Patience hadn't meant for any of it. For her crewmate's death, for her Captain' fury, for the sorrow that now cast over the ship. She followed her Captain and the Crew, hanging at the back as she followed them. She rubbed her arm as she felt the tears that challenged to fall. She dried them away and looked ahead. She knew it was useless to apologize... There was no way for this to be reversed and she was to blame for it. She drew in a long breath and brushed her curls from her face. She wondered just how much her crew would turn on her.

When they arrived at the ship, Patience set off to her room. She dropped her things off before returning to the deck. She got to work, helping where she could and doing her best to not be in the way. Many of the crew treated her coldly and she let them. She didn't respond or react, simply choosing to go about with this. She deserved the cold treatment. She knew that and wouldn't argue. She finished tying a rope and dropped down from her spot. She landed and noticed a glare from the sister of the missing crew mate. She drew in a breath and looked away.

As she continued on, helping to get the ship going, her mind couldn't get away from the Captain of the Savage Siren. He was familiar to her, though she couldn't place it. She was lost in her thoughts, fixing a tear in a sail when the ship rocked hard. She caught herself as she fell, her breath catching before she could fall to the deck below. She pulled herself back up and balanced back on the wood. Looking around, she was satisfied with her work and went to the beam. She climbed down and dropped to the deck. As the ship finished prepping to sail, she finished her work and returned to her room. She was going to attempt to stay away from the crew.

Normally, Akantha would make quick work of ensuring her ward was doing her job correctly. No matter how old Patience got, her work was always evaluated by the captain. However, this day had Akantha's attention on the ship herself. She touched a few boards that had been harmed by the wave but found her more or less fine as a result of her beloved's strong magic. She suspected that the drops of her own blood on the ship were what connected to herself so tightly, but she wouldn't dare say a word. After relaying the safety of herself and the ship to Maryam through the safe process as before, Akantha returned to the deck to oversee the recovery and preparation to set sail. She drew her eyes away from Patience, finding very little patience herself to care whether or not the petulant child was alright. She was not a mother, not anymore, and if Patience thought herself old enough to deal with the consequences of her actions, then she would take them all, including the cold shoulder that many of her crew was giving her. She could hardly blame them for being angry. They'd considered Patience one of their own, just as much as Morena, the newly orphaned girl who had only just stopped sobbing to stand with the now-widowed Elizabeth, her unfortunate sister-in-trauma now, and help her. And in the eyes of the crew, Patience had betrayed them and her actions had led to the deaths of her two sisters. They didn't even have bodies to bury. Akantha hoped Elizabeth and Morena would be able to take comfort in the fact that the sea had probably taken them and that's where they would want to be.

She waited until Patience finally disappeared from view, having not bothered to look her way even when the child fell, and stood tall and gazed out at her women. "Weigh anchor, my darlings. We sail to Bormiel immediately. We're going home." It might've been out of the way, but Bormiel, the home of her beloved, was the closest they had to a home port without having to call home where John Muslin had his base. They would return home to fully grieve, and then they'd sail back out to be pirates once again. This was the way it was done, and Akantha didn't see any reason to change anytime soon.

                                                                ╔══════════════╗

Patience sat in her room, curled up on her little bed. She starred simply at her stacks of books. Her mind was everywhere as she thought of what she could do, if anything, to try and make things right. She sighed softly and looked down as she kicked a book from her bed. It wasn't like she could simply reverse time... If she could... there were so many things she could do. But she unfortunately could not. Her thoughts continued their assault, her mind drifting to her mother. She felt tears form as she moved her head, hiding her face against her arms as they sat propped against her knees. She didn't cry very much, just a bit but it was enough to send her to sleep.

In her sleep, she was restless. Once laid down, she tossed and turned and spoke. The sleep lasted a few short hours before she woke with a startle. She sat up and pushed her red curls from her face. She rubbed her eyes, as tired as they were. She stood and went to the deck. She climbed up to the crow's nest and looked at the other there. "I'll take watch" she told them, "You should probably get some sleep" The woman watched her a few moments before climbing out of the crow's nest. Patience watched them climb down before settling in. She leaned against the railing and closed her eyes, drawing in a long slow breath as the sea helped to calm her a bit. The moon had risen high into the sky and there was no longer land in view. The sky was clear and the only sound she heard was the water below lapping against the ship. Her gaze went to the water, her mind then going to her family. She wondered how her sister faired, what she was doing then.

                                                                ╚══════════════╝
