"Yes, maybe?" Dash grinned but was surprised that Kanja knew so little about his home. It made him reconsider. Were there really so many things to learn about the lake, and other bodies of water, that one person could not know all of it? But together, maybe they could. It really would make an excellent adventure. "Yes, if there are two of us exploring together, we might learn more than two alone."
He laughed when Kanja told him he needed to learn to swim first. "Of course I do! I think you're a great teacher. You are very patient with me." His grin became a little sheepish. He thought he was learning at a good rate. He planned to practice on his own, too.

Kanja smiled at Dash. "Yeah. A research party! If two or three of us study we might be able to learn everything." He was excited about the idea. He wondered if Amaryllis and Saga would join them too? But that was for later.
"I'm a good teacher? I'm glad! I'll help you as much as I can. You'll be swimming and diving with me in no time."

A party. Several people. He did not know enough people to be able to select a team. He only knew of: "Argent? Do you think he might want to go?" Somehow it did not seem like he would be interested. He would be bored. "You probably know more people than me. Maybe they would be a better choice." Kanja's excitement was wearing off on Dash. It made him want to get back into the water. Floating and only sinking when he wanted to. "Yes, absolutely." Kanja made learning easy. He completely trusted him. The fear took over sometimes, but Kanja had mentioned making fear into motivation. He wondered how he could do that. "I want to learn to swim quickly. I will practice whenever I can. I want to learn to dive!"

"I've met a few. I mean, we can't go exploring outside of the dome until we're older. And I think we're supposed to be good with a weapon so we can defend ourselves. So we can't go for a while. But I bet Amaryllis would come with us! And maybe Saga." He nodded, satisfied.
"I can't wait for you to be able to dive! The lake bed is full of neat things!"

"Saga and Amaryllis? We should ask them." He did not know if they would be interested, but he hoped so. "We can still explore the dome. Someday we'll be adults and go beyond." This was his new plan. Kanja wanted him to go, so he would do what he could to prepare. He would read about water and other things like hunting and binding wounds, and he would learn to use a weapon. Argent could help with that, even if he didn't want to.
"What's on the lake bed?" he asked with a curious smile. He had no idea what it was like, so he pictured the shore but with water. "Is it like on land, with plants and animals?"

"Yeah! I'll ask them when I see them. They're great." He grinned happily. "But until then, there is a lot in the dome to see." Kanja agreed. Dash's next question made him pause. "Hm. Kind of. There's soft sand, but it's cold and dark. The sun doesn't reach the bottom. But there are animals that glow! They're all really boney, so not good to eat. But it's really pretty when they flash colors! And there are some neat plants... I could bring some up sometime. I haven't tried eating them yet. Hmmm..." he thought about what they could taste like. "Oh, and some animals have these things on them. Like... armor but... hm." He wasn't sure how to describe the shells of creatures.

He tried to picture glowing fish. Boney, glowing fish. Underfed fish that glow? And they taste terrible. He had to wonder what they ate. Perhaps glowing worms and bugs? He tried picturing that, now. What a fascinating place Kanja could see. Maybe someday he would be able to see it too! Then Kanja described lake creatures with shells. "Is their armor like beetles?" he ventured.

"Hm... no, not really. Oh, let's see." He squatted down and started drawing in the sandy dirt. He tried to recreate the creatures. Some of them had lots of legs, and wore shells like spires. "Sometimes they leave the armor. I think to hunt. But they always come back. Some if them are really pointy too." He wished he could show all his friends... maybe he could come up with a way?

Dash watched as Kanja drew what he had seen in the darkest depths of the lake. "They can take the armor off?" he gasped. What animals did he know that could do that? Only people! Kanja looked a little frustrated. He put a hand on Kanja's shoulder with a grin. "Someday I will be able to go down with you and see them for myself. Then maybe we can catch some of these fish and show them to everyone! But not today. I think I've gotten a little tired after everything that's happened."
