In the shop thread:

ChibiPoet
Hm... well that means it's time for the two to meet! Oh, drama!

Azure clopped along her usual haunt, the beach where Poet used to dock her ship quite often. Most of the time it was a deserted section of beach, but every now and then she came across another 'taur. As she shuffled through the sand she thought about Poet, and about Chane and Little Deer.

Off in the distance, just within sight though Azure wasn't paying enough attention, the silvery-gray sales of Poet's ship had long crested the horizon and were making their way ever closer.

ChibiPoet
The ship got closer, there was much activity on deck as a lone woman worked at bringing the ship in. Her reluctant passenger was below-deck, hopefully keeping his lunch down. This ship was not enormous, but it was sizable enough to carry three to four people for a long period comfortably.

A shift in the wind pulled Azure's hair across her face. When she looked up and brushed her hair back, she saw the ship. It was close enough to be easily recognizable at Poet's. She began waving her arms wildly before galloping across the beach, she could tell from Poet's approach that she was going to anchor a bit north of here.

ChibiPoet
*back*

Poet dropped anchor a little over ten yards from shore in a place she knew to be free of rocks and rather deep. She glanced down the shore once and noticed Azure coming at a trot, then she continued to lower the sails. At this point her passenger came on deck, looking a bit pale which was rather difficult for her dark ruddy hide to do.

"Peir, hon, if you're able how about getting the raft ready for launch," Poet called over her shoulder.

Azure came to a stop and waved once more, though she could tell Poet was busy. The ship was turned toward shore a bit, so the launch side for the raft was partially obscured, though she could tell there was movement there.

ChibiPoet
Peirdupet took a few moments to collect himself. While he did, he hunkered down next to the raft, more of a small row boat really. He tried to get a good look at this "Azure" while trying to remain hidden. Eventually he realized that all this would do is verify that Azure did indeed look like the 'taur Poet had described. He took a deep breath and turned back to the raft, undoing the complicated knots Poet had done at the start of the journey to assure they didn't loose the little raft.

Poet took a chance to wave down to Azure and then finished her final check of the ship. Then she went below deck to her quarters, pretty much a small room for a hamock and a few items. However there was a small chest there, she opened it and with quite a bit of effort took the canvas bag out. It was warm by virtue of the thick insulation inside. Within the sack was an egg of unknown origins (at least to Poet and Peir).

Azure was begining to shuffle her hooves in anticipation. Poet had been gone for so long, and despite the times where she was very angry at the woman for it, Azure did miss her and so wanted to talk with her. Learn of any new adventures she'd had, as well as show her the arrows she'd made.

ChibiPoet
[ Sure. We're at the beach. ]

Peirdupet held onto the canvas bag as Poet entered the raft and lowered them to the water.

Poet took up the long pick and trolled to the beach where Azure stood waiting...

...with her mouth agape to see some strange cervi' aboard Poet's ship. Just who was this guy?

Syrcaid
Victor was beside himself, having time to evolve his discontent into a fullgrown sulk at his feet first took a step the ocean shores. He had wandered for days and he was furious... where HAD he hidden it? Muttering all the way, he practically beat himself for misplacing one of his hidden treasures.

It was almost more than he could bare. What's more is he'd forgotten what it was exactly he had hidden in the place he had forgotten he'd hidden it. But he just KNEW it was something worth finding again.

ChibiPoet
Seeing that neither 'taur was about to break the ide as Poet and Peit stepped ashore, Poet did the honors. "Azure, this is Peirdupet. Peirdupet, this is Azure."

Poet's mouth moved a bit, but no sound seemed to come out. She knew what this meant, why else would Poet have taken him out on the water considering she tried to keep those voyages secret!

Peir rubbed the back of his neck, noticing that Azure was visibly angry but he wasn't sure why. His eyes roamed downshore as though looking for a distraction. "Oh hey," he said, his voice cracked with nerves, "Who d'you suppose is down there?" He hadn't taken the time to get a good look at the figure a ways down the sand, and if he had there weren't many non-cervi' he knew in these parts yet.

Syrcaid
Victor was well aqcuainted with the lands he prowled about in the most, but he was unaware that there was anyone else on the beach as he went to walk the shore line for a bit of deep thought. He rubbed at his chin and muttered to himself.

"Couldn't've been the mountains, no... that was months ago... Was it the meadow...??" he held up a finger as though he were onto an idea, then his face went sour as he gripped his head and grumbled. "Stupid, stupid, STUPID...! I'll never live this down."

ChibiPoet
"Don't change the subject..." Azure practically growled.

Poet glanced over toward the figure Peir had indicated, but decided to wait until the 'taur, for even at this distance four legs were easily differed from two, got closer. "Nevermind," she said. "Azure, I know this is going to come as a shock, but I've been gone so long in oder to give Peir the... tour," she said with a bit of a smirk.

But Azure was quite observant and already knew what Poet was getting at. "Oh why don't you said it already, you're his Guardian! Aren't you!"

