The teacher looked up at the clock. It had been the half an hour assigned, and just about in time, by the looks of the boy wilting in the desk before her.
He was sitting with his arms stretched across the top of the desk, hands dangling off the far edge, chin resting on the laqeured surface as he stared mournfully at the front of the room, and at her sigh and closing of the book she was reading, he perked up, but only very slightly.
"You can go now, Avery, but I expect that you've learned your lesson," she said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, ma'am," Avery said dutifully. He'd learned the lesson that you do not climb on the school building when there are teachers about, alright.
"Good. Now, go on. Try to stay out of trouble."
Avery grabbed his bag and was gone in a flash, the door swinging softly shut behind him as he headed out the nearest door, the one that led to to the playground.
Once outside, he stretched his arms over his head, still holding the bag, and took a deep breath. Freedom never tasted so sweet... except the last time he'd just gotten out of detention.
"Hmm... what to do now?" he wondered aloud.

Scree. Scree.
The gentle scraping sound of the swing chains broke the almost ominous silence that filled the playground, the figure who caused this noise settled back in the swing that those chains belonged to. The boy stared down towards his feet, hat flopping into his eyes slightly, mismatched gaze travelling the short length of scuffed ground before him.
It had been a very long day, that was for sure. Spiro stretched out his legs, shifting his bag into his lap now. His usual mouse companion popped out from the collar of his shirt- he'd snuck him today. He almost wanted to bring his new frog friend along, too, but had decided that was a bad idea. One hand lifted, a finger scratching the top of Alexei's head and there was the sound of hushed whispering.
The quiet boy's head jerked up when he took notice of another kid approaching the playground- who was still around at this time? He cringed at first, but relaxed after realizing who it was. Not a threat... But a familiar face. He perked slightly.
His brows arched and he looked over the boy that was so familiar- yet he felt like he hadn't seen him in forever. "Avery...?"

Avery almost didn't hear the quiet question, but he dropped his arms and looked around, scanning across the playground until his gaze fell on the swings.
"SPIRO! Hey! I haven't seen you in ages! What's up, man?" he asked as he bounded towards his friend, kicking up puffs of dirt from the grass until he reached the woodchip covered area beneath the swings.
He dropped his bag by one of the posts, and plopped into the swing next to Spiro, awaiting the answer to his question.

"It's been awhile." The child agreed softly, nodding once or twice, kicking off from the ground slightly to begin a slow and idle swinging motion. "What's up...?" He echoed thoughtfully, trying to think up what exactly to say in response to that question. "Hm... Nothing really..." He hesitated.. Well, there was something.. But nothing he could really talk about.
"Everything's been kind of... Slow." Spiro felt rather embarassed admitting to that, although it didn't show.. His life surely wasn't very interesting. Especially not to someone like Avery. Certainly sitting away in some room all alone for hours at a time didn't seem interesting to another child.
"What about you...?" He looked back down to the ground, tail beginning to sway beneath him.

((*Drags colette in*))
The familiar blonde haired girl wandered out from the front of the school, head hung low in apparent shame. She shuffled along the sidewalk.. Slowly as if she was scared to go home.
She hadn't been force into detention... But the puffs of white chalk dust over her pretty sarkblue dress made it apparent why she was just now leaving.
It was only a few foot dragging steps before the girl let out a loud yelp as her face was suddenlly flying towards the pavement. "Aa!" SMACK.
Instead of bounding to her feet as she did when people were around, shesimply laid there.. unaware that anyone else was still on the school grounds.

(( Have to go for a bit. Someone needs the scanner on this lab computer, I need very desperately to eat, and so I'm going to go home before I respond again. ))
Avery would indeed find the prospect of sitting in a room boring, but he didn't demand that his friends have the same interests as him.
"Slow's not horrible, you know. But for me... well..." he trailed off a bit, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"I just got outta detention. Nothing too big, really, but the teachers way overreacted," he said, rolling his eyes.
He was going to say more, but was startled by a loud yelp, and he jumped to his feet, looking around quickly. "What the heck was that?!" he asked, before seeing someone laying on the ground. Just laying there.
Then the hair started to look familiar... and the clumsiness fit...
"Oh geez, Colette? Izzat you? Are you okay?" he asked, then looked over at Spiro. Was the other boy with him? Then he ran towards the fallen girl.

A hint of a smile played across Spiro's lips. "What were you in for-" His head jolted up, mismatched eyes narrowing uncertainly in the direction of the sound. His fingers curled almost protectively around his bag, and he drew in a deep breath-
"Colette...?" He relaxed after a few more tense moments, and then hesitantly slumped off the swing and onto his feet. What was she still doing here? Oh well, he was glad it didn't turn out to be some of the nasty kids who got held after school. Sadly he seemed to run into them more than his... Friends.
He cocked a brow when Avery looked back at him, and then simply shrugged and hurried to the girl's side. "Colette..? Are you... Alright..?" He tilted his head, lips pursing thoughtfully. She looked rather... Not so alright to him.

Colette's head poped off the ground to stare up, wide eyed at her two friends. She blinked once....twice, and then she was on her feet, rubbing the back of her head "Sorry! I'm fine!" She piped happilly, giving a wide smile to the two boys.
"W-why are you two here?" she blinked curiously. Her eyes suddenlly widened as a thought hit her upside the head "N-Not that i don't want you here!" she flailed a moment, before dropping her head. "I'm sorry..."

Avery looked doubtfully at the red spot on her face where she had landed. "Are you sure you're okay? I bet the nurse is still here... And uh... I was in detention. Why are you still here? I bet you're doing extra credit or somethin', right?" he said with a grin. He hadn't really noticed the chalk smudges on her dress, being as unobservant as usual.

The child frowned at his friend, head tilting slightly. "It's okay..." He glanced away, teeth worrying at his lower lip. "You should be more careful... You might get hurt real bad one day..." Not that he was one to talk, really.. But she was a friend, and thus she was more important than he was. Which wasn't a hard thing to be, really. Almost everything was.. He peered at the other two thoughtfully, and then turned his attention away again. It was strange for Colette to be here... Normally she went straight home.
She didn't wander like him.

The girl looked up slowly at the two, her lower lip quivered as her eyes filled with shame. "I..I!" she stuttered, quickly burring her face into her hands. "I... I.." she couldn't quite force it out. From her trembling it was almost as if she had killed someone.
After a moment of silence she blurted it out, shoulders hunching as she did so "I got in trouble! I was late.. and i had to clean the erasers..." Sadly, the girl really did feel horrible for it. The teacher even had to punish her! She felt like she was so horrible...
Ofcourse ignoring the fact that there were so many worse things than being late... Like climbing the school for example. But that completely slipped through the girls mind.

Avery blinked, a bit of a disbelieving look on his face. Then he reached out a hand with a little half smile on his face, and patted her on the back.
"You got detention? Wow. But, it's okay, Colette! I got detention, too. You see that?" he asked, and directed both of their gazes to the roof of the building, where something could just be seen over the lip of the roof.
"I got curious. I wanted to know what the heck that was, so I found a route up the side of the building using the windows... but a teacher saw me when I climbed past her office. So... yeah... I got to stare at a boring ol' wall for a half an hour, and Mom got called. I'm prolly gonna get grounded, too." he slumped and heaved a great sigh.
"And all for a stupid fan thingie, maybe an intake or somethin'." Avery rolled his eyes.
