Notes for playing Primary Motivation:Creation and Action. Aidene enjoys her dolls and creating cute things: food, clothes, useful but also aesthetically nice. Driven by resentment and anger-- She usually has a short temper--. All the little things ("this person pushed me in line and now I'm going to curse his entire family for 9 generations") get channeled into martial arts/ fighting/ some other training or into some scene with her dolls. But also by praise-- She enjoys praise, which she sees as an indication that people want/ have use for that service or product
Character development is really up in the air. Still up for grabs would be how much she trusts people, and a motivation that’s not shallow or murderous. Broken when successful and no longer has a purpose. That is, once she decides to either kill or forgive Celestina.
~Soft and fierce--Aidene needs to be shamelessly fierce sometimes. She's a homebody and loves her arts and crafts and the gentleness of friends and family, but her confidence should be her defining trait-- a willingness to strike forward, even if it's just being snippy at someone. ~Goal-oriented-- Closer to August than Sona, Aidene needs a clear goal to work towards. She has to "know the point" and endgoal. Her life is broken into projects and encounters. ~Quick-- Aidene doesn't have Sona's reservations. Aidene isn't afraid, but more than that she doesn't think things through the way Sona does. ~Channel Mal. Reference Firefly.

Based on aura reading abilities, this gives Aidene a sense of an object's general durability or properties, or a person's stamina/ health and general mood/ mental status/ comfort level/ something vague there. Readings are more effective when the target is something or someone Aidene is familiar with. She can also apply this to herself to get a more precise sense of what she is capable of handling in the moment/ where her own energy is at.
As she uses and develops it, she'll be able to target/ read more than one person at once (and sense relationships between people) and further away. At start, I'm thinking they have to be around 3-5 feet from her. In order to read them, a possible line between them and her is needed, even if she cannot actually see them. (Thus cannot be through walls, but can be around corners)
She'll describe it all in gamer terms of course XD

xxx✄PERSONALITY🥢xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CONFIDENT Aidene has never questioned her ability, and believes her martial arts and magic makes her dangerous. While she's afraid of hurting her friends as a vampire, she also sees it as another advantage to wield. After all, she's already dead. What can people do now? She can be snippy or blunt, but doesn't try to be rude.
IMAGINATIVEAidene passes the time primarily by creative design: embroidery; designing and making clothes for cloth dolls, then playing scenes out with these dolls; designing and baking, cooking and creating recipes; playing and writing Dungeons and Dragons campaigns; and training and blending her martial arts, fencing, and dueling skills. She's sometimes more rooted in a fantasy world than the real world, and her personality is usually 50% whatever her current project of obsession is.
DISCIPLINED Party due to early cases of early uncontrolled magic, partly because her wand demands strength of mind, and party out of determination not to let her vampiric instincts run wild, Aidene continues to cultivate self-control and discipline. She keeps up with her "combat main" training as much as possible, and keeps very careful record of who and when she has fed off to make sure never to take too much. With so many creative and training projects or ideas going on at a time, she has to exercise quite a lot of self-management to get anything done at all.
FUN LOVINGWith athletes of all kinds of games in her family, Aidene has a great appreciation for fun, games and sports of all sorts. She talks about life in video game terms-- “EXP”, “levels”, “stats”-- and prefers to treat life as a complicated game she's strategizing for and playing.
AMBITIOUSAidene tries to be an honor-worthy and friendly player in the game of life, if mostly for childish reasons: she enjoys being praised for being honorable or “a good sport”. While interested in a whole host of things, she sets high expectations for herself. Having a new, potentially immortal lease on life has destroyed some aspirations but also caused her to focus on and raise others.
✄HOBBIES ■ Fights (dueling and martial arts) ■ Designing (and sewing) dresses. ■ Cooking, baking, foodstuffs-- as much as she can do it as a vampire.
✄LIKES ■ Video games and DnD ■ Martial arts ■ Kirby ■ Making doll outfits ■ Cemeteries-- they’re peaceful.
