*Phara rested her arms on the windowseat as she gazed down at her little Aquamarine core, nestled in it's protective pillow. She'd had it for awhile, and it had yet to do anything. She was getting a little worried....were Cores like eggs and needed to be kept at a certain temperature to 'hatch'? Or was there some other special requirement? She wished she'd paid better attention to the instructions she'd been given when she received her core, but she'd been too excited and fascinated to concentrate on mere words at the thought of having her very own Jumi partner. Oh well...everything would turn out all right in the end. She just knew it.*

Lady Blackpearl Crystal sat at her throne, still getting used to her new height. Her longer, spindly fingers ran through a few strands of stray hair that lay upon her cheek. She had felt the time for a Jumi to emerge was near and figured it would be best to wait where she could be seen easily. 'So boring' she thought to herself as she sighed heavily. As she grew older, some of her patience had gone down. Sometimes she used to wonder why adults were so impatient..and now she knew why. Her free hand taped lightly on her leg, fingers pulling at black thigh-high tights. They were slightly uncomforable at this age. Pharaohess *Phara glanced around, alerted by some inner instinct, and realized her core had begun glowing!* "I-Oh, What...." *unsure what to do, she ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off. She decided she'd better seek the help of other owners and Jumi, and carefully picked up her core before heading towards Etansel's throne room*
*trying to watch her core and her step at the same time was no mean feat, but she somehow managed to get where she was going with only a few stubbed toes along the way. Pausing a moment to breathe, she peeked into the throne room to see if anyone was inside. The city had been oddly deserted as she traversed it* Lady Blackpearl Crystal's core glimmered brightly for a moment and she looked up. Her eyes met with someone else's and she knew they had a core with them. She began to rise and smiled, breathing a small sigh of relief.
"May I help you?" She politely asked, though, she knew why the girl was here... Pharaohess "I certainly hope so." *Phara stepped more fully into the room and held out her glowing crystal* "This is a good thing, yes?" Lady Blackpearl Grinning, Crystal nodded and clasped her slender hands together. "It's a very good thing. I assume you have had this core for a while, I remember it." She couldn't really see the core all that much from this distance, but she had a feeling it was an older one. She had been out of commission for such a long time.
"Bring it here, if you may." She said, making it about halfway through the room. "Just sit it down and I will begin." Pharaohess *Phara gave her core a small caress, and brought it toward Crystal, setting it near her feet. She then stepped back so it would have plenty of room to....grow?* Lady Blackpearl Crystal kneeled onto the floor. She hadn't done this in such a long time, but it brought back memories of past emergences.
Her lips pulled into an even larger smile and she remembered all this and a single tear shed from her eyes. It slid down her thin face, now lacking the childish cheeks she used to have, reaching the core at a slightly faster pace than before. Once the tear fell onto the core, it filled the room with a bright blue-ish light an the strong aroma of the sea. Once it finally cleared away, a small girl was curled up on the core's pillow. She stroked it gently with her chubby hands. The silk pillow pleased her. Her tiny lips were formed into a big smile. Her skin was the color of sand, and her hair the color of driftwood, while her eyes were the most brilliant blue, like the sea. Pharaohess *Phara let out a small squeal of excitement, unable to contain herself. She giggled as she too knelt beside the child* "Hi there! My name is Phara!"*Kendra looked at first Phara, then Crystal, then two small figures standing near the doorway. She continued smiling, but said nothing*

Her skinny arms wrapped around the wrapped box lightly, knocking on the door, she wondered if anyone was home, unlike all the other houses she visited. No answer. Assuming no one was home, she placed the box on the front door step. The tag twirled on its string in the wind, waving a message on the front and back:
"To: Kendra From: Em and Kameko"
Was what it read on the front. On the back it read:
"Welcome to the world! I hope we can play together sometime, and become friends too. Kameko is a bit moody and quiet, but I hope you can accept her as well. Have a marvelous day~"
Inside the box was a soft, button-eyed plush resembling the color of Kendra's eyes and hair.

