Battles System
Only Adults can battle
PvP only, sorry you cannot have a battle between two of your own pets and count it for stats.
Battles do not have to be rped if you do not wish it, however, if you do make enough word count in a battle you can claim it for stats.
Modifiers
Every 5 (Rounding down) stats gives +1 to the dice roll. Example: the CYOA asks you to roll a strength check and your pet's strength is 7, you would add 1 to your dice roll in the instance.
The First Post
The first post of the battle must have both pet's current stats in it as well as the image of each pet (can be the uncert, cert, ect) listed. See the sample battle for an example of this. The Title should have [Battle] In the beginning of the title to indicate that it is a battle.
Misses
Your stamina dice bonus is how many times your pet can miss an attack in a battle before they are too worn out to continue. Everyone starts with 1 miss no matter their dice bonus. This must be in your posts as you proceed with the battle and must be kept track of how many times you miss your attacks.
Stats:
Stats do not change after a battle has been started, so if you claim stats during a battle you cannot use those new stats in that ongoing battle. This is to keep things fair if the battle goes long.
Determining who goes first:
At the start of a battle each person rolls 1 20-sided dice and add their wisdom modifier to the dice, the one with the highest wins, this person goes first in attacking or defending. It is up to you what you decide to do, but this must be mentioned in your dice roll what you want to do first. If there is a tie roll again.
Attacking:
When attacking you roll 1 20-sided dice and add you strength modifier to it. If your total is higher than your opponent's defending roll then your attack hits doing ‘damage’ equal to how many points above your opponents defending total is.
Defending/Dodging:
Roll 1 20-sided dice and add you Speed modifier to it. If your roll is higher than your opponents you successfully dodged the incoming attack. If it is lower than you are hit and take ‘damage’. If the roll total it is the same and you and your opponent are at a standoff and no ‘damage’ is taken or received.
Winning/Losing the Fight:
Once you or your opponent is too worn out to fight then the battle is over. Calculate how much damage you took and how much damage you gave together. Subtract your damage given from your damage received. If this number is bigger than your opponents then you have won the battle, if it is lower you have lost, if it is the same then the battle ends in a tie.
Keep Track of Numbers:
Its easiest to keep track of all numbers in your posts as you proceed with a battle. To make calculating things at the end easier. Feel free to go in and edit previous posts after you know the result of each attacking/defending round.
