Thumbs was a loner by choice, though given his name, he hadn't always been that way. Once a kittypet, Thumbs had began to leave his house folk behind in search of extra meals. He would always go home at the end of the day, but after a few moons of doing so.. he stopped altogether. He would find his own food, whether he begged it off of other house folk, or hunted it for himself.
Such was the case now. Thumbs was just swiping his tongue over his teeth and he purred in contentment, walking over fences and glancing at his surroundings. Maybe he would see a familiar face. Or maybe, he thought with a smile, he would meet someone new.

The young she cat was laying out basking in the sun, the small tree on her collar jingling as she moved her head. She had a well groomed pelt.. and then her paws contrasted it, being covered in much and dirt from the yard which was wet due to the numerous children running about and playing with the hose. Fudge didn't seem to mind, though, if anything she just looked bored. She stared longingly over the fence, she wanted to find more than this, though her owners had learned quick of her desperation to leave and given her this strange collar that would make her a loud beep when she tried to go. She hated it, so she stayed in the area to avoid the noise.
Her ears perked as she swore she could hear paw steps near by. She looked up and on a fence not to far along she saw a fleck of brown fur before it disappeared as the cat walked. A loud purr escaped her. A new cat to talk with! Oh, she hoped they came over to her, how fun it would be to talk to someone about the world outside this fence! For she'd rarely been, except when she was a kitten, though she could hardly remember those times. She approached the fence, meowing louder. "Hello? Is anyone out there?" Her voice flowed like silk, pristine and fancy-ish, though a strange desperation enveloped the tone.

Thumbs was passing by many yards, occasionally pausing to stop and look down in one or two. While he knew that Lin's yard wasn't on this edge of the Twolegplace, the tomcat had been getting more adventurous of late, so perhaps he might see him near. Alas, he did not see the seal pointed tomcat, but he did hear the call of a she-cat not too far off. Turning his head to gaze in its direction, he noted the taller fence and leaped up to grapple with the slick posts. It seemed to be trying to dissuade any visitors. Thumbs usually avoided fences and houses like these, but for a she-cat, his interests had gone up.
Peering down into the yard with glimmering green eyes, Thumbs spotted the brown she-cat. Her mottled pelt seemed to swirl and he found himself rather intrigued. "Did I hear you calling me, lovely lady?" He asked the she-cat, strutting across her fence and glancing around for an easy vantage point into her yard. "Might I provide you with an assistance of some sort?"

Fudge's gaze widened as they landed on the tom that scrambled up to her fence. She instantly raced towards the bottom of the posts, staring up at him. "Hello!" She greeted quickly. By the look of her, she seemed to be very well kept, one might assume she was spoiled or sassy, but the look in her eyes revealed unmatched joy and desperation.
"Oh, yes! Yes, you can. It's been so unbearably lonely fenced in like this." Fudge told him. "I would die for some company. What's your name? Mine is Fudge." She told him. All the while her excitement never wavered, a kit like enthusiasm clouding her deep green gaze.

Thumbs was pleased by the she-cat's enthusiasm and he evaluated the way into the yard. When he found on, he leaped onto one ledge to the other, before he found himself a foot away from her. "Well, I'm more than happy to provide my company." He informed her with a sly grin. "Though I dare say there are plenty more fun things you can do in exchange for me, than throw away your own life." He shook his head. "What a thought. You mustn't say such things, pretty minx." He purred.
"My name is Thumbs." He said with a dip of his head, before he moved forward. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Now, what sort of company may I offer you?"

Fudge watched him as he leapt towards the ground, the moment he landed near her she turned to face him fully, taking a few paw steps towards him. She wanted to learn more about this intriguing cat, then again, she wanted to learn more about everyone. She wanted to learn more about the outside, about everything. She let out an amused purr, her tail swaying gently behind her. "Well, if you say so, then I suppose I won't be needing to throw away my life for some company and companionship." She told him with a smile, seeming to become a tad nervous as he referred to her as pretty. "It's great to meet you, it's been far too long since I've seen another cat! Much less a kind tom." She told him. "Any company will do, I'm not picky! Though, I do have one request, would you please tell me whats out there?" She nodded her head over the white fence. "Oh, how I wish I could go and see for myself."

