First Post Guidelines For your first post when creating a new story in any of the subforums, please follow the code guidelines listed in the General Guidelines & Rules subforum. All first posts should include details of the world in which your characters are (not too heavy but enough that readers or writers don't have to struggle with what is going on. The code will have all you need to fill out and you can add to it as needed in your post.

Character posts Character posts should come immediately after the first post for the initial writers. You have two options here. Either each writer can post their character in a separate post, which is effective for editing purposes if your characters are liable to change at some point in the story. Or you can create a single character post and add characters as they go. How to do this will be in the General Guidelines & Rules subforum. It is up to you how you wish to do this.

Adding/Removing writers If at any point you wish to join or a story or wish to add a writer to a story, please consult all current writers. Dropping someone in unexpectedly can cause issues with all parties.
To avoid this, please be sure to place Not Accepting New Writers [NANW] or New Writers Welcome [NWW] to your first post. Doing so will prevent people from dropping in without permission (hopefully) and provide control over the setting.
If you wish to add a new writer, they should have a completed character profile that you can add to a pre-existing character post. If you are removing a writer, please do not remove their character profile from the thread. Merely use the Strike option and add Discontinued to their character name.
Any conflicts that arise should be handled between writers, to the best of your ability. However, if you are unable to resolve the conflict and would like assistance, please notify the Moderators of the issue.

Adding/Editing/Removing characters
Adding a character: If you are just beginning your story, please add all character profiles to the beginning of the post. If you are not planning to involve other writers, you may choose to do individual posts for each character. Please do this before beginning to write. If you are planning to add other writers or think you may do so, please create a single character post listing. Doing this will ensure you do not have random character profiles in the middle of your story. Merely add the new characters to the original character post. Either of these options are up to the writers and their story. These are, as the thread is titled, merely guidelines. Suggestions.
Editing a character: If your character changes in some way from your original post that is not as simple as a clothing change, you will need to edit your original post. In other words, if Character A looses an arm or changes his/her hair or changes his/her entire look. If you are not the original poster (and so cannot edit), you will need to alert whoever made the post and have them post your edits. Do NOT ask them to make the changes. You are responsible for changing the code of your original character and then sending it to them so they can merely copy/paste.
Removing a character: If a character dies, is replaced, a writer leaves or some other variation of those, the character needs to be removed from the original post. However, as that character was initially part of the world, this is not usually as easy as merely saying "he died" and deleting the character profile. Unless the writer specifically asks that the character profile be deleted from the world, that profile needs to stay. To indicate the character is no longer in play, merely use [strike ][/ strike] to cross out all the character information and place Discontinued at the end of the character name.
