A small boy sat huddled near a table. Said table was empty, save for a paper lantern that normally would've been hung from the ceiling, a book at the edge colored with a shining moon, and a bottle of ink. The only window that could be seen was covered, the shades drawn tight so that the only light provided to the room was the flicker of the lantern. The boy held a journal in his lap and a feather quill awkwardly in his hand. No matter how many time the girl who watched him had tried to get him to use a normal pen, he had refused time and time again. Something about the feather quill was important to him, even as his writing was sloppy, such as a young child, fresh into school, would have.
She said we are going somewhere today. I wish I knew where 'somewhere' was. I do not like not knowing where I am going to go.
Lifting his gaze from the page he was currently scribbling on, he allowed himself one good look at his surroundings. How long had he lived here? It had to have been a while. Once more, he returned his attention to the paper.
She is always trying to get me out of the house. I do not know why.
Running the feather along his jaw, the boy sighed.
I guess I will go. Just so she will leave me alone.
As soon as these last words were carefully places upon the page, a loud running could be heard. It was obvious something was coming down the hall. And towards the very door the boy was sitting behind...
"Sven! Let's go!" Sae, a bright spirited redhead, called as pushed open the door with such force that it swung and hit the wall. Placid faced Sven seemed unaffected. "C'mon, c'mon!" The girl stepped light-footed into the room, grabbing the little boy by the arm. "I really think you'll like it were we're going!"
The book and quill dropped to the floor unnoticed. Again, Sven seemed to pay no mind. They were his things, sure, but he didn't much care what part of the floor they happened to lay upon. They would still be there when he returned.
He hadn't noticed it before, but his caretaker was clad in a strange outfit that showed much more of her skin than he ever remembered seeing.
----------
It didn't take long. Soon, Sae was unpacking her things onto the sand. Sven stood stoic at her side, confused by his new surroundings. The sights and sounds and smells; they were all different than anything he'd ever experienced before.
"Welcome to the beach, Sven!" Sae said happily, moving him easily so that soon he was sitting on a black and white beach towel. That in itself would've been fine, but he jumped as he felt something cold and slimey in texture being rubbed on his skin. "We wouldn't want you to burn," the redhead answered his unasked question with a smile. Only a flicker of emotion flashed across his features. He looked slightly annoyed.

Danica sat on the back deck of Rhia's home, facing the beach and listening to the waves that crashed on the shore not that far from where she sat. Her legs were crossed, and in her lap her small, dark hands were curled around a circular jar that glistened in the sun. She didn't know where her guardian had acquired the thing (which was rather fat-looking and cute), but she was told it looked exactly like the jar she had come from, just with different colors than hers had been gently swirling within the container.
As she gazed down at it, her icy blue eyes filled with wonder and questions that at the moment couldn't be answered, she didn't hear someone slip out onto the deck and come up behind her. She let out a stifled shriek as a pale hand, wrist adorned with a golden cuff, tapped her on the shoulder. She jolted and lurched to her feet, nearly dropping the small jar onto the boards beneath her feet in the process.
She clutched it to her chest, issuing a loud sigh of relief, before whirling on the person who was so rude to have snuck up on her like that, "Tynan! I oughta go tell Rhia right now. You nearly made me drop her new jar, it could've broke!"
"Relax," Tynan rolled his eyes and landed next to Danica, small wings flitting for a moment before falling still. "I knew you weren't going to drop the cruddy jar."
"Don't call it that!" She hissed at him, hands clenching the jar tightly and pale eyes flashing, "It's going to turn into the same thing I am soon, Rhia said so. I hope it's a boy and he can kick your butt!"
"I doubt that." Tynan sneered down at the inanimate object, thin arms crossing over his equally thin chest. His tail coiled for a moment, golden eyes focusing on a point down along the beach a ways before he walked over to the railing. Placing his hands on the painted wood, he squinted a moment. "What is that?"
"A figment of your imagination, probably." Danica spat, still slightly unruffled at almost dropping the jar. She pulled it away from her small body long enough to gaze at the colors, primarily dark red and an off white, before finally taking a spot next to Tynan and looking out over the sand as he was. Like the other Fury, she squinted, at first seeing nothing but a black blob, but as she watched the blob moved and became two smaller ones. "I think they're people."
"Wow, you're smart." Tynan glanced down at her long enough to roll his eyes, "What are they doing over there?"
"Probably having fun, something you wouldn't know about." Danica stuck her tongue out at him as he glared at her, but before he could do anything she flitted over the railing and landed in the warm sand; her bare feet immediately sinking. She started off towards the blobs, already a few details emerging as she drew closer.
"What the heck are you doing?" Tynan called after her, "Rhia won't like you making off with her precious jar!"
She shot him a look over her shoulder, but didn't answer. Instead she just trudged onwards through the sand, the small jar once again clutched protectively to her chest. The other Fury stayed right where he was, giving a shake of his head as he stared at her back through raven colored bangs, while the girl made her way towards the pair on the beach.

