xxxx X xxxxCHARACTER GUIDExxxx X xxxx spaceBefore you can make a character for the roleplay, you are required to read and sign the guild handbook, as well as the How To Play guide. All profiles posted by members who have not signed the rules will labeled as such by mods ("Sign Rules" will be added to the thread title) and will not be looked at again until the member has both signed them and edited the title to say "Signed".
spaceWhile we do allow you to make your own skeleton, there are a few requirements: spacexxx- The first post must use the provided coding, as we use this for the Cast Information on the Storyline thread. spacexxx- All information on the provided skeleton is required in some form or another. Please stick to the provided format as much as possible as far as what information is where. spacexxx- It is strongly preferred that you break the information up into separate posts, preferably the same number as the provided skeleton. spacexxx- Your version of the personality is not required to stick to the six trait format. You may instead write out a descriptive paragraph or two. However, the traits are still required for the first post blurb and must match up with the descriptive paragraphs. spacexxx- The backstory section must go last, and must be a separate post from the rest of the profile. Each update to the backstory after a season will need to be added as a new post.
spaceOnce your profile is ready for review, a crew member will check it. If it requires edits, they will leave an edit request on the top of the first post. It is your responsibility to keep track of your profile's status. If edits are not made in time for the upcoming season, your character will be frozen. If your profile accrues more than three separate edit requests, it will be denied. Belligerent arguing with crew is grounds for immediate denial. Failing to comply with the rules regarding profiles will result in a profile warning. Three profile warnings count as a guild warning, and the profile will be denied.
spaceBelow is a guide to the profile skeleton and how to appropriately fill it out. The skeleton is posted, with information in blue to explain what each section requires. If you have questions, you may post them in the How To Play thread. We will try to answer your question as soon as possible. Updates to this thread will be in red and announced to the guild at large to ensure everyone reads them.

xxxX First Post - Character BlurbxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThread Title
Your thread title should be your character's name, and a status indicator. Status indicators are notes that let other people know if your profile is under construction, awaiting review, or accepted. - If you are still working on your profile, please include "U/C" in the title to let profile checkers know it's not ready to be looked over. - If you have completed your profile, please include "NCR" in the title to let profile checkers know it's ready to be looked over. - Once a profile checker looks over your profile, you may note one of several status indicators: xx- "Accepted" means your profile has been accepted and you are ready to roleplay! xx- "Sign rules" means you must read and sign the guild rules before your profile can be looked over. Once you have done this, change the status indicator to "Signed, NCR" to let the mods know they can check your profile. xx- "Needs editing" means that your profile must undergo some changes before it can be accepted. The necessary changes will be outlined in an edit request at the top of the first post. Once you have made them, change the status indicator to "Edited" to let the mods know they can check it again.

← This is a 100x100 image of your character. It does not have to be the same one you use in formats, but make sure you can tell it's the same person. xxxxX FIRSTNAME LASTNAME xxxxxx ← This must include the character's first and last names. You may also include middle names, or nicknames, if you like. xxxxxxAge - ## ← Age will change as the roleplay progresses. Mods will make sure you know how much time has passed and the current season so you know what your age should be. xxxxxxFace-claim - ← No two people can use the same face-claim, except in the cases of identical twins. Make sure your FC choice isn't already taken. xxxxxx(Personality Overview - Six Traits) ← These should match the traits in the personality section of the profile. xxxxxx"Quote" ← This quote should tell us something about your character. It should be kept relatively short. It can be a song lyric, a line of poetry, from a movie, whatever your want.
Format code ← If you want to host your format on this thread, please do it here under a spoiler! If not, feel free to delete this.
This should be the date of your most recent update. This is to let mods know if the profile has been updated for the recent season. → Updated - mm/dd/yyyy This is the signature of whoever originally accepted the profile, and on what date. Do not fill this in yourself! Doing so will get you a warning. → Accepted by - (crew signature) This is the signature of whoever accepted your most recent updates, and on what date. xxxX Concerning Characters and Faceclaimsxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
spaceThis is an all-OC roleplay. Meaning, all characters must be original, not characters you have taken from movies, television, books, etc. We will be on the lookout for any character who too closely resembles a character from any other media, especially with regards to zombie and other horror genres. There is not a ban on using actors from zombie or other horror media. However, any profiles with prominent actors from these genres especially will be scrutinized carefully to ensure that the character is not simply a character they have played with a different name.

