Taking the time to really stretch out her back, Shadowstar got ready for her battle against Wildstripe. He was a favorite practice battle volunteer. Power, energy and a really smooth set of moves always proved enjoyable.
Today, she challenged herself to fight the tom before getting her piece of the kill pile. A little extra motivation never hurt. Well never hurt her, might sting him a little bit. Mewing at him, she shifted into battle mode and shot forward going for a front right paw strike first.

Wildstripe finished his pre-spar stretches with a shake of his fur and a kick from one hind paw. Best to be limbered up before going paw-to-paw with the Riverclan leader. While he had little hope of actually winning the match, it was encouraging to do a bit better each time against the battle veteran. It meant he was still learning and still getting stronger, if slowly.
The paw strike landed, but ignoring the pain, Wildstripe tried to take advantage of the now close-quarters to latch onto Shadowstar with his own claws.

Being so close to another cat was a double edged claw. One one paw, she got a pretty good hit in. On the other, he snagged her with claws. Well, that was rude! First order of business, she growled at him and gave him another pointed smack to the head.
There was clearly a need to for a touch of battle manners. Some other cat could get hurt if he wasn't careful.

Ow! The blow to the head was mildly dizzying and it was enough to cause Wildstripe to let go. He stumbled back, shaking his head slightly. Geez, what the heck, Shadowstar? He backed away, using the opportunity to get some distance for his head to clear. He circled around the silver she-cat, weighing his options carefully before darting in quickly with a swipe at one of her hind legs.

Hopping forward, Shadowstar took the little 'motivation' to move around a little bit. The battle tires out the muscles that sore and bruise start to meld into one. Moving used energy but the trade off was worth it.
It also meant it was easy to whip around and bolt right at Wildstripe's right side with a burst of energy. Just a tap to throw him off balance.
