It had been... well it had been a bit rough the past year. Hanna had another little one to take care of and was quite glad when she finally grew up into a little girl. It had been hard on her boy Beatrice even if he wasn't the one taking care of Meztli. He had been very helpful, but it had been overwhelming to have yet another child in the house. Not to mention that her father and mother had written to her and she still hadn't responded and ugh... she just did not want to think about any of it!

And it was around the time of year when the Valentine's party was going to happen, or would usually. But last time, even if she didn't remember it, the whole place had practically been destroyed and... well she wondered if there even would be any event this year. Would she get to see Selich again? Twice she had gone there, twice she had come back with children, but somehow never with his... She didn't mind it of course, she loved Beatrice and Meztli, but that didn't meant that she didn't want to be with the Selki.

When Beatrice had suggested going to the beach for a break she had readily agreed and the family had made their way to Cha'en beach and well... there.

As they got closer they could hear that another family had made their way to the beach and after a few more moments Hanna realized who it was! "Selich?!" She said in a somewhat high-voice, almost at a squeak and making her older child jump in surprise as kept his grip on his little sister.

Beatrice had heard of the Pae and couldn't remember if he had met the other or not. When he did see the guy though, he wasn't quite sure what his mother saw in him. Probably the hair. He thought as he couldn't quite help but admire the Pae's hair when he saw it. Perhaps he should grow his out...

It took some maneuvering, but Selich finally managed to get their mixed company settled on a quiet, out of the way sliver of beach where he sat down Hanna and Beatrice (who was old enough to understand, if not particularly care) and explained some things while Fenella, Sgàile, and Meztli played in a nearby tide pool.

There had never seemed to be a good time (or any time at all) to reveal his innate "magic" and tell her about his sealskin in between their annual meetings at Venus' temple. Now there was no avoiding it, his daughters being too young to remove their skins and Hanna being rightly confused about his fathering a couple of seal pups. So Selich did his best to lay it all out there.

At some point, Beatrice got bored (wholly disinterested in his mom's boyfriend) and moved off so he was sitting slightly apart from both the "babies" and the adults. That was fair enough; it was the lad's ma whose opinion mattered most at the moment. "So, then. Mah paeple are a wee bit of a myth an' Ah'd appreciate ya no spreadin' it around about mah skinshiftin'. Now, as Ah've gone ta the Venus Day festivities ev'reh year hopin' ta see ya agin, Ah'd like to formally ask yew ta attend this one as mah date."