*Phara frowned down at her reflection in a small pool of collected water. She peered closer, trying to see the color of her eyes, but kept blocking the necessary light. She just knew they'd turned green again though, and sighed, before getting to her feet* "Kendra?" *a small breeze carried the name and Kendra's little Jinn spirit popped up with a brief dance. Phara headed toward it, sure she'd find Kendra just beside*
*Kendra was engrossed in a colorful seashell her Jinn spirit had brought her, and only looked up when Phara stopped right beside her*
*Phara cheerfully smiled down at Kendra* "Ready to go back inside? I'm getting a little hungry, so I imagine you are too."
*Kendra nodded and reached towards Phara to be picked up. Safely ensconced in her arms, Kendra showed off her pretty seashell* "I like the way the pattern moves." *she said thoughtfully*
"It's very pretty." *Phara agreed. She didn't pay much attention to the odd things Kendra chose to say, just figured she saw the world a little different than everyone else*
*As they entered the house, Kendra saw a movement past the front windows. It looked like another, older Jumi* "I think there's someone out there." *she pointed toward the window*
*Phara peeked out the window, and saw a brief flash of green from the girl's hair as she rounded a corner. Curious, she set carefully set Kendra down and opened the front door* "Oh! How nice!" *She bent down and retrieved the carefully wrapped gift and read the tag* "It's for you, Kendra!" *She placed the box in front of Kendra and kneeled to watch her unwrap it*
*Freeing the plush from it's trappings, Kendra smiled as she looked at it, and gave it a hug. She adored it's softness. She'd have to remember the older Jumi next time she saw her*

There was a flutter of footsteps heading up to the door, and voices debating something outside.. "Hurry hurry!"The visitors knocked on the door and scurried off before anyone had time to notice who it was. On the doorstep, a small-ish box sat, an envelope taped to the top. Scribbled in neat handwriting, it read "KENDRA". When the envelope was opened, there was a letter inside. The letter read: "Dear Kendra, I know you just emerged, but I felt I should send you a gift for Easter. I hope that we can become great friends. Please enjoy these gifts, I picked them out because they reminded me of your eyes. Best reguards, Crystal Ichijouji" Inside the box, a small windchime had been wrapped in tissue paper. Next to it in a little bowl sat a dumpling-like thing, dripping bright blue water.

*Phara looked up from the book she was reading at the sound of knocking. She glanced over at Kendra who was curled up and sleeping on the floor with the plushie she'd been gifted yesterday. Her little Jinn had already zoomed over to the door and began dancing in front of it. Silly Jinn. Phara stood up and answered the door....but no one was there* "Hello?" *she said, confused, and after a few moments turned to go back into the house, but the box left on her doorstep caught her eye* "Another gift?" *she wondered, and picked it up carefully. Kendra's name was written on it in bold letters. Phara smiled, they had such nice neighbors. She carried the box over to Kendra and paused a moment, debating whether to wake her*
*Kendra moved slightly in her sleep, hearing giggling voices in her head. How odd. She wondered what they wanted...and that was enough to bring her close enough to consciousness to realize Phara was standing near her. She peeked through her eyelashes and saw Phara holding a box. With a small yawn she sat up, curious*
"Oh good! You have excellent timing. Somebody dropped off another gift for you." *Phara set the box in front of Kendra, then sat cross-legged herself to watch the opening*
*Kendra traced the letters of her name gently, then pulled off the envelope and opened it* "Easter?" *she spoke, and looked inquiringly at Phara*
"Easter?" *Phara repeated, looking startled* "I completely forgot! *she got up to check the calender* "Why do they never just say Easter?" *she mumbled to herself* "Getting us all confused with 'Passover' and whatnot..."
*Kendra opened her gift while Phara complained to herself, her Jinn cheerfully looking on. She laughed, quite pleased, as she first discovered a small windchime that made beautiful noises as she moved it. She carefully set it to the side and stared, uncertain, at the second occupant of the box. She had never seen anything like it before. She didn't think it was alive, yet it seemed to stare at her. She should probably get it something to live in and some food, just in case*
"Ohhh, what a pretty windchime and...um, water thing." *Phara had no idea what it was either, so she concerned herself with the windchime* "There's a nice breeze blowing right now, and I bet this would look lovely on the front porch." *Suiting actions to words, Phara soon had the windchime hanging out front and making a merry noise*
*Kendra's Jinn was absolutely delighted and looked like it intended to spend the next several hours dancing about to the windchime's music. She giggled, then looked back toward the water monster, thinking* "There's a bucket, under the sink..." *she said thoughtfully*
"I believe you're right." *she went to fetch it, and together they lifted the strange gift into it. It continued staring at them as Phara added a little extra water to the bucket. They stared back*
*All in all, it seemed to have been a good Easter. Kendra hugged her plushie as she looked out the window at her windchime. She'd be sure to thank Crystal next time she saw her*

