WERK it! Runway Avatars
This thread is dedicated to avatars created as Runway Entries. Placed avatars are included in the first post with their category and ranking, and all entries are collected in subsequent posts and listed with their name.
Now and then, avatars that have been created for other reasons will be entered if they fit the day's theme. These are only placed in this thread if they have placed in Runway. The Sea Couture entry is the inaugural example.
For me, the most important trait of a good Runway avatar is for it to have a quick read. This means that at a glance, the avatar looks complete, leaves an immediate visual impression, and easily relates back to the theme. Detail work and creativity are only important to the extent that it elevates the quick read. Backgrounds are pretty much required, because they are a good way of creating a 'complete' looking avatar that doesn't require working with lots of fiddly details, and as much as I like using partial backgrounds for their shape, full-backgrounds are more in line with what wins. The ones that have done best in Runway, usually aren't always the favorite avatars I've entered, but have tended to be the ones that deliver on the theme and just the theme.