🥢DISLIKES ■ Short summer nights ■ Figuring out where here blood source is coming from every night. ■ Bikini fashion ■ Mayonnaise. Is disgusting. ■ Being alone
✄STRENGTHS ■ Resilient-- “If it doesn’t kill you, it gives you EXP” is a constant phrase in her household. ■ Physically fit— she’s in remarkably good shape and very flexible. Also now bolstered by vampiric strength and speed.
🥢WEAKNESSES ■ Messy— she’ll make cute things, but it seems someone else will always clean up for her. ■ Reckless-- mostly she'll plan, but she also charges into situations without thinking it completely through.
✄DREAMS ■ Maxing her combat skills ■ Getting revenge on Celestina.
🥢FEARS ■ Bugs, insects, creepy crawlies ■ Hurting her friends and family due to her vampirism.
xxx✄BACKSTORY🥢xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
✄🥢EARLY CHILDHOOD Aidene was raised by her father, Martin. Her mother, Celestina, left to skate professionally in Russia when Aidene was three months old and communicated infrequently. Martin got help from Celestina’s stepfather and his sister raising Aidene, and Grandpa Aspen’s home in Scarborough became theirs for a while. There, she felt most comfortable at the art museum, making cute crafts with Grandpa Aspen or running around with Mr. Sawan, her dad’s friend.
Aidene was five before she actually met her mother: Celestina seemed interested that she showed some trace of magic: things flew around when she got excited or electronics heated up faster when she was frustrated or upset. Then one time she burnt a paper she'd folded into an airplane. Maybe that paper was important--Celestina was mad at her for a few days, then vanished again. From then on the only contact was an occasional request for money. Aspen put Aidene in martial arts when she was 7 to help learn control and Aunt Elysia, now playing Quidditch in Ireland, would visit by broom or floo to teach Aidene about magic, which was much more to her liking and level than muggle education or her mother’s attempt at tutoring.
When Aidene was eight, she was invited to fly by plane with the rest of Martin’s team to a tournament in St. Petersburg. Things—drinks, papers, a phone — started flying around when she got too excited, but for once she was able to control her magic, and stop the flying. An adult excused it as “strange cabin pressure phenomena” and they all had a good laugh. The whole encounter boosted her confidence in her magic, and in her own ability to wield it.
After the tournament, the family was surprised to be invited to Celestina’s flat. The conversation seemed civil enough, but even Aidene could tell her mother’s grand notions didn’t match up with her dad’s divorce plans. The argument escalated into a duel between her aunt and mother that ended abruptly when Elysia grabbed them and apparated away. Elysia splinched herself in the process, but seemed okay. The divorce was finalized without word from Celestina, who seemed to vanish again. Aidene herself was a little rattled, but there were other things to look forward to, such as moving to Martin’s childhood home in Godric’s Hollow.
Initially unimpressed with Godric's Hollow, Aidene was very excited to befriend Brook Knapp and Rhea Lane, who lived down the street from her. They would play pretend, share food, and even had a sleepover! After the 2045 Magizoology Festival she also started taking baking lessons from Theo Ellis-Hall, which, aside from magic lessons with Aunt Elysia, were her favorite lessons ever. Under his tutelage, she has been eagerly practicing and less eagerly but very dutifully keeping an organized recipe book.
✄🥢SCHOOL YEARS
✄FIRST YEAR Aidene took to Hogwarts with an energy that surprised even herself: she spent the first two weeks joining as many clubs as she could make meetings for, and trying to make friends. She quickly established a "party" with her usual best friends, Rhea and Brook, and Emma, from her house. While she occasionally sought tutoring from Rhea's Month Boy or his friends Lizzie and Aldrick, most of Aidene's time was spent in the kitchens working on recipes or off doing non-academic projects. Her favorite professor was definitely the badass Professor Cohen, and for much of the year Aidene fangirled over Cohen and considered herself an aspiring initiate of whatever "faction" Cohen led.
