 Thulani was sat in the back of his little workshop, a pair of tools in his hand as he was set trimming down some leather for his latest order - a pair of boots. He wouldn't be the one to finish the product, but would rather pass it onto the cobbler once sized. As he didn't want to be the one responsible for delaying its finishing, he'd been rather preoccupied with it as of late. Or, well, as preoccupied with it as he could be with a guest visiting.
He glanced up at the ceiling as he mused over whether or not Blush had woken up yet. For her, this was essentially a vacation, so he tried to largely dote upon her and make sure the visit was enjoyable. To that end, he'd left a couple of homemade biscuits (not as good as his mother's, but certainly passable) and a jar of strawberry jam sourced from this relatively up-and-coming village - Breeheart. He wasn't personally familiar with the settlement, but they certainly knew how to make delicious jams and preserves.
He'd like to visit someday.
The day for her to leave was coming up, wasn't it? He'd need to take her to some gift shops later to send her home with plenty of souvenirs for her mother. And for her two... raks? For Ziva and Cote. Thulani wasn't sure what he thought of the pair that were evidently mooching off of the family, but largely hoped that they were at least helping out enough to earn their food. Ducky's farm had never been that large, two more mouths wasn't inconsequential.
Taking a breath, he set down his tools for a moment to look over the order specifications before glancing out to the back of the shop. There weren't any hides tanning today, so it was easy to see the little garden he'd had going with vegetable staples. Based on the shadows, he figured it was mid-morning by now. Sure, he had a clock as well hanging on the nearby wall, but old habits died hard.

 It was perhaps bad of her, but somehow Hanna had forgotten about the nice Pae who had helped her when she had first come. And yet somehow she was heading towards his shop without even knowing. She had a reason to come however. Meztli was wanting to get a few leather wristbands and she was wanting to get some for Beatrice too. Meztli was coming with her today and couldn't help but mutter to herself as she had to navigate through the streets by slithering around and using her wings to keep her balance. The pae still hadn't quite gotten the hang of how her body had changed and bumped into things quite often. "Please tell me we're almost there mom." She said, fluttering her wings and almost falling over after having to dodge yet another pae who had gotten in the way. Hanna nodded. "Don't worry just a couple more shops to pass and then we'll be there! I've heard the owner is quite good!" She said, humming a bit and not noticing how much her daughter was struggling. The younger one just gave a grunt of annoyance but followed her mother until they had managed to get into the shop. Hanna of course held the opening for her daughter to pass through before she went in and she couldn't help but admire the work that was hanging around. It wasn't until she saw a certain Pae that she exclaimed "Thulani!" As she recognized who he was, surprised that he was here.

Thulani glanced up from his work for only a second to acknowledge that the door had been open before looking back down to continue what he was doing as he called out. "Welcome in. Feel free ta have a look-'round. What's on show can be bought as is 'r modified ta suit ya needs, if possible. I also do custom orders for a bit more, though that depends on what ya want." He paused in his work to take a closer look over it before continuing, "If'n ya need me, just give a holler." While he was an overly-friendly pae, he was surprisingly serious when it came to his work, and right now he was working. Most of his would-be customers were either window-shopping or already knew what they wanted anyways, so he'd learned to take a more distant approach at first.
He didn't look up again until he heard his name called, and quite loudly at that. With a flick of his tail and a raised brow, he glanced over at the voice he didn't initially recognize, given how long it'd been.
"Oh, well I'll be, if it ain't Hanna!" True to his prior word, he set down his tools and stood to go great her with a smile and a handshake. "How long's it been since I last seen ya? How've ya been?" A quick glance was all it took to notice her... daughter? Now, Thulani considered himself pretty open minded, but he ain't never seen something quite like that, not even at that Venus party he went to with Aquarious several years back. What were those fish-pae called again? Naiads? Last he checked, he coulda sworn they weren't allowed in the City. He had heard some wives' gossip about a 'heretic' being sighted around town. Rumor was the Dragnid itself would take you if you messed with it. With an awkward laugh as he caught himself having stared a touch too long, and probably with a look of mild bewilderment, he returned his smile as he followed up, "Well lookit you, I'd reckon you're doin' just alright if'n you've got a family now. What brings y'all in today?"

