^_^! I just read the novel and I so want to watch the movie now! The movie has premiered in several film fests, and the 'release date' on the street is May 20th, but I'm not sure how it will be released, probably not in the major theatres.. sad Plus the film company its under has offices in UK, HongKong and Amsterdam @.@! So I'm very very scared that it will be released out of the country first. The trailer I saw was in french (with english voices) subtitles.
http://www.livejournal.com/community/greggaraki/28503.html#cutid1 A link to some screencaps.
Has anybody else here read it? Or is eager to watch the movie?
I'd try and give a little summary, but I'm afraid I'd spoil it for some people :X!!

Basically the story covers the lives of two guys, both were in little league baseball. One for sure had a romantic involvement with his coach (this was when they were 8y/o) the other experienced something traumatic that he lost 5hours of his life and was found in a crawl space in his house, his nose bleeding and stuff. Throughout his life he's had fainting spells, etc due to it. Later on he concludes that it was aliens, but the further he gets from the real thing the closer he gets to it (the further he looks into the possibility of UFO the more he knows it isn't UFOs). And eventually seeks the other guy out, who's become a hustler. Throughout this he makes some friends and experiences some funny things.
I'm trying to get lots of people interested in it ^_^!! Look for the novel at your local library =D you might find it!

There is a simpler summary(taken from imdb.com):
A teenage hustler and a young man obsessed with alien abductions cross paths, together discovering a horrible, liberating truth.

You're back! *rejoices*
This is what I get for being busy all week, every week. I was just at the library yesterday! I'll put that on the reading list.
For anyone interested in reading some really good [but lengthy] gay fiction, look into Felice Picano (esp. "Like People in History," for the more SF inclined "Dryland's End," and his first memoir "Ambidextrous").

And if you plan on putting that book on hold at the Calgary Public Library.. well XD!! I have the only copy in the whole system right now! I'm tempted to write a note and leave it there between the cover-flap(thingies). Btw, a bit off topic, but do you have any plans on seeing the Fairy Film fest during Pride? surprised since I'm interested in going but I have almost no idea on where it is or how to get there, etc. sweatdrop

Curses! I'll get it sometime. You can only have it for a month and a half at the most!
I thought it was the Fairy Tales Film Festival. I didn't have plans before to see it, though I have been intending on going at some point. I have no idea where the venues will be this year, the website is still calling for submissions, so I guess they probably don't have anything booked yet. The site also mentions that it was at the Globe Theatre, downtown last year.
If you're willing to go, I'm up for it.

I can't renew the book if you put a hold on it already ^-^ So yeah lol, it'd only be two weeks if there's a list of holds.
And yeah ^-^! It'd be cool to meet up with you to go to the Film Fest, *cough* hoping that they'll show Mysterious Skin *cough* Since its just a week or so after.. its 'Officially' released surprised