*Phara checked it over one more time. It still seemed a little lopsided on the right, but she knew that was as good as it was going to get. Pottery would never be more than a hobby for her. Too bad, she would have loved to be able to make all her own dishes*
*Kendra turned another page in the picture-filled book she was admiring, The Ocean Depths. It had lots of photos of fantastical beasts and their underwater environment* "I'd love to visit the ocean floor someday..." *she idly thought to herself, not giving it much notice*
*Phara stood and carefully carried her creation out to the back porch to dry in the sun. She'd have to wait until she took a trip to Domina to get it fired and glazed, with the other little things she'd tried making. She then gladly rinsed her hands off, checking for remnants under her nails. Playing in the mud had never been her thing, and that's almost exactly what spinning pottery was like. Ugh*
*Kendra was momentarily distracted by the antics of her Jinn. She'd noticed that he'd dance for any reason, good or bad, as he was doing now. As far as she could tell, this time it was because the flowers needed watering. Or maybe because a butterfly flew by. You could never be certain*
*She patted Kendra's hyperactive Jinn as she walked by and offered Kendra herself a smile. She obviously preferred being outside to being inside and would probably even sleep out here next to the brook if Phara would let her. But she wasn't about to risk her Jumi ward to the capricious Naiads, Undines and Giant Octopi that you heard stories about all the time*
*Kendra acknowledged Phara's smile with a nod and faint smile of her own, unsure why they were smiling in the first place. That happened a lot though*

*Jinn floated along air currents effortlessly, drifting farther and farther away, busily exploring the dreams the breezes had caught on their travels. There was no particular favorite type of dream, they were all interesting to him. Of course, he might not have thought that if he'd ever stumbled upon a nightmare, but they were far too heavy for the breezes to carry*
*Kendra was carefully studying the strange blue carrot Phara had brought home one day. It was not for eating she knew, but had no idea what it was for. She wasn't sure Phara did either. She had bought it from a cute merchant who was passing through and claimed it was quite special and would sell it to her for a discount. It sounded an awful lot like that Jack and the Beanstalk story to Kendra...*
*Phara stared at her radio oddly. She couldn't understand a word they were singing...wasn't even sure it was english. Or really any language at all. No chance of singing along, that was for sure. She begin flipping through the stations looking for something familiar...*
*A storm was quickly blowing up. It wasn't until the winds were really throwing him about that he noticed though. Looking up at the angry seeming dark clouds, he decided it was time to get back to Kendra*
*A rumble of thunder and sudden static from the radio made Phara blink. She turned the radio off, stood up and went to the open window, just in time to see a bright flash of lightning illuminate the sky. She gave a little excited shriek and jump as Jinn came tumbling through the window at the same time, looking very dizzy. And of course making her miss seeing the lightning except out of the corner of her eye. That always happened*
*Kendra glanced over as Phara shrieked, not having noticed either the thunder or lightning. Jinn came to circle around her head, doing his little dance. She set the carrot back where it belonged and joined Phara at the window to watch the storm progress. It promised to be a spectacular one*
*Phara considered closing the window, but decided she'd wait until the rain actually started falling. She loved the smell of impending rain, and the breeze was strangely warm. "Lightning storms are the best." she thought to herself, and wrapped her arms around Kendra in a rare display of physical affection, and they watched together*