The high-spirited angel was no angel in personality, she was filled to the brim with strategies and calculations of mischiefs that would usually be assisted nowadays by her partners-in-crime, Ziva and Cote. Now that was a bunch of fun and since being on her little vacation in the City, she is starting to miss their antics and wonder what they are up to now. Hopefully, they are not giving her mother any heart palpitations. On this fine day, the pink angel got up from her long languorous sleep and stretched, hearing her bones creak and pop from sleeping in one position too long, but it felt good to be honest. She don her favorite dress which she sponged the night before and hung it up to dry.
The young adult hummed happily as she made her way downstairs, finding a plate of biscuits and. She giggles, shaking her head and grabbed one, smearing a hearty amount of the sweet sticky substance onto the dry biscuit. “Thu?!” the young female shouted, following the voices from the back to the front of the little store he runs. ”G’ morning,” she mumbled with her mouth filled with two bites of the lovely simple breakfast, giving a one-two step happy dance where she stood. ”Oh! Hi! S’orry for bugging you!” she chirped loudly, giving a nod at the two females that has entered the store and was chatting with Thulani himself. ”Thu... we h’ve any hot tea?”

Meztli raised an eyebrow at the shopkeeper, almost silently daring him to say anything. He had been staring at her for too long, and it was starting to get uncomfortable. She knew she was different, she didn't even have legs! But to stare was too much! Luckily the shopkeeper stopped and eventually addressed them, but she had silently given him a motion of her watching him just in case.
Hanna hadn't noticed the staring as she had rushed over to Thulani to greet her old acquaintance. "Too long Thulani! I'm so sorry for not having come in sooner! I guess I just got caught up in things." Like way too much Venus-day partying. "Meztli and I were looking to get some leather bracelets. Meztli wanted some that weren't too heavy like the usual ones and I wanted to get something for my son too!" She was sure that he would like them.
Just then they were interrupted by another pae coming out and greeting them. It looked like she hadn't expected anyone in the shop and was wondering if she had come in too early! Meztli on the other hand was looking at the other female, and at her mother, and noticing how much they looked alike. If the other female was younger, Meztli wouldn't be surprised if she had some sort of half-sibling her mother didn't know about. After all, her mom had apparently gotten TWO surprise babies out of Venus Day.
Hanna waved at the other. "It's fine! I apologize if we came in too early!" Breakfast, or at least a brunch sounded good after this though. They would have to go and pick up some food after they were done with their orders!

Intentionally ignoring the little glare coming his way, Thulani laughed as he quipped, "Well, sometime's life just gets ya like that, ya know? Anyways, I'm just glad ta hear you've been well." He released his handshake to put a hand against his chin as Hanna followed up with her request. "Leather bracelets...?" On the surface it seemed simple enough, but there was one key piece of information missing.
His smile came more naturally this time as looked over at Metzli. He was about to speak when he realized he'd be quite literally looking down at her like this - there was absolutely no way that wouldn't feel awkward. Crouching down to bring himself closer to her eye level, he followed up, "Nice ta meet ya Metzli. So 'bout these bracelets... Are ya wantin' them for decorative purposes, or'd ya got a use in mind?" He'd ask for more details about her son later - he wasn't all that familiar with the needs of the naiads (which he assumed the son to be).
Thulani's feline tail flicked as Blush made her grand entrance in a decidedly-Blushlike manner. He turned to look over at her from his crouched position, arms resting on his knees and head turned. "Nice ta see ya up - ya got some crumbs on ya face by the way." He sighed softly at her natural ability to really take the forefront in any situation, offering Metzli an apologetic smile and a, "One moment..." before standing back up. "Nah, y'all ain't come here early, she just gone and woke up late." Another sigh. "'scuse me just a moment while I make some tea for the lil' lady." There was a playful quip to his statement. "I'll make some extra fer y'all too. Oi Blush, could'ya keep em company while I prepare tha tea? Or maybe ya can help out 'n figure out their orders - that's what I was doin' when ya popped down." He turned away to address Blush for that last bit before saying a bit more softly to Hanna, "Sorry 'bout this, she's visitin' from the Island 'n yer actually the first customer ta visit tha shop since she got here a few days back."
At that, he turned and disappeared into the back to prepare tea.

