Guidelines for Romance Fiction: This should go without saying but be respectful to your fellow writers. If you are uncomfortable with something that is going on, tell them. If they disregard, report it to a moderator.
GaiaOnline terms of service, rules and guidelines apply in any and all posts within this guild and within this subforum. If you are found to be in violation of these, you will be removed from the guild for a period. After which, if you would like to rejoin, you may. If you continue to violate these rules, you will be banned. The same applies to the rules and guidelines for the guild. You have been warned.

Rules for Romance Fiction: 1. You cannot play as a character from the series. This is a creative writing guild and as such, we encourage you to create your own character(s). They can exist in the same world, at the same time, as the original creator's characters but you cannot be that character(s). Those characters belong to their creators, their writers, not you.
2. You must give credit to the creator of the world in which you are writing. If you're writing from a novel or book series, list the author and series/book title. If you are writing from a show or movie, list the movie.
3. If you are using a character image from a different world, list the series on your initial character profile post.
4. For 18+ scenarios, or if you think one is going to occur, please edit your original thread title to include the 18+. Example, "A running gambit" is your original title. If it goes 18+, edit your title to be "A running gambit, 18+". It's very simple and warns folks who may not appreciate 18+ content.
5. Please ensure you label your story thread correctly. To ensure you are getting the writers you do or do not want, please put Not Accepting New Writers [NANW] or New Writers Welcome [NWW] at the end of your title.
6. Characters and their actions belong to their writers. Therefore, if you are performing an act on another person's character (an attack, a handshake, etc.), you must allow the other person to either accept or decline the action by leaving your action open ended. Example, "I grabbed his hand and shook it vigorously." is not acceptable. Instead "I reached forward to grab his hand, intending to give a vigorous handshake." whereby the other person can either accept "I declined to accept the handshake, keeping my hands firmly in my pockets." or "I took his hand, surprised at the vigor and strength in which he shook hands with me." Some people may be okay with certain actions happening. Discuss what is acceptable to the other writer(s) to make sure no one becomes offended or feels used.
7. Romance will often inherently drift into the 18+ realm. Therefore, we ask that all story threads carry the 18+ warning either until it becomes 18+ or if it culminates without any 18+ actions occurring.
8. Romance does not have to include 18+. Please don't feel like you have to have sexual overtones in your writing to write here.
9. All genders, orientations, life choices, and people are welcome to write in this subforum. There is nothing wrong with how you choose to be romantic nor is there anything wrong with WHO you choose to be romantic with. We only ask that you place the LBTQA+ at the end of your title.
10. Be respectful. I say this again because often times people confuse respect as being a one way street. It is not. If you violate this, you will be warned, removed, or banned.