Syrcaid
Victor'd resigned to walking the shoreline at a slow pace, hands behind his back and muttering to himself trying to retrace his past -month- or more of steps in his head. Tall triangular ears perked up the moment he heard shouting amidst the crashing of the waves and looked about.

ChibiPoet
((Poor Azure. It's so easy to write angsty-teen when I simply think of my sister.))

Poet hadn't expected Azure to get so emotional about this. She'd mentioned once or twice that she was interested in the other 'taur races. She always assumed that Azure knew she could seek others to take Guardianship over. "Azure, I don't mean for this to upset you. Yes, I am Peirdupet's Guardian, and have been for some time now. I had hoped you-"

"Would understand! Would be happy!? You left me! You were gone and never said why! You were hiding him from me and now expect me to be happy for you!?" She felt choked up and about to cry. It didn't help matters that she also missed her one other friend beside Poet, it didn't help that she felt alone whenever they were both gone.

She balled her hands into fists and gave Peir a stare. "Maybe she'll get some other 'taur to replace you one day, then you can see how it feels!" She turned and began to run down the beach. The sand was too loose though for her to reatin her footing. She had passed the half-way point between Poet and the wofltaur foxtaur in the distance when she finally stumbled once. Twice. Then her hind leg flew out from under her on some too-soft sand and she fell.

Syrcaid
(( He's a foxtaur. X3 *being an a** and nitpicking... gets sworded* ))

It was always difficult to tell when Victor was being sincere or had a plan already hatched in his theive's mind. Victor only stared as Azure fell, but once she was there on the ground he rushed to Azure's assistance. He gently took her arm and opposite shoulder to help her up. He gave a sympathetic tone.

"Oh, now what have we here?" he said in his usual soothing, deep voice. "May I be of any assistance?"

He looked at her and smiled warmly.

ChibiPoet
((Ack! Sorry, I only remembered he had too bushy a tail to be a cattaur.))

Simply because she was in an emotional state, Azure at first flinched away from the help. But she looked up and was won over by the tone of his voice. Using his help she got up and gingerly placed her back hoof to the ground. The leg felt a bit sore but she hadn't heard anything break.

She brushed some sand off one arm, "Um thanks," she said. She turned her head down and away to whipe her eyes as well, it had also been some tear-filled vision that had caused her fall. She looked up at him and then she too smiled back.

"We should help her!" Peir exclaimed when Azure fell, he looked nervousely at Poet, his hooves dancing in place in the sand, ready to spring after her.

Poet shielded her eyes and saw the other figure rush to Azure's aide. "Well we don't have to rush..." She wasn't intentionaly being cold but felt instead that such a run might injure the egg within the bag. She had hoped this would go better... She intended to leave the egg with Azure, trusting the girl's phenominal survival instincts to help the youngling when it hatched since Poet knew nothing of the creature within.

"But yes, we still have much to discuss," she said to herself. "We may as well make sure she's alright," she said to Peir. She let him take the lead and hung back a bit as they made their way donw the beach.

Syrcaid
"But where are my manners, miss, forgive me," he said in his continually soothing voice. "Allow me to introduce myself..."

He let her go and took a low bow, his forelegs stooping low and one hindmost leg sweeping back. With a hand to his chest and one arm out he said, "I am known in my trade as Victor Brambles. What brings a lovely young miss like yourself out this far?"

ChibiPoet
Azure took a small step back as he did this, mostly from surprise. Spending most of her time as a recluse, even if every 'taur on the Isle made this sort of greating she'd still be shocked by it. "Oh, nice to meet you, I'm Azure," she said quickly as though her own introduction were an afterhtought compared to his.

She placed one hand on her horse-back, palm up as she twittered the finger of her other hand. "I come out here often actually, my-" she stopped herself and a shadow passed over her eyes. "I come here to practice my archery," she said quickly. She suppoed it didn't matter what she said about Poet anyway, she doubted the woman would simply leave after Azure had run away from her.

((Back and finished.))

Syrcaid
(( Yes, I do! X3 ))

"Archery, a noble sport," Victor nodded the crook of his forefinger to his chin. "But what, if you'll forgive my inquisitive nature, were you running away from?"

He walked around her and looked behind her before turning to face Azure once more. "Perhaps something frightened you? Upset you...?"

Victor spoke now as though he were both in conversation and talking to himself. Hazel eyes looked over her face with a gentle smirk upon his lips as he pondered. "I don't suppose... that is," his eyes cast two sideways glances, as though bringing himself to ask was something he had to work to muster up the nerve to. "Would you mind terribly the company of a mere foxtaur as myself? You see, I'm in a bit of a predicament..."

He bowed again and offered his arm to her.

ChibiPoet
Azure went from being confused to being rather nervous as he walked around her, she turned to keep an eye on him and then, now facing the direction she'd come from, looked for any sign of Poet and... whatever his name was. There they were, quite far.

