limbs were loose and moved fluidly, his form low to the ground, nose following a scent that traveled along the outskirts of his new home territory.
His azure eyes were focused and the intrepid behemoth moved with confidence. Even when not patrolling, he'd spent enough time travelling the forest floor and revisiting landmarks that he was becoming familiar with his new pack's territory.
He stilled as the wind blew towards him. He was upwind, the scent that he'd been following was days old, and faint, however, his search was renewed as it came to him fresher and closer than before.
It elated him; this scent was familiar and it made something in him calm. He moved downwind towards the smell. It wasn't long before he saw movement. She was just outside the border of the territory. The paint that decorated her dark fur glowed in the twilight. Her pelt nearly rivaled the deep blue of the encroaching evening, and as the moon rose higher, the pale blue highlights in her ruff stood out brighter.
"It's so good to see you." He said softly, his tail swaying behind him, his head up, ears at ease, eyes on the female who stood before him. "What brings you to this neck of the woods, little sister?"

"Little, huh?" A rich chuckle escaped her and she sat down, still just beyond the boundary of the pack lands. "Just because I'm short doesn't mean you get to treat me like I'm the baby here." she teased, her body language reading relaxed and comfortable. Eve had no ill intentions and believed that as long as that was the case, she had nothing to fear.
Logic - really.
Looking up at the moon as it rose higher, she closed her eyes and leaned into the wind and it blustered against her, rattling through the canopy of the trees above them and hissing through the grass that filled the 10 foot gap between them.
"Truth be told, I was in the Forest getting a feel for the season's growth and the wildlife and prey population to determine potential inter-pack conflicts based on supply and need, when I happened to pick up your scent. I figured if I stayed around for a little while, our paths might cross. I wanted to see how you were healing. Didn't think I'd find you in a pack... but it's good to see. There's a new light in your eyes - and you stand tall with purpose. I could not have hoped for better."

He lowered his head sheepishly; looking up at her affectionately after a moment. "This pack... they're good wolves. Small, but good. Brave. Tight knit. I can't help but feel something akin to home, walking among them." He tilted his head as he regarded her smiling face, "There's a female here... she's a protector, like I am. She was born outside of the pack. Has family out there somewhere..." He expressed his affection for the smaller dire wolf female who had wormed her way into his waking thoughts and dreams, and who he passed the time with, when they were able.
He turned in a circle for her, showing he had healed well, and that he bore a crest of bright, blazing, fiery paint that was like the Phoenix Fire that so accompanied his name.
When Eve barked out a laugh, letting him know he could smell the girl on him, he ducked his head a little sheepishly, however, her promise to keep an eye open and to retrace her steps to check old scents, because there was a familiarity to the underlying scent she was picking up on, made his tail thump against the earth in delight. "If our paths should cross, I will see that the rogues find their way back to this Ghost you speak of." she promised. The wind shifted and a new scent fell upon them, stirring her interest but reminding her that this was not her place.
"It is time for me to go. I am proud of who you have become... Our mother would have been too. Be well, Brother. I am certain that time will lead me back to you and our paths will cross again."
Rising to her feet, Evereve turned to leave, her tail and head held high, stepping on light feet as the gusting wind carried her into the night, under the watchful gaze of her brother who would have liked to have asked more questions of her before she'd left, yet contented himself with knowing she was well, and that their pack might soon see new faces.

His paw on moist earth. The tang of the forest in his nostrils. The cool feel of the moonlight that filtered through the tree canopy. The alpha of Swiftfell made his way stealthily through the forest, blending in perfectly with the dark brown and black color of the tree trunks in the night. He found himself performing these night sweeps more frequently now that their newest pack member had joined their ranks as a protector. While the decision had been made that Pheonix Ash had pure thoughts in his seeking to join, there was still what Thrush considered to be the necessary probationary watch over this formidable and foreign powerhouse. To see how he adjusted, of course. Given, Thrush also watched over all of his pack when it came to these nightly strolls. It was easy to catch wind of his familiar pack in the night, spotting them effortless as they moved in the dark. But tonight, there was something unfamiliar in the air... yet, it was similar to at least one new scent he'd acquired. Berserker. Making his way, the alpha caught sight of two large figures. The wolf that would have normally considered himself large was very positively demur at the sight of this massive pair just on the edge of the pack lands. One mountain in Swiftfell. One outside. He had been detected he surmised by the exit of what was an unfamiliar berserker speaking to who could only be Pheonix Ash. Approaching, Thrush made no efforts to hide his footfalls. " A friend of yours?" The deep husk of a voice asked with a lilt of curiosity, stopping several feet behind the larger wolf, lowering into a sitting position. WC: 281 Straye edited to add word count!

His head turned to meet the gaze of his Alpha. He'd heard the approaching footfall and had risen to his full potential to greet who came. Realizing it was Thrush, his tail waved in welcome.
At his question, the Berserker turned his gaze back to where his sister had disappeared into the night. He turned and he lowered his head in respect, ears back, his head tilted. "Yes, I guess you could say she is. A friend that only a mother's womb can provide; she is my sister. Evereve."
He lowered his chest to the earth, one forepaw crossing over the other comfortably as he faced Thrush. "She was the one who saved my life and gave me a chance at starting over." He was referring to the brief run down he'd given the point regarding his history.
"She's a rogue; however her life's goal and intent is to travel and become familiar with the packs across our land, and to act as a peace keeper and messenger between them. An Ambassador, if you will. For harmony, and neutrality in the place between territories, for Rogues and pack members alike."
Shaking out his fur, he cleared his throat, "She keeps track of prey population, change in weather, new migration patterns; unusual acts of violence between rogues, odd movements outside of the chosen territories of Berserker families and the Bear Tribes. She's a boon to know." he admitted with a wry chuckle. He twisted his hips to one side, shoulders rotating in the opposite direction and a few cracks ran down the length of his back, making him grumble in appreciation.
Suddenly, like a kick to the head he remembered who he was speaking with and he straightened up, ears back, eyes forward and down, "I apologize Alpha, my manners seemed to have gotten away from me. Thrush, were you looking for me?" he asked, remembering his place - being in a pack was still so new to him, but he ad the grace to look sheepish, realizing perhaps he was being far too casual in addressing the wolf who ran the pack.
