Itotia - 1News had spread quickly through the small town Itotia and Kresimir now called home. The handful of dancers and musicians who had joined her at the newly dubbed Violet Strumaria. She spent many long hours selecting a name that reflected her personality but also connected to her roots. It seemed the village welcomed the new facility with open arms, as already they had a few regulars who would wander in for entertainment.
Stepping out into the light, Itotia glanced around at the excited folk, shaking her head slowly. She remembered this excitement, the thrill of a new culture and race that was discovered. She had been there when Yael was found, and was on the other end when Belrea arrived.
With this Kahikina, she found herself uninterested. A new race was normal it seemed, and she had too much to worry about these days than the possibility of them arriving on their shores.
Spinning around, she walked back into her dancer's hall, waving at the anxious dancers who seemed like they wanted to go and learn more.
"Go ahead then. Just be back in time to prepare for any customers...In fact...find as much as you can...I'm sure customers will want to talk."
As they scampered off, she let her mind wander to where Kresimir might be hiding. She knew he probably would find the topic of Kahikina much more interesting than she.

Now living in Baun, Kresimir often took odds and ends jobs when asked by the others living in the village or around it. Sometimes it meant protecting a caravan when it traveled to a neighboring village. Other times, like today, it was just to be an extra pair of hands. Today he had been helping some local fisherman pull in their daily catch of shellfish when they'd received some very exciting news. Many of the hired hands dropped their work in the hustle to hear just what was going on. "A place called Kahikina....." "....actually live...." "Really?" He caught bits and pieces of conversation as he finished his bit of work and the work of the other younger kids who left their work to listen to the news. It was only after the work was done that he went to listen. "My friend Massa just returned. He had just been on the boat by happenstance and told me everything. I trust this man with my life I know he'd never lie to me!" Interested, Kresimir listened as he depicted this new land and people as he had been told. Having obtained all the knowledge he could, Kresimir collected his pay, which today was a couple of loafs of bread as the fisherman's wife was an excellent baker, and made his way back to the Violet Strumaria. He found Itotia in the dancers hall and gave her a small kiss, leaving the wrapped up loaves of bread on the table and went to get cleaned up. "Did you hear all the excitement?" He asked her from the other room.

Itotia - 2She welcomed the kiss from Kres as she kept a keen eye on the area around her. It seemed that everything was falling in place, as the handful of workers were diligent and dutiful. It was clean, it smelled nice, and there was little for her to do beside mind the books and schedule. Considering it was still early and everyone was either out to meet the excitement or resting, she found time to spend with Kres. She liked it, the smaller venue made it easy for her to relax. She never wanted something as busy as the Red.
"Of course, the girls were a buzz..." she responded, referencing two young dancers who often scuttled around with excitement, "I sent them out to get more information..."
She grabbed the bread and set them aside to be prepared with the evening meals, smoothing out the paper as she thought, "I'm not very surprised...I mean...between the mainlanders in Yael and the Belreans...it seems almost normal to discover a new island every few years..."

"I agree. It seemed like only yesterday I was a child and the Obans were attacking." Kres said as he finished washing up. "I suppose we really shouldn't be surprised, though I'm sure the younger ones find it pretty interesting having not lived through our time. I can only imagine what it felt like to be on either of those two continents when we found you." He thought back to when he was a child or even a young man and had met Itotia, she had fascinated him even then. "They've said they're more of artisans, so I wonder what kind of trade if any, we'll get. I'd say it'd be interesting to learn their dances for you but I had also heard they live mainly in the water. Which, again could make for a different experience though I'm not sure how easy it'd be to learn." Always thinking of her. They weren't fighters he was told, so there wasn't much he could learn for his craft but perhaps a new language could be learned. There was also new land to be discovered. He just couldn't imagine leaving now when everything was coming together so nicely.

Itotia - 3She paused, her eyes flashing at the thought, before turning and looking at him, "Water? Wouldn't that be something to have a water dancer...Imagine a wall of glass filled to the brim with water as someone dances inside..."
It'd be beautiful.
She pursed her lips, mentally calculating the cost before shaking her head. Maybe if she commissioned a belrean, they'd figure out a solution.
"Well I for one am glad they aren't like the Obans...things have just started settling here. I feel like everything is running so smoothly..."
She remembered all the efforts she made into building this home, together with Kres. And now, the most exciting thing was a bunch of artisans across the sea. Their world was growing, and she was glad it was growing with peace.

Kresimir's mouth quirked to the side as he tried to imagine what Itotia was describing. He could....kind of see it. "If you have an idea it's not too late to add things, granted everything could be completely finished and we're happy with it and it'd still not be too late to add things." He worried more about the logistics involved in getting someone who needed to be in water more often than not to live any further inland than they were. Still....it would be something different for Itotia's vision. "I can heartily agree with you on that sentiment. While I will gladly enjoy the peace while it lasts, I'm always weary of the future especially if plans keep proceeding." He smiled a little shyly, referencing a past conversation that had started them on the track of the Violet Strumaria.

