Name: Nerosato Toshi
Nickname(s): Nero, Near
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9'
Weight: 170
Age: 18
Birthday: April 12th
Orientation: Straight
Likes: Nero likes quite a few activities on the side of his dream to take the world by storm; he loves to do martial arts in his spare time, whether that be through basic meditation, or using a tree as a punching bag. He likes to write, but his affinity for it has started to diminish as time passed, but he started to pick it back up recently. He also loves to socialize with those around him and being the center of attention. Last but not least, he enjoys shooting firearms at the firing ranges.
Favorite Types: Electric, Fire,and Fighting.
Dislikes: He doesn't like deception, as he feels that he's gone through enough of it for a lifetime. Underhanded tactics are for fools who need to fight without honor to push themselves forward. Quite ironically, due to being too exposed to water types all of his life, he is not a fan of those sorts of Pokemon. He much prefers the aggression that fire and fighting types exude. There are a few exceptions to this rule, such as Greninja. Naturally, due to his highly active lifestyle, lazy people tend to get on his nerves. Why would one be wasting so much time sitting in one place when they could be spending that time doing something a lot more meaningful?
Least Favorite Types: Water, and Psychic.
Fears: Nero fears no tangible being or object, but he does fear the feeling of utter failure and the consequences that follow. The consequences often self-inflicted through berating himself, his one true fear is to face an issue in which he can not overcome; to face the feeling of emptiness that follows as he stares back in its face with nothing but a hollow sense of hope that has long since dwindled. To face Quicksand where the more he fights the more he sinks within its cold embrace.
Goals/Dreams: While some believe that his one true dream is to be a Pokemon trainer due to his outward desire to reach the top, his one true goal lies away from it entirely. He wishes to create everlasting bonds with others and his Pokemon that will last a lifetime; only when he achieves this will he seek to reach the pinnacle and become a bastion of the Pokemon world that all trainers can look up to.
Skills:
Trainer Class: Martial Artist/Sketcher
Theme Song: Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer
Home Town: Cianwood, Johto
Personality: Nero is quite a fiery individual, his exuberance for training and ambition reaching heights that propelled him past his peers when faced with difficult scenarios during schooling. Despite his apparent affinity in battle simulator after battle simulator, Nero clearly distinguished himself from the rest of the academy as a risk-taker, often running on pure instinctual foresight rather than strategy; he reads the situation he is in as it happens, not before it happens. This often leaves him at a tactical disadvantage against more intelligent opponents, but up until this point it hadn't really been a problem. There is distinct aggression about him that is unparalleled when in battle, favoring quick-based attackers over slower hitters. His battle style is the perfect compliment to his attitude; he tackles all of his issues with relentless willpower, often bringing them to a quick, impactful resolution as soon as they arise.
He is hotheaded, a not so subtle aura of arrogance surrounding him and those with him; he believes he is the best of the best, and it is only a matter of time until he reaches that peak. While this arrogance constantly radiates around him, underneath the skin is a young man who is his own worst enemy, often beating himself up for any little mistake he makes. No matter how much he achieves, it isn't quite enough, but he doesn't let that insatiable desire to be the best stop him from relentlessly chasing his dream. It is one of the many motivators in his life.
Last but not least, he has a very big heart. He is very kind, often taking his own time out of the day to create opportunities for his companions to reach their goals. There is nothing he wouldn't do to help his comrades follow their dreams, but he always tries to remind them that the road travels through him. So they better get ready, because he won't relinquish his foothold that easily.
History: Hailing from the city of Cianwood, Johto, this natural-born fighter was raised by a simple fisherman and a retired Pokemon trainer named Arisa. Growing up wasn't easy for the young boy, his father only at home for dinner at the end of the day; it was a tough life for him. His mother wasn't exactly the paragon of mental health either, as the loss of her Pokemon sunk her into a depression that she never quite recovered from. Nero did not feel the love of his family early on, his father being extremely hard on him, and his mother often made dinner then went to bed without a word. Needless to say, it was a toxic environment the young boy grew up in, and he was left scarred by it with an insatiable desire to feel loved.
As the years passed, the only thing the young boy could do was work hard in school, hoping that this would gain the recognition of his parents. Nothing seemed to be enough for them. Over the years, he worked harder and harder until he was the pinnacle of physical health, which was only surpassed by his mental aptitude in school. But little did people know on the inside, he suffered. He fought an inner battle against himself, becoming the only thing that pushed his ambition forward, but also the only tether holding him back to his past life; he was his worst enemy. His perfectionism pushed him forward past many of his limits, but there was a tradeoff...he berated himself if it didn't fit his idea of perfection.
This continued until he reached the tender age of 17 where he decided that he would follow in the footsteps of his mother. After graduating from the academy a year early, he became a trainer. During the cover of dusk, he left a note on the table and boarded the last run of the ferry to Olivine. He never even looked back over his shoulder. His journey begins as a youth seeking the pride of his parents: but will he reach that goal, or fall short just like his mother did? It really was impossible to tell at the beginning.
