Even through the countless battles, brawls, and missions that she has faced in her career, Taneju's skin remains clear of blemishes and scars. Though delicate in appearance, Taneju does boast a rather toned and athletic build thanks to her dedication in her daily training routine. Like most members of the Kaguya clan, Taneju was born with a pair of distinct red markings above her eyebrows. She was also born with snowy white hair and a distinctive zig-zag hairline, but she chooses to hide these features by dyeing her hair black, covering her markings with makeup and her bangs, and combing it out.

XXXXXTaneju has always been seen as rather shy and softspoken. Matching her dainty, delicate stature, Taneju has never been one to be the center of attention or anywhere close to being a 'big personality' type. Almost something of a recluse, it isn't that Taneju doesn't want to interact with others... it's just that she doesn't really know how to. While her training may have honed her body and spirit to incredible levels, Taneju lacks greatly in the department of social skills. To familiars, she is often seen as somewhat airheaded and klutzy. Though fiercely loyal to friends and allies, she is also extremely cautious as to what she says or does in case she accidentally offends someone. Constantly striving to be accepted and to simply fit in, Taneju's upbringing has created a lasting impact on her own perceived self-worth and is one of the main reasons why even to this day she chooses to hide behind a shield of makeup and hairdye to be more readily accepted in society. Though fiercely loyal and devoted to her village, one of her greatest flaws is her naivety. She is more than willing to throw her trust at people who at least seem trustworthy.
This is a stark difference to her personality on the battlefield or in the face of a mission. Taneju will readily adopt personas as needed to carry out an assassination, and play her role without fault - another possible reason why she is rather lacking in the department of who she really is (she spends too much time playing other people that she has lost her sense of self). In combat, she is sharp and decisive, with a strong sense of duty. Taneju is the type to carry out orders from her higher-ups without questioning, believing that every mission she undergoes is for the greater good of the village and its people. That being said, Taneju is also the type that prefers working alone, mostly because there are less variables to account for when she knows she doesn't have to consider/rely on others.

She is limited to using only water ninjutsu techniques - the most basic one for her village, in fact - but excels greatly in its use.

XXXXXWhere Taneju lacks in all of her other combat categories, she excels greatly in her ability to fight. Described as a prodigal kunoichi in her youth, Taneju has proved time and time again that though she may not be able to use flashy ninjutsu or mind-warping genjutsu techniques, her prowess with shikotsumyaku and her taijutsu ability more than compensates. Though decades of intense training, Taneju has honed her combat style to truly reflect the 'dances' that her techniques are named after, and with unparalleled speed and flow she dances flawlessly through the battlefield, leaving bodies in her path with every step. With the grace of a prima ballerina and the ferocity of a champion fighter, Taneju is known to be able to effortlessly control the flow of battle with her kekkei genkai. She is highly proficient in both close and mid-range combat, but lacks when it comes to ranged combat. Though small in stature and with a slight lack when it comes to actual raw physical strength, Taneju's speed and natural flexibility make her a difficult target to hit in direct combat. A testament to her skill as a kunoichi, Taneju had been bestowed the title 'Fang' for her clean but distinctive assassination technique in leaving lethal puncture wounds on her targets, proving her precision and intimate knowledge of human anatomy.

XXXXXThough Taneju is well aware of the existence and theory behind the use of genjutsu techniques, she herself has never demonstrated (or attempted) to use such techniques in practice. Taneju has honed her senses and body enough to be able to counteract the effects of genjutsu instinctively through activating the Dance of the Larch technique.

XXXXXTaneju is a world class stealth operative. Even among the ninja community, she is regarded as one of the best and most capable operatives there is. Whether it be an assassination mission or a simple recon mission, if Taneju does not want to be spotted, it is very difficult to track/locate her, and those who have the misfortune of being marked as a target often don't realize it until her bones have pierced through their vital organs due to her mastery over both the Silent Killing technique as well as the Hiding in the Mist technique. When it comes to covert missions, Taneju is known to be able to fully immerse herself in whatever role she needs to take. She is incredibly skilled when it comes to the use of basic transformation techniques, and is known to be able to enhance her disguises further through makeup, costumes, and her acting prowess. Her abilities as an assassin have garnered her something of an international reputation under the guise of Fang, though no one outside of high ranking Kiri-nin knows the identity of this 'Fang' persona.
Her ability as a sensor-nin is also widely lauded among the ninja community, which only further adds to her abilities as a kunoichi. Her ability to sense chakra extends beyond simply being able to tell if others are around her - she is capable of detecting subtle differences between signatures, and sense fluctuations that tell her whether someone is resting or in battle. Her ability to pick up on the subtle flux and flow of chakra enhances her own battle prowess when it comes to direct and indirect combat. Her ability to sense chakra over vast distances makes Taneju an excellent tracker.