Itotia - 4It took her a moment to understand where he was getting at, before a rare blush spread across her cheeks. She leaned back against a table and crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing in through. He was right, they needed to be considerate of this new development with the world and it's impact on their...family.
Had they been in Yael back when the mainlanders arrived, she was sure they would most likely postpone any family planning. Too much uncertainty, and beside that, newcomers seemed to be an ill omen from the gods.
Itotia thoughts turned to her small shrine, back in the private rooms of the home where any Yaeli looking to acclimate themselves with the mainland could rest. It was a reassurance that even here, the gods were looking over them.
Itotia felt she was well protected in her home. They had a long path to take before any wars could hit them from either side, and she trusted in her allies in Oba to inform her of dangers. Beside, based on what she heard from Suria and Nedrima on their visits, Oba was safe and thriving with diversity these days.
Her gut told her that at least in the short term, peace was in their future.
"You said they are artisans, not warriors?" she echoed with a tilt of her head.

He loved that blush that came over her face. He rarely got to see one and he decided he liked it. Kres thought for a moment over all the information he had heard. "From what everyone on the pier had to say, yes. It appeared they did not work on anything of that nature. I think someone had mentioned they had some hunters for food gathering so unless they're just bluffing us out, it would seem they're only used to fighting wildlife." He understood the reason for the question and had to admit he had been monitoring things lately, wanting to make sure any children he had wouldn't have to have the childhood he had. Where his mom had left them with their dad before going off to war. They had been lucky, his mom had come back with no injuries but it still hurt going back and remembering that time.

Itotia - 5That was reassuring, that they were at first-glance non-threatening. She assumed that those who discovered the new island had spent enough time to see through any lies, so the most interesting part was simply how they lived and nothing more. No threats, no changes, and if they couldn't live above water...no real worry that the world would shift like it did when they discovered Yael and Belrea.
"Then there's no concern." She echoed her thoughts, nodding a bit before adding, "...Business is stable, I've got dancers and musicians who are trained and competent. While we may get a few new visitors, I have no plans to travel across the ocean to recruit anyone new. If they want to come, let them come. But for now...I..."
Another pause, before she shook her head with her braid swinging.
"It seems your mother's pressure for grandchildren is the biggest threat that could arrive on our doorstep...and I think I've run out of excuses for her..."

"You've done well getting things set up here. I suppose you had learned a lot from Aseara as well. He complimented. Yet as she continued, he almost visibly leaned towards her, hanging on her every word until she said what he was hoping. Kresimir laughed with the delivery before reaching for her to pull her into a hug. "I hope you do know she'd be fine wait until we're ready, so I hope this is your way of telling me you are." It would be such a big step for them and it had been so long since he had been around children, really the last ones he had cared for were his younger siblings. Well, mainly Vepkhia. Just thinking about having little ones of his own to spoil and play with made his heart thump with joy. He felt so blessed by Serin to have met such an amazing woman and was looking forward to having a family with her. "Yet...if anyone should come...I hope they'll be ready." Because they weren't going to get through him very easily.

Itotia - 6She let him pull her into the embrace, her arms slipping around his larger form and her face tucking into the warmth. She let his excitement flow into her and knew that this was right, that it was time for them to start a family. The world may be expanding, but that didn't mean they needed to continue to wait. In fact, she was hopeful her children, their children, would explore this new world and enjoy it for what it was.
An opportunity to see it in the eyes of Kresimir, instead of how she grew into it. She wanted their children to grow up strong, confident, and with everything she could give them.
Laughing, she pulled away as he turned a bit protective. If this is how he would be now, she couldn't imagine how he would be when he had a small bundle tucked into his arms.
"I have complete faith in to protect us, but I hope it will never come to that..."

"We can only hope we never have the reason to but also be ready for any situation." Gods only knew what he'd do if anyone hurt a child of his! At least he knew they'd be safe for a little while until they decided to leave the nest. It was comforting to know that right now the world was at peace so Kres didn't have to worry about there being too much danger for them on the way. He could prepare them for that, for whatever normal danger they might encounter in the world.

Itotia - 7As she pulled away a little from his embrace, she leaned up to plant a soft kiss on his lips, lingering slightly and just looking into his deep eyes. It was then the noise at the entrance caught her attention and she turned away to see a few of the dancers return, chirping about all the exciting news they heard.
Scales, underwater breathing, colorful beyond anything in Tendaji. Itotia sent Kres an eyeroll.
Heavens, is this what children would be like? More noise, excitement, discoveries? Well, if she could deal with a bunch of dancers and musicians causing a fuss, she could handle a youngling or two.
"Alright, alright. Go clean up and prepare for dinner, you can tell me all the news but we must be ready for customers. Shoo."
As the cook lingered to begin preparing, Itotia shook her head again and sent one last smile at Kres. Together, they'd figure this out, just like always.

Kresimir chuckled, thinking the same thing as Itotia. He however had grown up with numerous siblings so he knew it was definitely going to be like that unless his kiddos were more quiet like Vukasin had been. He quickly grabbed an apple from the table before Itotia could get onto him and wandered off to find a task to work on before dinner. One step at a time he thought.
