Raleka reorganized the succulents section for the third time that morning. She shouldn't have been so nervous - after all, it was just an intern. Just a kid, about the same age as Annie. And he was a dryad hybrid - he was going to be here to study plants the same way she had. She was providing an opportunity, and he would probably be just as excited - and nervous.
On his internship form, she'd noted that he had said he was a dryad hybrid, which was why the passion for plants. Raleka, as she watered the snaking vines of a kafnettle, wondered if he had grown up in dryad society like herself. If given the opportunity, perhaps Raleka would be a good mentor, even mother figure for this young aspiring botanist. The thought made her smile - until she realized that the vines of the kafnettle had tightly wound around her left arm.
The bell on the shop door dinged. "You must be Alfred!" Raleka called. "Do you think you could come back here and help me out? I seem to be a bit... tangled."

Alfred was currently perhaps the most nervous person in Below, this was his first day on the job/internship! He was aware that Raleka was a dryad hybrid, too, but he was unsure of which type. Just the though of meeting another succulent dryad excited him. He hoped that through this internship, he would have a better understanding of plant life and how to be a better botanist. He's always been captivated by the miracle of life, and has had a love of all plants because of being a dryad, and being so closely associated with them. Alfred entered the shop, hearing a slight commotion: Quote: "You must be Alfred!" Raleka called. "Do you think you could come back here and help me out? I seem to be a bit... tangled." Alfred cautiously crept into the back, sheeing the mess that Raleka was in. "Uhh... Hi... I'm Alfred... You seem to be in a situation."

Raleka laughed weakly. "A situation... yeah, you could say that," she said, pulling her arm gently, trying to get the kafnettle vines to unravel on their own, to no avail. Holding the watering can in her other hand, with nowhere to put it down, she was currently indisposed. "I know it sounds kind of silly, but do you think you could come over here and tickle the leaves of this kafnettle? Consider it your first assignment as my intern," she added, chuckling. The kafnettle wasn't dangerous - she just didn't like to hurt a plant if it wasn't necessary.
"It's nice to meet you, by the way," she said as the hybrid entered the back of the flower shop. She was suddenly a bit self-conscious about the somewhat messy setup. All of the flower arrangements were done back here, so there was a table in the center of the room with a few compartments on the sides holding cutting shears, twine, and wrapping paper. Although there was a large window to let in the light from the storefront, the back was shadowy with all of the plants growing in seemingly every nook and cranny. Flowers and vines of all colors burst and sprawled from their pots - a few carnivorous plants let their mouths hang lazily open. A nursery of bulbs was on a shelf underneath some bright lights. The air was heavy with a loamy, green scent, and it was slightly humid. She grinned, trying to seem unintimidating, as Alfred came closer.

Alfred was still trying to wrap his head around the kafnettle situation, so absorbed that when Raleka spoke, he gave a small jump. "Oh! Uhh.... Sure!" He responded, awkwardly walking to the kafnettle and getting close enough to gently prod it enough to cause the vines to unravel. "It's nice to meet you too!" Alfred said, "Do you... usually get stuck in situations like this?"

"Thank you." Raleka gently shook her arm free of the clinging vine, then proceeded to finish watering the shelf of plants she was attending. Many a magical leaf curled happily in response. As she worked, she said, "Of course I do! You know, most of the plants have minds of their own." She flashed a smile down at the young dryad hybrid. "But I don't usually have such an agile assistant to get me out of those situations. I'd probably have tried to tickle the leaves with my... ear or something, I don't know."
She clambered down the ladder, finally setting down her watering can and offering a handshake to Alfred. "So, what makes you want to join me here in the flower shop?"