xxxX Second Post - Basic Information xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX BASICS xxxxxxNicknames - Birthday - mm/dd/yyyy ← Please make sure to include your character's birth year in their age! This way we can accurately keep track of how old they are. Age - Hometown - ← Your character can be from anywhere. The roleplay is set in DFW, which is a large area with many colleges and job opportunities for transplants from all over. However, do keep in mind that most characters should likely be from the Americas. Gender - ← Any and all gender identities are acceptable for characters. In the case of trans characters, you are free to choose whether or not to disclose that information. However, if you plan on making it a plot point for them, it needs to be stated here. We will also be on the lookout for trolls who try to mock the trans community in this section, so don't be a jerk. Disrespect will earn you a warning. Blood Type - ← Considering the nature of the roleplay, there's a chance someone might need to do a blood transfusion. We're canonizing all blood types for consistency and to make things more difficult in the future, because drama. Body Type - ← You can be as concise or descriptive here as you like. This is mostly so that other roleplayers have a frame of reference for your character's height and such, as they don't always match up 100% with FC's (though do try to pick one as close as possible, especially in the case of weight/fitness). Note: We do not condone body shaming of any sort. In-character bullying is fine, but there will be no OOC comments about a person's weight, or their supposed ability to survive based on it. Notable Traits - ← This section is for physical traits that perhaps you can't find a FC to match up on, like tattoos, scars, or piercings. Anything that deviates from the FC and is a noticeable characteristic should be listed here. Inventory - ← Here you should list any important or notable things that your character has on them. Weapons and supplies like MRE's or medicine must be accounted for. You don't have to list every individual item for food or medicine, a general overview is fine. Personal items may also be listed, though this is not necessary. If something has strong personal significance, though, it might be good to include it. Please keep in mind what your character's current traveling situation is and what they can logically carry. If this list is more than five items long, please convert it into a bulleted list.
xX ABOUT ME xxxxxxEducation and Employment x■ Graduated high school yyyy ← If your character didn't graduate, change this to say "Dropped out", then give the year and what grade they were in. If they are currently a child or teenager, include their current grade level. x■ Attended/graduated college ← If this is not applicable, delete it. If it is, list the college, their degree, and either their graduating year or current level. You may duplicate this line as many times as necessary to include their full history. x■ Occupation ← You don't have to list every job your character ever had; only ones that are relevant to their backstory, and whatever job they had during the outbreak. x■ Occupation ← The last line on this list should be their "current" job Hobbies ← You can add as many of these as you like, with a minimum of three. This section can be both hobbies they had before the outbreak, and those they've picked up since. x■ x■ x■ Likes ← You can add as many of these as you like, with a minimum of five. x■ x■ x■ x■ x■ Dislikes ← You can add as many of these as you like, with a minimum of five. x■ x■ x■ x■ x■
xX RELATIONSHIPS xxxxxxSexuality - ← Any and all sexual (or romantic) orientations are acceptable for characters. However, just like with the gender section, we will be on the lookout for trolls. Disrespect will earn you a warning. Status - ← Here you can list anyone your character is romantically or sexually involved with, or a partner they are still emotionally attached to. If the person is a PC, link their profile. If you are open to your character beginning a relationship, you can say so here for other members to know. Family ← This list can be as concise or detailed as you like. If you want to only list direct family, living family, or the whole tree, that's up to you. x■ Friends ← This should be based on your character's perception, not necessarily reality. You may list characters here who actually hate your character, or who are neutral to them. You're free to include things like notes on how your character feels about them. x■ Enemies ← Again, this should be based on perception. There may be someone on this list that actually really likes you, or who doesn't even know you exist. You're also not limited to actual "trying to kill you" enemies; someone you strongly dislike in the group just because they get on your nerves can go here. x■