Blush blinked, patting her face, and then she went scarlet red, pursing her lips. "Sorry," she mumbled, brushing what crumbs there were on her and then proceeded to clear her throat. The young female looked at the other two females that were currently occupying Thulani's shop, licking her lips of what's left of the yummy jam that was set on the table in the background. "Hi!" she waved, beaming. "Thu makes really good tea. Anyway, not sure about all this, but what can I help you? Are you good at traps? I make traps at home for fun. Fun to see things go flying in the air. My mother, on other hand, isn't too fond of it. Ducky never was," the angel said, giving a shrug.
"So what can I help you two with?" she yawned, rubbing her face and shook out her heavy hair before taking a glance at Meztli, and then her attention was on the unique-looking pae'il. "Hi! You are awesome looking! Whatcha name? I'm Blush!'

Meztli wasn't sure if she should be insulted at what the adult male pae did, crouching down to her level, or if she should be thankful she wasn't breaking her neck. Her teenage mind decided on being pissed off. But before she could say anything, or punch him in the nose like she wanted to, another female sauntered in and distracted him, ruining her chances of ripping the whisker's off of the males face. She couldn't wait to get away from all of this mess. And puberty. That wasn't fun. She couldn't help but blush at the female's compliments. That was the first time someone, besides her mother and brother, had really said anything nice about her. She was wondering about the traps, her mother had given her a look though that said not to ask. She decided to speak with the Angel though, glad that someone was being nice and not condescending to her. "Meztli. I go by Mez too if that's easier. And uh, thank you."Hanna was quite happy that her daughter was being treated so well here. Though she made sure that her younger child did not ask about how to launch things into the air. She wasn't sure who "Ducky" was, but she had to have a good head on her shoulders for not liking the traps. She would have to meet her sometime. "We're looking to get some leather bracelets. I'm sure Meztli here has some more specific uses in mind, but I'm looking for 2 or 3 for my son that are decorative and can go around his arms/wrists and maybe have a design on them."Meztli nodded at what her mother said. "I want some for my wrists too and one for my tail!" She said, giving the end of it a shake. She thought it was pretty cool that it was so feathery at the end. "And yeah, if you can put designs on them, I would like some too!"

Blush looked to Meztli, smiling widely as all out and gave a nod. "That would be very cool! How about some funky looking designs too to match your personality?" she suggested. "Not to boast, but Thu is great at what he does and he's so cool to be around. A lot. Ok, how do I do this..." the young female mumbled to herself, raising both eyebrows as she looked around. There must be paper or something to document what they want because right now... she was lost and this was definitely not her thing. Much as she loved to design traps and catapults and the like, this was completely new to sell things to others.
The angel tapped her fingers on the counter nervously, looking over her shoulder wondering where in the heck did Thulani disappear off to now; surely it did not take this long to make tea?! It very well may feel like an hour to her, but it was just mere minutes that he was gone. "What did you say your name was again? I swear you look very familiar to me! she chirped, leaning over counter rather curiously at the two new beings.

"Ooh yeah! I want to see some funky designs!" Meztli was excited. This was the first time she felt like she was actually being listened to and they were going to make something that she really wanted! Hanna couldn't help but giggle at the teenager's enthusiasm. "I'm Hanna and this is Meztli. I have another child named Beatrice who isn't here right now. Not sure what he's doing..." She had barely seen him since he had moved out and after this year's Venus Day celebration. She wasn't sure what had happened to him, but she hoped that he was all right. She did wonder if he went to go and see his grandfather about a job. It wouldn't be hard to get it, but it came with certain conditions... Meztli didn't notice her mother's thoughtfulness at all. She had been in regular communication with Beatrice and she knew that he was doing all right! At least for now.

