"Stage 2 is for those who are not as confident with their abilities and choose to do one-on-one battles out of sight. This stage will be supervised by myself, sending those students into pocket dimensions and facing off against astral opponents. "
This area of the Arena is a pocket dimension, solo fighting, where students face off against an Astral Opponent. This allows students with less confidence in their skills to build up their powers and emotions to be able to move on to Stage 1 (if they possess combative abilities) or Stage 3 (where they would mentor others). This area is also versatile for students unable to speak English, as the pocket dimension alters to suit the person entering it.
This stage is overseen by Miranda Kier, a powerful sorceress and the Director of Magical Studies.
The percentages are likely wrong, but I'm winging it with an estimate of 12,000 students and 8,000 staff members. The Arena itself can hold 20,000 so yeah.
Miranda waited for students to line up at her stage, giving them a few minutes to decide on which Stage they were most comfortable in. There was maybe 150 students over all, with the most students in Stage 1 and the rest in Stage 3. Once everyone was moved up to Stage 1 level, there would be multiple courts where fights could take place simultaneously. This would allow more students to fight at the same time. Those students in Stage 1 who wouldn't be fighting, would be in the stands doing written homework for this class.
Kolya walked to Stage 2 alongside Jace, unsure of how his own portal would go. Would he face shadows, some kind of demonic being, or what strange unknown awaited him. "Let's hope for the best, I guess," he said through clenched teeth. Kolya looked around and didn't see as many people in Stage 2, so he got the idea that it was more of a filler class before everyone would eventually end up at Stage 1, either as student or coach. He didn't want people seeing him use his powers, as many were frightened, but it was the same for Jace.

Cherry was waiting in the Stage 2 area, looking at the other students. She was surprised to see Jace there, but this was because she didn't know of his powers and how they affected others. She wondered how long she would be able to avoid fighting, but she hoped she would be able to move to Mentoring (Stage 3) after she felt confident. She had a gut feeling that Kolya and Jace might take to Mentoring as well over fighting, but she could be proven wrong. She wanted to help people, and while she could read minds, she couldn't tell what their plans over all were.
Iseul was standing on the sidelines, a tablet in her hands ready to try and record what was being said to translate it into Korean. She was till only able to teach the basics of English, the usual "how are you?" and "where is the train station?". She was in no way ready to take on being told what to do. She was only slightly relieved when another student who was Korean, or at least spoke it fluently, told her that the portal would be suited for her specifically. As in it would speak Korean at her. She let out a sigh of relief and put her tablet in her bag. She was still nervous, as her powers were in no way meant to harm but to enhance and bring beauty.

#9D6B84 // #9F00FF "" Nora, arms tucked in to her large hoodie pocket at the front of her, stood slouched in the line waiting for the portals to be opened and begin. She wanted to be alone, not seen, so she could master her ability. Even though she had determination, she had overwhelming fear...she'd nearly killed someone with her power and it ate at her consciousness. If she didn't overcome that, she would never be able to help others. Her dream of being a Social Worker and helping children like her across the globe would go down in flames. It wasn't something she'd let happen without a drawn-out fight. This was step one, and she hoped one day to make it to Stage 1 with confidence.
Jace wasn't sure what to expect. He didnt know how they planned on helping them control their abilities or if he and Kolya would even be together in this class. He looked to Kolya hearing what he muttered and put a hand on his shoulder. "We can only get better" he told him trying to be assuring.
Kolya swallowed his nervousness down and nodded briefly. "Well, at least we won't hurt anyone in this kind of setting," he said. He walked forward and saw Mrs Kier bring up individual portals for each student. It was now or never and Kolya knew that he would never embrace his powers if he didn't try. Eventually, he hoped he'd be able to fight alongside someone like Jace, but he wasn't ready yet. He took a breath and stepped through the portal to his own fighting arena.
it was a cave, illuminated only by the glowing red crystals along the floor and walls. Their light pulsed like a heartbeat. Kolya readied himself, willing to use his blood manipulation if he needed to. His pain manipulation was really useless here, as he felt his enemy would be himself and thus unable to be defeated using pain. He'd have to get creative. He saw his own shadow materialize in the dim light and knew his battle was about to begin.
Miranda saw all her students were ready to go, so while the other arenas would be getting underway with talks and basic information, she wanted to get started. The students wouldn't have long and she wanted to get them started on their own battles. She brought up a portal for each student, 150 portals each tailored to the individual student, and knew she wouldn't be able to hold it for long. She would only be able to hold the portals for half an hour, because any longer than that and her magic would be at risk if depletion. Any students stuck in portals would cease to exist. She didn't want to risk that, so she would only ever use half of her magical strength at a time.

#9D6B84 // #9F00FF "" Nora wasn't sure if she was ready, but it didn't seem like she had a choice. The portals were brought up and she walked through.
She was standing on a beach, waves crashing nearby, the sunrise not quite over the horizon, the sky only becoming paler as time went on. She gulped hard, trying to suppress any nerves coming to the surface, knowing she would need to think carefully. Although her opponent was a shadow version of herself, she was still scared she would hurt it. Hurt someone. Hurt herself. She knew she'd have to embrace her powers if she wanted to control them. If she had to disintegrate the whole beach to gain control, she would. At least in this portal, nothing she did was permanent.