Her face darkened in a blush, ashamed for running now that her head had cleared a bit. However she was still angry. She looked at his as he asked his question, what sort of predicament required her company to fix? She shook her head, "It's nothing important really," and since she assumed Poet would simply leave after this was all settled, then she truely felt it wasn't important that they settle this arguement. "And why no, I don't mind at all," she said in a rather surprised voice. It wasn't often that others saught her company.

((And now I must go to sleep, sorry to cut this short again. Hopefully I'll be around much sooner than last time. I doubt I'll stay online late Monday, but Tuesday I'll be on for quite a while as I don;t have to wake up early on Wednesday. Hope to see you again soon. *poof*))

That said Azure paused a moment before smiling and confidently sliding her arm through the offered arm of the foxtaur.

((Sorry, realized I hadn't finished that last post.))

Victor gently patted her arm with the opposite hand.

"You see, my dear, I peddle secrets," he began. "All my time is spent on this and sometimes... well, my secrets are so well hidden that I myself can't find them. And that's precisely what's happened to me on this -dismal- day."

He smirked impishly and produced a length of silver chain from beneath his black neckerchief and strung on it were several different rings, some laden with jewels and others simple bands.

"Some of my secrets are gold and riches," Victor almost whispered, confiding this in Azure. "Of course, a lady like yourself would most likely suspect this a dishonorable trade..."

He did his best to look ashamed of himself, he furrowed his brow and looked skyward as he tucked the chain away once more.

One of Azure's eyebrows twitched at the mention of secrets. It seemed there were far too many of those about; Cyn making Chane keeps secrets, Poet keeping secrets, and even keeping a few of her own. It was all too frustrating for her.

"Some secrets," she said dully, "Are better left hidden." She glanced at his chain, it was rather pretty. She wondered how he was come by them, but did not assume there was anything suspicious about them until he'd made his last comment.

She pulled her head back a bit to look directly at him. "Riches don't have to be dishonorable, why should I think yours are?" she said with a skeptical tone.

When they were still more than thirty yards away Poet began to quicken her pace to come beside Peir. She placed a hand on his arm, "Wait a bit, she's gotten help, no need to rush." She didn't want Peir to reach Azure without being there herself. She knew the cervi wasn't completely confident in himself and if Azure was still angry she might rip his to shreds with just her tongue as a weapon.

"I most certainly agree. The majority of what I know... Let's just say I can't help being what I am," he smiled, pushing the hair fron his eyes. "But I scatter my belongings throughout the landscape, thinking it unwise to leave it all in one place. Apparently it has turned full circle and I must be growing older because for the life of me I cannot remember what I had hidden here on this very beach."

The idea of treasure somewhere here on a beach she often considered to be hers was exciting. She felt a bit tied down by his words though, wasn't she supposed to see this as dishonorable? Well being forgettful certainly wasn't a vice, so long as you didn't forget about those you cared for... She glanced down the beach, they were still coming but in no hurry. Her leg still felt sore, did they not care? Her own self-pity kept her from realized there was no way for them to know she was injured unless she'd never gotten back up or something.

"I could help though I'm not sure what I could do..." For her own part she also tended to scatter things, only because she had not picked a "home" or anything of the sort. Rather she had a few places she frequented where some basic necessities would be buried or hidden in a tree or a small cave. She tended to mark the area with something distinctive to her, but could be over looked by others. "Do you ever mark these places as significant? Perhaps guide stones or trail markings?" she asked.

"Oh, no, my lady," Victor said looking shocked, his eyes twinkling. "You assume I could be the only one possibly hiding things along this very beach. There could be others who, too, hide their secrets. Sometimes... within the very grains of sand, itself."

That last bit he said in a hushed, deep voice. He continued to escort her down along the shore, one hand pressed against his back in a stately fashion, his large bushy tail gently waving with each step.

That made things much harder, though Victor made it sound like no matter where they choose to scoop the sand they would find something. How exciting! Her tail twitched a bit with a feeling bordering anticipation.

"So you alright, Azure?" came a familiar call.

Azure looked up sharply and realized Poet and Peir had crossed quite a bit of distance while she'd been daydreaming of whatever could lay beneith her beach.

"If ya really cared wouldn't you have been quicker to check?" was her quick retort. She then looked at Victor, "Sorry 'bout that, didn't mean to yell so loud..." she said a bit sheepishly.

"Shouldn't we wait for your companions?" Victor said, looking over his shoulder to whom she called after. "I would not be a gentleman if I did not at least introduce myself before we went on, no?"

He awaited her response at this point. In his mind, constant calcutations were being made and yet a fragment of this thoughts were still pondering on the whereabouts of his lost treasure. Perhaps walking down the beach would spark his memory.

Azure sighed a bit. "I suppose so, it's not like she wouldn't just follow anyway," she added in a quieter tone. She did give a slight smirk though, she didn't know why but Victor's words kept surprising her. She wondered if they'd see eachother again after this day, it would be nice to get to know a few others on the Isle.. especially with Chane away for so long.