While the girls were having 'girl time,' Thulani was in the kitchenette area preparing tea. Given it was the late morning, he elected for one with a bit of a heartier kick of caffeine, a blend of black with notes of vanilla. It was one he rather enjoyed and generally used for special occasions, but the current circumstances were good enough for that. Besides, he'd kinda been spoiling Blush since she'd arrived - what was a bit more of the same at this point?
At some point the subtle scent of warm vanilla would have drafted into the main room.
While it steeped, he rummaged around to prepare a small bowl of brown sugar and a porcelain creamer with (as expected) cow's cream. He had to give it a small swirl to assimilate the fat back into the non-homogenized liquid. The amount of each he prepared seemed a touch expensive, but women tended to have sweet teeth from his experience. Better too much than too little.
Four teacup sets on a platter, one bowl of brown sugar and a spoon, one creamer, one steaming pot of brew. Still, it seemed a bit empty - he could already imagine Blush disappearing quite quickly to grab a snack to accompany it. Surely he had something else he could add... With a furrow of his brow, he went to rummaging through the cabinets to see if there weren't any snacks still available in there.
Aha! Lucky for him, there were some butter cookies hiding in the back. It took but a moment to arrange them on an additional plate, and now everything was ready. A smile and a nod, then a careful motion as he picked it all up to move to the other room. Perhaps it was a bit excessive for a singular customer, and one wishing for only a small order from his understanding a few minutes prior, but she was a friend first and foremost. Or, well, he had a bit of a soft spot towards those he'd helped before.
"Tea's ready!" he called out as he re-entered the room and set the presentation on the table. As the others came over, he poured each a cup, leaving about an inch or so at the top. "Please help yerself ta cream 'r suga'." The last he served was himself, and he kept his cup black and unsweetened.
Glancing over at Blush once everyone had settled into their drinks, he followed up, "Ya lookin' like yer in a good mood; 'nythang interestin' happen while I was in tha back?"

Blush clasped her hands, nodding in excitement. "All sounds so good. Oh, Thu! They would love some engravings on their thingies," she nodded once more, vigorously, waving towards the females that were in his shop. In the short time that he spent preparing hot tea for them with an assortment of additions for it, she was just all aflutter with getting to know the females. She did a little twirl as did a little jump, as she aimed to land close to Thulani and gave him a little poke before busying herself with making a cup of hot tea, sweet as she liked it.
The young pink-colored swirled female took a few sips of the hot concoction, smacking her lips while making a 'mmm' sound and took another sip. "Totally yummy, Thu!"

As she talked, Thulani couldn't help but think that such energy wasn't so bad in the morning and that she was taking to the customers quite easily. That natural charisma of hers was certainly undervalued on a farm. If she ever decided to move up to the city like her sister, there'd be no shortage of positions for her to choose from - he'd just have to make sure she didn't accidentally get taken advantage of.
That was if she ever decided to move on up here, of course.
He nodded after she paused before glancing upwards in thought, work-related this time. "Engravin's, huh... Lil' lass," he looked over at Metzli, "Don't feel like ya need ta know exactly tha types of designs you'd like taday, but if you do, we can go get a piece of parchment for ya ta give me some examples. Now if'n it's just an engravin into tha leather, that's somethin' I can do. But if'n you're wantin' some embroidery incorp'rated into the designs, I'll have ta pass it off ta a colleague o' mine for those final steps..." he shifted his attention to Hanna, "And it's gonna be more expensive 'cause of that. I won't be able to negotiate much of a discount for that bit. I'd also recommend y'all go talk to them before they start the final steps to choose your thread 'nd whatnot, but ya don't havta." He paused to let them take in that information and take a drink of his tea before finishing. "Now, it's fine ta not know right now - y'all can just come back in when I finish the bracelets before doin' any design-work and decide then."