XXXXXA history that has long since been lost in the haze of memories that fill her mind. Though fragmented, the pieces that surface occasionally are generally positive memories - memories of joy, happiness, warmth. Memories of distinct voices whom she believes to belong to her mother and father. Memories of distinct smells, tastes, none of which she has ever experienced since. Little is known about Taneju's true origins, of where she came from or who her parents were prior to her abandonment in Kirigakure. What is known is that she is of the Kaguya bloodline, once thought to be extinct until proven otherwise with her appearance and manifestation of the Shikotsumyaku abilities.
The truth of Taneju's history is rather unremarkable. Born to a pair of well-to-do folks that resided in the northern peninsula of the Land of Water, Taneju had been raised to live a quiet life, but it all changed when the peaceful town was attacked and raided by bandits. Her parents were but an addition to the death toll, and despite the village's best efforts the rescue of the town by Kiri-nin was delayed and the bandits had gotten away before anything could be done. Taneju, being only 6 at the time of the events, had no other choice but to live in her own nightmare for days, and so the only coping mechanism she could muster in her yet-to-be-matured mind was amnesia - to forget.
Taken in by the Kiri-nin as one of the few survivors, Taneju was placed in a Kiri orphanage. This, however, was shortlived as the village would soon learn that this survivor would be destined for something greater. Taneju had been born prematurely and never reached the same milestones as the average kid which attributed to her small stature, but she was also born with snow white hair and two red dots above her brows. For this, the kids at the orphanage constantly teased and bullied her. Cast as the outsider, the older kids convinced Taneju that she would never be adopted, that she would never be loved because she was too different - words that to this day still leave the deepest cut in her heart. When the day came that Taneju finally lost it, the child found herself in a brawl with five other children, wherein she came out on top and impressed even the likes of the old Mizukage, who decided to sponsor her education and training through the ninja academy.
After over a year of mental and emotional abuse at the hands of vicious children, the tables had finally turned for Taneju when she started her journey to becoming a kunoichi. At the Academy, she excelled in her studies, proving to be a quick learner and a natural when it came to hitting the books. With practical skills, that proved to be a bit of a challenge for Taneju, but her natural ability to Taijutsu made up for where she was lacking in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. And as she progressed in her studies and her training, so too did her fame within Kiri itself.
The day that Taneju finally manifested her bloodline ability, it came as a surprise to not only herself but to her sensei and teammates as well. She had always known that her bones were particularly more durable - in the fight with the five orphans, Taneju had suffered many blows from her opponents but never suffered from anything more than small fractures that healed within hours, while they all had broken bones that took months to heal. She never imagined that this was due to her possessing the bloodline Shikotsumyaku. But when, in the middle of a mission, she pulled a protruding bone from her wrist, Taneju knew something was a little off. With her newfound skillset, Taneju was once again cast as an 'outsider' of sorts, but to her advantage this time. It set her apart from the others in her class - she was unique, and people wanted to know her. To meet her. To see what she could do. This served as a launching point to her rigorous training regime. She was determined to prove her self worth. To make others like her because of what she can do.
With little to no guidance other than moral and emotional support that her sensei could offer her, Taneju's training was rough to say the least. But with time, patience, and dedication, Taneju quickly rose through the ranks in the village. By the time she was promoted to Jōnin rank, Taneju had already garnered much fame in the village for her abilities as a covert operative and her reconnaissance and espionage abilities. For her accomplishments both in and outside of the Land of Water, Taneju was given the title 'Lady of the Crimson Mist' for the fact that whenever she danced, her mist would turn crimson with the spraying blood of her enemies. She also received much international acclaim as 'Fang' after a slew of assassination missions made the headlines throughout the other ninja villages.
Her Fang persona remains an enigma to this day for the international community. Those who have caught wind of this assassin know only of one thing - that they are excellent at what they do. Though the gender and village affiliation of Fang is unknown to anyone outside of Kirigakure, what the people do know is the signature killing style that Fang employs - full penetrating puncture wounds through vital organs, and a swift death with no trace of the killer anywhere to be seen. Quick, clean, precise kills.