xX Third Post - Personality xxxxxxxX PERSONALITYxxxxxxTRAIT - description TRAIT - description TRAIT - description TRAIT - description TRAIT - description TRAIT - description ↑ Replace the word "TRAIT" with an adjective or short phrase that describes an aspect of your character's personality. Then, provide a short description of the trait as it pertains to your character. These should be six distinct traits. Make sure none of them directly contradict any others, and that none are too similar. Duplicate or contradictory traits will need to be changed. If you prefer to write out a paragraph, you may do so, but make sure that the six personality traits included in the first post blurb are all covered. The paragraph should then be at least six sentences long, one per trait, although longer would be preferable to give a fuller picture.
Strengths and Weaknesses ← In general, a person's strengths and weaknesses often come from the same place. An open-minded person might be gullible, a self-assured person might be arrogant. So, we have them in a single list on the profile. Think hard about what traits your characters possess, and how they might help in some situations, and hinder in others. You may also include separate traits that do not directly affect one another. But, there must be three of each, so if you add a strength with no corollary weakness, you need to include a weakness with no corollary strength as well. x■ x■ x■ Fears ← No person is fearless. You are required to include three fears. They may be things pertaining to the outbreak (like the fear of being eaten), or things that predate it (like being claustrophobic). x■ x■ x■ Special Skills ← In this section, you should list any skills that may come in handy to the group. Things like medical knowledge, military training, experience with animals, etc etc. Skills do not need to be highly specialized. Things like cooking and sewing count. x■ x■ x■

xX Fourth Post - Backstory Part OnexxxxxxxX BACKSTORY - PRE-OUTBREAK xxxxxxspaceAt least three paragraphs, please! ↑ It is recommended that you include one paragraph per phase of your character's life. Birth/early childhood, late childhood/pre-teen, teen years, and adulthood. Sections where little of note occurred can be combined if they are especially short, though it is always preferred that you fluff those areas out to give us better insight into your character. Vague backstories or ones lacking in detail will be interpreted as uneventful ones; you cannot suddenly in-roleplay drop that your character was abused as a child, or suffers from a major mental disorder, without it being included in the backstory. You may be vague with references to things that verge on violating TOS, such as violence or sexual conduct, but if it is important, it must be at least mentioned or strongly hinted at in some capacity.

xX Fifth Post - Backstory Part TwoxxxxxxxX BACKSTORY - POST-OUTBREAKxxxxxxspace Anything that happened to your character after the outbreak, but before you created them. ↑ All characters made after Season 1 will obviously have backstory that occurred after the outbreak, but before their introduction to the actual roleplay. The second backstory section should be dedicated to this time period. Remember to keep it realistic, think about where they were, how they survived, who may have died around them, etc. This is not likely to be a period where nothing interesting happened, so it needs to be detailed.

xX Sixth Post - Backstory Part ThreexxxxxxxX BACKSTORY - SEASON #xxxxxxStatus -
spaceAnything notable that happened to your character during the most recent season, including their part in the plot. ↑ Members will be required to write up a backstory update following the end of each season. The update should cover their story arc and include their status at the end of the season (living, dead, undead, or anything else important). Dead characters will require a final update, which includes how they died. Members can choose to update this section as the season progresses, or update it at the end once everything is said and done and we are gearing up for the next. However, any updates made while the season is still in progress must either have been posted in-roleplay, or at least discussed publicly for reference (such as an off-screen sexual interaction being mentioned in OOC notes). If your backstory is not updated and approved by the start of the new season, your character will be frozen for up to a week. Once a week passes, they will be added to the upcoming deaths.