Over the gentle, yet surrounding rush of ocean waves as they slid up the beach, normal hearing would provide no clue of the impending company. Sae, however, had been gifted with exceptional hearing. Many people had told her it was to make up for her lack of ability concerning anything else, however, she just waved them off. She didn't need anyone bringing her down. The redhead's elven ears twitched as the soft sound of shifting rose from behind them. She then turned her head to look, the view of whatever was coming their way about as clear as it currently was to said something.
"Do you think it's a person?" Sae asked curiously, squinting and straining her eyes to see. Sven was not so curious, however, as he could feel the girl's hand, still covered in the clammy half-liquid, hovered over his back. It was annoying enough to have the stuff rubbed all over him, but to have it dripping slowly in tickling lines from her hand was much worse.
"Mm..." was the most responce he offered to her question. He didn't even turn to look.
"Well, I wanna know." Sae removed her vision from the object in question for a moment, just long enough to rub most of the lotion into the Fury's skin and whipe the rest on her leg.
"It is still there..." Sven protested, but the girl was already standing, hand covering her eyes as she stared out. The boy grumbled, trying, and mostly in vain, to reach around and smooth out the rest of the lotion. It was beginning to make him shiver.
"Oooh! I think it really is a person!" The standing girl shouted, hopping a bit. One would have a little trouble telling just who was older out of the two occupying the white and black towel. "Look, Sven, look!"
Sighing again, a habit he found most active in his caretaker's presence, Sven finally looked around. Teal orbs found the what the other had been pointing out rather quickly.
"It is coming here."
"Yes, yes!" Sae looked rather excited and even more so now that her companion seemed to agree with her. "Hello!" The girl called out, waving her hand in the air.

Danica continued on down the beach, her bare feet protesting the hot sand with each step, but she was determined to get to whoever it was she saw from the deck. Not like there was really anything else to do anyhow, and she liked meeting new people. She just hoped they were friendly.
The Fury slowed a moment, not knowing whether the one standing was excited or angry from this distance, but she could tell that the one still sitting had little interest in her advance. Approaching a bit more slowly, she smiled, white teeth flashing in her dark face, as the girl called a hello to her.
"Hi!" Danica called back, tempted to wave but deciding against it. She still held the jar within her hands, and she had trouble releasing it, even if for a moment.
Coming to a stop a few feet from the duo on the beach towel, she wormed her feet into the sand, getting them off the hotter, top layer, and smiled again. "I saw you out here from our deck, thought I'd come say hello."

"Well, I'm glad you decided to," Sae offered in answer, a smile plastered on her face. "With no one to talk to but Sven, I was wondering just how much fun I would have." To go along with her beliefs, she refrained from laughing at her own joke. Such a situations just tended to backfire.
After mentioning her Fury companion, she glanced down to him. It was then she finally noticed his continuing struggle with the sunscreen. A small giggle formed in her throat.
"You should've spoken up earlier." Bending to his level, she took care of the little problem with ease. Sven's placid mask slipped slightly again, as if had before, allowing his annoyance to show through.
"I did," he protested.
"Well, speak up louder, next time." Definitely not one to allow her mood to be affected by such a small interlude, she rose to her full height again, returning all attention to their visitor. "I'm Sae. And this is Sven, by the way. If you hadn't figured it out."
When the redhead's eyes shied to the silver Fury, as if expecting him to offer a greeting, he merely stared at the new femme.
"Staring is rude..." Sae drawled, though her voice held an obvious air of humor. She realized easily that Sven was staring out of curiousity, though the young male would never admit it.
As if shaken from his ponderings, he directed his gaze to the sand, then to Danica's legs as they seemed to be spawned from the white grains. A grey brow shot up. Where were her feet? he wondered. He hadn't seen her dig them into the sand.
Gaze still directed at the place the other Fury's legs and the sand met, he finally spoke. "Hello," he said, voice very low. His caretaker's annoying glances while waiting for him to speak seemed to have finally gotten to him.

Danica's eyes flickered to the other Fury for a moment at woman's first comment, curious as to what sort of relationship the two had. It sounded like she didn't think he was much fun, but then, she could have just been teasing him.
She grinned as the woman helped him with his sunscreen, and couldn't help the small fidgeting her fingers did when the boy stared at her. Gently running a palm over the smooth glass of the jar she held, she gave him an uneasy smile; following his gaze down to her ankles, her feet disappearing beneath the sand. She picked up one bare foot, shaking off the sand that clung to it as best she could, then picked up the other foot and did the same. Turning her icy gaze back up to Sven, she smiled, "Hi, I'm Danica. It's nice to meet you both."
She half-turned back the way she had come and shifted the jar so it was in one dark hand, pointing to the off-white house that was barely visible over the harsh sunlight and the dunes. Turning back to the duo, she lightly toyed with the bright green gem on her forehead before putting her hand back against the jar. "I live right there, with my guardian, Rhia... and a whole bunch of other people. We don't get many visitors, but it's nice when we do."

Sae smiled and nodded, gaze capturing the view of the home for a moment before returning to the other femme. "Yeah, I don't come here often. This is Sven's first time. I just wanted to get him out of the house." Said Fury's eyes were locked on the now visible feet.
"How?" he questioned, though there was no real description to place his question. Even at his age, he was rather naïve.
"How what?" The redhead turned her attention to her little charge. "Hm?" Bending to his level once more, she turned her head to see what he saw. "How does Danica have feet?" Sae hadn't noticed her feet in the sand originally. Shaking her head with a tiny chuckle, she glanced up to the Fury with the vial. "Do you know what he's talking about?"
For some reason, Sven seemed to take his caretaker's joking tone as an insult. He scowled.

"Well, this is a really nice place to come. Most of it is private property," Danica smiled to Sae, fingers sliding over the smooth surface of the round vial she cradled. "It's owned by my... guardian, I guess you're call her. If you ever want to have some time to yourself, this is the place to come."
The Fury's dark brows knitted together slightly at Sven's inquiry, not really comprehending what he was talking about. She followed his gaze down to where her ebony feet rested upon the much lighter colored sand, and her toes wriggling, blue-green wings fluttering a bit anxiously.
"Maybe you'd like to come over sometime?" She asked, trying to avert the boy's attention from whatever it was he was trying to figure out. She hadn't consciously realized that she had buried her feet in the sand, and so she didn't put the two together. She pressed the pads of her fingers against the glass of the vial, finding comfort in its familiarity. "Rhia has a really big family - extended family, I guess - but I'm sure she wouldn't mind some company. It's been easier on everyone since she bought this place and had the beach house built."
