In the deep recesses of Llanarthen Castle lies the basement; a drab and dreary place that leads to the catacombs and the dungeon. It is wide and spacious, expanding beneath the entirety of the castle. There is a new entrance that was added that leads to the nearby forest.

✶ She hated this place, even when she was a child. There was nothing likable about the basement. Never mind the grime that hid in every corner and crevice of brick that comprised this place. There was also the dark corridors and nooks that not even the torchlight could expose what hid in the shadows. Ironic in that the shadows were second nature to her. The basement was the only means to reach the catacombs, the final resting place of those of the Dharke lineage. Evelyn was not a fan of the place full of corpses and dust of unknown and known nature. Lastly was the dungeon, the final resting place of prisoners who were detained by her father and his father before him. When she was but a girl, she could not descend the wretched steps of the basement without hearing the howls of captives. Pleas for mercy and the wailing of the condemned. The girl only came down here in search of her father who made a den of sorts here. And after all these years of neglect, the basement having been long abandoned prior to her moving the castle in its entirety, it had not changed one iota. It was still just as haunting and just as detestable, even without the cries of the helpless prisoners. Had she any care for this place, she would have had it refurbished along with the rest of the castle.
So what had brought her to the this place now? As it happened to be, this was where Sir Victor had made his place of living. She wondered what compelled him to choose such a place as this at first. In addition to not being bothered by the atmosphere, she learned it was the perfect place for him to work on his creations. Victor was an inventor, building a great deal of contraptions to make life easier in the castle. But he wasn't just an inventor, but a scientist of sorts. When she seen him create a functioning arm out of metal for a fellow guild member, she was curious as to what else he could do. And so, the man had been hard at work for the past couple months on a potential aid for upcoming battles. She hoped for good news as they were quickly running out of time. Evelyn descended the steps, keeping her eyes out for any critters that might be crawling around. At the bottom, she would come to a split in the path and a large metal door ahead. To the left was the catacombs and to the right was the dungeon. The door led to a former storage area and where Victor had claimed his domain. Knocking on the door (with a shadow crafted hand of course), she awaited the response of her Knight which came swifter than expected.
The door only opened partially, where you could just make out the man's figure. She looked up at the much taller male who looked back at her, adjusting his glasses and then bowing to her. "Your Majesty. I wasn't expecting you so soon. I...assume you want to see it? Please, come in" he opened the door wide, holding it open for her. "Hmm? Then who were you expecting?" she asked, entering the chamber that was shut behind her. Victor cleared his throat, following behind his Empress who walked further in until she found a dimly lit area. Cables covered the floor and stretched across the walls, jumping from equipment to equipment that Evelyn couldn't make heads or tails of. "I was expecting a delivery. Some parts I asked for since this morning. Ah, but I didn't think you'd be coming so soon today" he explained. Evelyn nodded, walking over to table decorated with several tools of various sizes. She could not name any of them aside from the obvious hammer and screwdriver. "Sir Victor, I was last here a month ago. I was hoping you'd have good news for me?" Victor paused, stroking his chin in thought. "...A month already, huh? Well...I can't say it's finished, but... Ah, I won't waste your time. Allow me to show you" he'd say, offering to lead the way. Beyond this room was another corridor that the inventor created himself. It was also where he built his own makeshift elevator that led to another larger chamber underground. It was here that he was keeping..."it".
The blonde stood in the elevator as it descended, looking ahead and feeling a bit anxious. They descended for what felt like minutes before it stopped with a loud CLUNK! Evelyn hastily stepped off, Victor smirking to himself at the queen's behavior. She wasn't a fan of confined places and certainly not one that moved in that manner. But now that they were down here, she could vaguely see anything of interest. They walked out onto a platform of sorts, her heels clanking on the cold steel before she stood before a railing. Victor would hit the lights, revealing the giant creation below. Evelyn was at a loss for words; it was impressive, but how did it work? Did it work? "...Well. I finished as much as I could. I have to keep it sedated just to operate on it and sedation only works sometimes. There's just a problem with keeping it energized. Without power, it won't stay active for long" he explained. The woman hummed, taking the bad news in consideration, but alas, she still had to admit it was a job well done. "...Excellent work, Sir Victor. I want it ready to be mobilized no later than tomorrow" she requested, turning her back to leave. "T-Tomorrow, Your Majesty?! Why so soon? And, not to question your abilities, but how do you intend on controlling this thing? It's not exactly...something you can negotiate with." Having nearly been killed by the thing a couple times, he was unsure how anyone could tame it. Evelyn told him prior to starting the project that she would handle it when the time came. So the man was curious...just what had she planned to do? The Empress stopped, tapping a finger on her chin before turning back around. "Ah, I forget. You tend not to see or hear much beyond your domain. A war in upon us...and I want our new member here to help defend our home as intended. I'm not sure when, but it's imperative that this is ready. This...is our last line of defense. It's cooperation..." she smirked, holding up her hand. From her gloves, specks of blood would seep through until she created a large ball. Then, the Empress would lob it at the creature below as hard as she could. The clump of blood hit it and then slowly sunk into its body. All the while, it remained fast asleep, none the wiser. "...It's guaranteed. By the morning, it should be much easier to deal with. Until then, I entrust you to make it fit for battle." On that note, Evelyn would step into the shadows, retreating to who knew where. Victor watched her leave and then looked back down at the creature. It was now starting to stir, letting out a low agitated grumble. "...Right. Guess I have a long night ahead of me..." he sighed, pushing up on his glasses.