*Kendra paused, after placing away her latest book. There was nothing left to read. She'd read all the interesting books or magazines she could find in the house, and it was far too hot to go play outside. What would she do now?*
*Phara stared morosely at small wilted ivy that seemed determined to die no matter how much she watered it. Then again, perhaps that was the problem. Could plants be overwatered even during a heat wave? What a curious thought. Maybe she should look it up*
*dancedance, jinglejingle, floatfloat*
*Phara dug through old newspapers and magazines looking for articles on watering, but came up empty.* "Hm." *Slightly discouraged, she decided to give up her efforts for the moment but keep an eye out in the future*
*Kendra wandered out on to the back porch, where the shade kept it from being too, too hot. She couldn't wait until this heat wave was over...she missed playing by the stream*
*more dancing, some zipzipping to other places, and speedy hiding*
*a glance at the outside thermometer told Kendra it was at least 100 degrees out in the sun. Ugh. She wondered if she could convince Phara to move somewhere else...perhaps next to the ocean. That would be lovely*
*thoughts similar to Kendra's were running through Phara's mind. Moving did seem like such a nice option during this summer heat, but reluctantly Phara let go of the idea. She liked her home really, at least in normal weather. Oh well*

*Jinn was hanging upside down from an inactive ceiling fan, letting breezes from the open windows make him sway back and forth, almost hypnotically**Kendra stood under Jinn, watching his movements, and felt her eyes grow heavy with sleep. She yawned, then stumbled away to the couch for a quick nap**Jinn released his hold and drifted down to settle near Kendra's head and use his special wind magic to slip into her dreams, like he did every night while she was sleeping. He loved to share dreams**Kendra's mind slipped slowly down through the layers of sleep toward the ever-waiting World of Dreams. Lately she'd been having...well, they weren't quite nightmares, but they weren't very pleasant either. They were kind of sad really, like she could hear the thoughts of a lot people in mourning...*Free the dream within The voices calling, a song A prayer from deep inside you To guide you

((Gosh, I just don't know what to do anymore. Darn you imagination! Why did you have to die all those years ago? crying *sighs* Let's just start typing and see what comes out.
Hmmm...randomly had my Class Voice song pop into my head. That was odd. It's "Almost Like Being In Love" from Brigadoon, by the way. Nobody I know has ever seen that movie(I think it's a movie...), but I know I've heard the name before this. Ugh. I have heard it so many times since class started...I now get headaches during class if I'm not the one singing. xd
Pretty sure I'm not going to be going to the County Fair. I kind of want to, or think I want to, but my best potential ride is rather flaky, so... sweatdrop Too bad. I like looking at the animals and riding the spinny rides and stuff. Suppose I could do a journal entry about going to the fair...or math homework. xd ))
*Kendra looked around, eyes wide. Everything was so bright, noisy and dizzying. She couldn't decide if she liked it or not with the constant bombardment of distractions everywhere you looked. Phara seemed very excited though...she kept pointing at things, laughing and talking a steady stream. She giggled everytime one of the vendors referred to her as "Mom", for some reason. Kendra missed Jinn a little bit. They'd had to leave him home so he wouldn't accidentally get lost*
"Ah, the dart game!", Phara shrieked, pointing, before dragging Kendra towards it. It was one of her favorites; she always won. With so many balloons to hit, good aim wasn't much a part of the equation, she supposed. But whatever, it was fun*
*Kendra took a moment to lean against the booth and rest while Phara was distracted with her game. They were supposed to go on what Phara called the "Spinny" rides next. Or at least the ones in the kids section. Kendra frowned scornfully. She was perfectly able to ride the bigger rides without geting hurt, and found all these restrictions very silly*
5 hour laters.....
*Kendra was stumbling and yawning, past ready to head home, and it seemed Phara had just about decided to give in. But first, of course, the fortune telling booth and a few more souvenirs. Kendra rolled her eyes*
*Phara glanced down at Kendra and felt a little guilty. She'd offered to carry her, but Kendra was feeling grumpy and having none of her "babying". Just one last little shopping trip and they'd go home. She needed another mood bracelet or four*
Back at home....
Jinn whistled angrily at them as they came in the door, upset at being left home, before flashing up the stairs to Kendra's room to wait for her*
*"Bed!" was all Kendra could focus enough to think. Her eyes felt a bit sticky and her mouth dry from too much cotton candy. She yawned and finally relented, letting Phara wash her face and carry her up to bed*
*Phara tucked Kendra into bed, feeling tired herself, but still a bit buzzed with energy. She kept humming the repetitive fair music....hopefully that was not a permanent thing. Her stomach felt upset with all the very unhealthy fair food she'd eaten, but a few Tums would help that, she was sure. Yawning, she turned off Kendras light and headed to her own room to collapse. It had been a good day*
((Ta-dah! rofl ))
