What would you consider powers like in FMA, or One For All in Boku No Hero?
I like to put anything that can be 'learned' in the 'McGuffin' category.
Like Fullmetal Alchemist, the Alchemists learn to do those things through books, or in Ed's case the gate beyond right?
So they'd still have to learn the science of alchemy. Plus there's the Sorceror's stone, etc.
The same aspect would apply to Harry Potter.
As far as My Hero Academia goes, (it literally is in the title of the series, Japanese too) but yeah...
One for All and All for One, are McGuffins.
Natural powers being transferred to another person that normally that person couldn't obtain otherwise.
The rest of the Heroes/Villains they are by case by case basis.
Some have transforming/Henshin items. some control elements, some can transform naturally.
Like Spider-man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, Capt. America, Capt. Marvel, etc came from 'accidents' / Experiments
Ant-man, Iron Man, Warmachine, and the like... Transforming 'Henshin' items
Mutants, obviously are Natural Transformations (With Elemental abilities for some), unless the initial cause of their mutation wasn't natural. (Juggernaut for starters)
Thor, however, fits in all four categories.
