How can I get a noulicorn?
- Free newbie semi-customs are always open in the guild & on discord.
Once you have your first, you'll have to wait for customs, breedings, games, and events to open up!
How many noulicorns can I have?
- As many as you want!
Can I co-own my noulicorn with someone else?
- No, co-owning is not permitted.
Are there naming restrictions?
- Not really! Because the game takes place in the future and noulicorns can have access to human
things like books, you're welcome to name your characters whatever you want.
Names shouldn't be excessively long, though. Sentence-long names won't fit on the cert!
Are cosplays allowed?
- No cosplay will be officially recognized as such and there are no cosplay "claims."
However, you're welcome to name your noulicorn whatever you wish and if you want to base your noul after a character in spirit, that's fine!
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT & ROLEPLAY
Can I roleplay my character without a cert?
- Absolutely! You won't be able to redeem your threads for RP points until your noul has been certed and your journal set up, though.
Can my noulicorn be evil?
- Morality and ethics are complicated and your noulicorn can have whatever personality you like.
Even within the confines of "healing Vykeli" there can be a lot of different modes of thought and action.
For example, a Botanic-gifted noulicorn might despise herbivores that eat plants, including other noulicorns.
Your characters don't have to be friendly, kind, or pleasant just because they're unicorns!
What if my noulicorn doesn't want to heal Vykeli?
- The desire to heal the planet is innate, ingrained into a noulicorn on a genetic level.
Nouls who don't feel this are highly unusual and can't receive gifts from grandfather tree.
These nouls are recognized by a dark colored horn.
To keep the number of these noulicorns down they can't be made without approval.

Can my noulicorn be a different gender than what their lines indicate?
- Absolutely! Noulicorns aren't restricted to male/female genders either, your noul may also be non-binary, agender, bi-gender, etc.
Are there limits on familiar gender?
Nope! Your familiar can have whatever gender you please. The gender icons for certs are limited to the following: male, female, agender, and non-binary. This will effect breeding! Non-binary familiars can breed with other nbs, males, and females. Agender familiars require a bless blossom in order to breed!
What level of technology do noulicorns have access to?
- The noulicorns have access to everything in the ruins, but they lack the knowledge and dexterity to use a lot of it. Stone age technology is definitely possible, fashioning bowls/cups/other vessels to hold liquids or food in is a-okay, simple carts for hauling is also fine.
xxxxNoulicorns can't really make things (on account of no hands), but their familiars definitely can! So clothing/jewelry/harnesses/halters/etc are all possible that way. Crude smithing is possible with the help of familiars (and some good protection from heat!).
xxxx There are also noulicorns that can read, so learning concepts from "The Others" is very much possible. They don't have access to any functioning electronics because the power grid for that just doesn't exist, but it could be possible to have simple steam-based technology. Actual physical buildings like houses might be possible, but are largely considered taboo. More natural dwellings likes dens or tree cover are common and preferred.
xxxx In short, lots of stuff is possible, the materials are already right there and examples of the tech can be found in the ruins, but anything that would damage Vykeli or too much resembles what The Others did would be rejected on cultural grounds.
Do noulicorns form herds or tribe-like groups?
- Not really. Noulicorns aren't territorial and they're power structure is based primarily on age (+ respect for the ascended / noulicorns of higher magical rank). They wouldn't claim an area of land as their territory and their population really isn't large enough to warrant that. But it would definitely be feasible for some like minded noulicorns to form something like a guild! (eg. this group focuses on finding and tending to as many new species of tree as possible OR this group ventures far into the barrens looking for new signs of life, etc).
ITEMS, CUSTOMS, & BREEDING
What does pwyw mean?
- Pay what you want! Customs and breedings don't have a set price in Flourish because of Gaia's fluctuating economy.
How are geno leaves used in RP point customs?
- You get to determine the exact genotype of the noulicorn you custom! Meaning, you can choose if a gene is homozygous or heterozygous, or whether-or-not your noul carries recessive genes.
Can scuttle scales bite in defense?
- They can bite, claw, and thrash their tails! All familiars are capable of physically defending themselves with tooth, claw, or whatever other armaments they might have.
GENETICS
Are the PATN1/PATN2 genes for appaloosas on the same gene/locus? What happens if a noul has both?
- The pattern genes are on the same locus, but they're co-dominant. A PATN1PATN2 noulicorn is a semi-leopard appaloosa.