This she-cat would be moss in his paws, Thumbs could see it now. She was so desperate for knowledge, surely she would crave more once he gave her a taste of it? He smiled at her indulgently.
"What's out there?" He echoed and followed her gaze. "Ah, what's beyond your fence, I take it. Well, depending on how far you travel, there are a number of things. Your den borders three more dens like it, from every side, except the front, perhaps which faces the Thunderpath." He explained. "There aren't any cats living in the other houses, lest you may have experienced more feline company than solely myself. There is one brightly colored bird in one, however, but it's safely behind closed doors, so you can only tease it through the window." He shook his head. "Such a shame, really. Even if it looks like it would be more feather and beak than flesh." He went on.
"If you go beyond the Twolegplace, much further away from your den and throw caution to the wind, then you'll eventually come to the woods. Trees aplenty there and loners, too. Not entirely friendly ones, mind you, especially not to kittypets like you. I think it's because they're jealous of how shiny and plump you lot are, since they have to fend for themselves. Creatures to be avoided, if you ever make it out that way. The trees are pleasant though and so is feeling leaves crackling under your paw. It's really quite delightful." He turned his head to give her a sidelong gaze. "I could take you there now, if you'd like. I could protect you from any rogues or loners, too. They know better than to cause a conflict with me." Purred the thick set tomcat.

Her eyes were wide with wonder as she listened. As he started talking she sat down to relax as she listened, it was much like telling a kit a story about some great adventure, though, this was a she-cat listening about the simple idea of there being things beyond what she had seen. The idea that maybe, just maybe, she might be able to get a glimpse of this other world sent a spark of joy through her heart. She would venture out there! She had to! Fudge couldn't live another day trapped behind this horrid fence.
She let out an amused purr at the statement of the bird. "I've seen some birds fly overhead." She informed the tome casually. "Though none very colorful, mostly brown." Fudge then paused. "Oh, but once there was this really small bird! He was so unbelievably beautiful, with blue and purple colors!" She exclaimed happily. This was obviously making the young she-cats day.
"A.. forest..?" She asked him, her gaze going from excited to a mixture of fearful and wonder-filled. She drifted off into thought as he finished, thinking to herself about the beautiful, vibrant green colors of the forest. Oh, and all the cats she could meet! Some of those loners must be kind, right? As he finished his sentence she looked to him sadly, shaking her head."Oh, I wish I could, I've tried before, but my collar hurts my ears when I go past the fence.." She mewed, a sound of longing and sadness lacing her tone. "Do you think you could maybe help me?" She stared at him hopefully, maybe this kind tom could fix her problem and she could run off with him to the forest!

Thumbs listened to her with a politely amused look on his face. This she-cat was so new to everything around her. So new and so perfectly gullible. Bending is head to see the collar, he noticed that it was made of a sturdier stuff than had most collars. Yet, he had bested collars before and he would best this one too.
"Of course I will help you, gentle she-cat. If you will do me the honor of continuing in your company, than I shall assist you in however I can." He assured her, before continuing on, examining the collar closely.
"How does it hurt your ears?" He asked, unsheathing his claws as he moved them gently under her collar and against her neck, testing them against the material. "Is it connected to your ears?" Then pulling on it would be dangerous, he didn't wish to hurt her.

The she-cat let out a purr as the tom said he was willing to help, a look of joy and excitement once more lighting up her face. Was this the day the outside world became less a mystery and more accurately her home? Her tail swished happily behind her as she waited patiently.
"Oh, of course. But the honors all mine, really. How wonderful, the fact I met you, it must be fate!" She mrrowed quietly. "I can't wait to see what's out there and explore... It's far too cramped here." She added to herself.
She then cringed mentally at the idea of the thing being connected to her ears. That was a.. nasty idea. "No no! Not at all, it just makes a very, very loud beeping noise near them. The further I go the louder it gets..." She told him with a sigh. "I've never gone farther than the next house over, it's far too loud."
