MAIDEN INFORMATION
ṆÅ℟xṞṔ
Now, you may be asking what is a Maiden exactly? In the RWBY series the four Maidens are hosts of a vast natural power that has existed in Remnant for thousands of years. They are said to be the physical embodiment of the four seasons. There are four Maidens in existence at any time, each one corresponding to the four seasons - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Maidens have advanced elemental powers that are distinct from their semblances. I will go into more detail after we discuss how the first maiden will be selected!
Nomination Requirements:
-Must have at least 10 posts in the guild.
-Must be in good standing (less than 2 strikes).
-The character nominated must be considered active (usually 1 post per week for the past month; we will be lenient on this one though especially due to the holidays only recently being over).
Maiden Powers & Scaling:
This is perhaps the most anticipated part of this whole article. What can a Maiden actually do? Well, below we will thoroughly discuss the bonuses a Maiden gets!
Powers -- Maidens, of all seasons, possess basic elemental manipulation for all elemental types. They can summon large fireballs, lighting strikes, windstorms, ice/water, and telekinetically move all elements. These abilities are mainly strong because they grant extreme versatility. The fireball or lightning strikes aren't one-hit kill moves, although they certainly pack a punch. Maidens can throw multiple different kinds of elemental attacks at you at one time making defense against their onslaught near impossible at times. You can use your maiden powers at the same time as your semblance, but these powers are distinct and separate.
Summary:
1. Maidens have basic elemental manipulation of all elements.
2. Maiden's have a max level of 11 (1,100 posts).
3. Maiden's have scaling powers that will be outlined below.
Succession
The powers of the Maidens pass from host to host upon the death of the current holder in a process that has been continuing for thousands of years. The exact method through which the power chooses its next host is not fully understood. Under normal circumstances, the next Maiden, who is always a young woman, is the last person that the previous Maiden holds in her thoughts before she passes away. However, if the person in the dying Maiden's thoughts is male, too old, or not eligible to receive the power, the next host is chosen seemingly at random. This system apparently ensures that no one person can hold the power forever. When one of our maiden's is killed off the crew will decide who the powers go to. We will make sure it logically works the way the show designed it to be. We will allow all members to make their own arguments as to where they think the powers should go, but the crew will vote to decide ultimately.
MAIDEN TIER SYSTEM M.1
Maiden Powers: The below abilities and their associated limits are more of a guideline for you to follow. You can combine elements and do many other cool abilities that we simply do not have time to list here. Try to keep within the specified limits as best you can. We'll be loose on some of them such as the complexity of manipulations. Just don't push the limits by too much.
Maiden Tier Progression: There is no fixed method on progressing through these tiers. You must complete a notable feat(s) and have character and story development happen in order for you to progress to the next tier. Each tier will come with expanded abilities and a post boost. When you feel you have had the necessary development to progress all you have to do it message a crew member and ask that the crew votes on your tier progression. We won't give these upper tiers to you easily so expect to do a lot of work to get them.
Max Maiden Level: Maidens have an increased level cap at level 11. The total post count, including boosts, will need to be at 1,100 in order to achieve this level. They are capped there to allow them to barely lose versus a full team of 4 that is fully leveled. A fully leveled team of 4 would have a total level of 12. Just barely above a full leveled maiden.
Cooldowns: For every elemental ability or power you use within a single post you must wait 1 post before you can activate your maiden powers again. This means if in a single post you use 3 elemental abilities all at once then you must have 3 posts without any maiden powers before you do your next ability.
Elemental Manipulation Rules:
► Maidens manipulation powers do not overpower other character's elemental manipulation. If a maiden, or another character is actively focused or manipulating something then it cannot be taken over for manipulation by anyone else until they have either lost focus, or stopped manipulating said element. When someone manipulates an element their aura has domain and yours cannot take control until they have moved on. If someone creates an ice staircase just to scale a cliff then after it has been used you may manipulate the ice, but if they create an ice shield then they will be focused on it until they leave the position usually and so you will not be able to manipulate said ice shield. Ask a mod if you are unsure of whether or not you can manipulate something and we'll let you know, but this should be pretty intuitive.
► If someone summons a snowstorm they and they alone can control the snow that is produced. If it is a natural snowstorm then either can take control.
► If someone summons a storm, someone else can also summon their own storm which will coexist with the current storm. This will be treated as a neutral storm if this happens.
▨ Tier 0 -- Initiate Maiden
These abilities are examples of things you can do and by no means the complete list of powers at your disposal. Use them as guidelines to what you can and cannot do. You may combine these abilities to create an array of different effects. Basic elemental manipulation abilities would include:
Water » Large waves (10 ft high)
Ice » The ability to summon snowfall, and freeze water within 10 feet.
Wind » Powerful gusts of wind (40mph),
Fire » Large fireballs (up to 3 feet in diameter),
Earth » Small earthquakes (5 Richter; just strong enough to weaken buildings slightly, and throw your earthbound opponents off their balance), etc.
Complexity » You are limited to a single basic shape per post when manipulating elements (e.g., spherical, rectangular, etc).
Area of Effect Radius: 5 meters unless specified otherwise.
Ultimate Ability: None
Post Boost Total: +100
Tier Requirements: None.