🥢SECOND YEAR For the most part though, she spent most her second year engrossed in her extracurriculars, be that making dolls of her closest friends in art club, working on recipes, or, towards the end of the year, reading fiction. Amongst club folks and housemates, she enjoyed particularly spending time with Charlotte, a pretty upperclassman who did art by the lake and always had good conversation.
Over the summer, her mother reappeared suddenly. Her dad was very suspicious, but it seemed Celestina didn't have any ill intents. For the most part, Aidene tolerated her occasional presence as long as it didn't get in the way of their usual routine.
✄THIRD YEAR Third year added four awesome new classes, a starting role on the Quidditch team, and her very own martial arts club to Aidene's bustling schedule. She even made friends with Talbot over a few random encounters.
Just before Valentine's Day, Aidene finally worked up the courage to ask Charlotte out. She was turned down and devastated for days, moping and weeping. But, thanks to her friends' advice, she was finally able to talk to Charlotte again and just happy to still be friends. Over the rest of the year, their relationship settled back into comfortable friends and Aidene was able to set her romantic feelings aside and cherish their friendship. The entire experience did convince her that she needed more practice flirting though.
🥢FOURTH YEAR Fourth year was a continuation of coursework missions, with a healthy helping of club quests and relationship-building events. She baked a fruit pie for her friend Laurel and Professor Hill after an inspired Quidditch tryouts where she had somehow gotten herself knocked out. Aidene was very surprised Vespera Salazar asked her to the Valentine's Dance, but accepted, had a great time and happily continued a relationship with her. Her studying motivation improved drastically in the last few months thanks to Ves's own diligence, although her club participation and dedication to her hobbies still took precedence.
One Hogsmeade day, she caught Talbot thieving around and joined his party as Distraction. They were doing great until caught by Lore, an "old man who didn't want cake". Thankfully, Lore released the two back to Hogwarts, although they still got detention for being out late.
✄FIFTH YEAR Getting her homework done before Sundays so she could see Vespera, Rion, and Theo in Hogsmeade became a painful but much-needed lesson in diligence and procrastination. Otherwise, fifth year was a happy but busy blend of projects and training in clubs, studying and practicing in classes. It was shaken when Brook's brother was killed in a fire; Aidene did what she could to help Brook cope, whether it was distracting her with something or just being in the same room to be a comforting presence, but ultimately felt the strain the year had put on their relationship.
Aidene's Grandpa Aspen died while she was en route back for Winter Break. After his funeral, Aidene was attacked by and dueled who turned out to be Celestina, her birth-mother. Aidene lost the duel and Celestina drained her blood and left her for dead before Lore saved her. After a disorienting rest of the break, Aidene returned to Hogwarts for the second semester. She was devastated to give up her clubs and DADA class, but slowly adjusted to a nocturnal life.
🥢SIXTH YEAR After a very disappointing and sleepy summer, Aidene started sixth year more miserable than she wanted to let on. Rhea and Brook were both off, both in general and at each other, and Aidene didn't know what to about anything. She spiraled for a while, withdrawing from her usual social life.
But the longer winter nights meant more time to actually catch her old clubs: Tris convinced her not only to not give up on her Fairy Forest campaign, but even offered her the Adventurer's Guild club captainship, which Aidene finally agreed to. She also started to go flying around campus with Professor Whitethorne and met Lore's son, Professor Deadman.
Over Winter Break, Vespera and Aidene broke up amicably. Between Ves's work and Aidene's nocturnal life, they just hadn't found a way to make it work. They were both sad, but found a way to be friends and move on. Back at Hogwarts, she found her vampire secret was not quite as secret, but with each person that confronted her, Aidene felt relief and was glad to have another friend back.
At the end of summer, her dad finally married Della Chance, making Rhea, Jonah, Rion and Lizzie officially her siblings!
✄SEVENTH YEAR Aidene at least knew what she was getting into with summer dazes and long winter nights to look forward to. She went to clubs when she could, DMed her first campaign, and hung out with friends until curfew. From curfew to dawn, she spent her time dutifully studying, and particularly honing her spellcasting and combat skills. She flirted with Lavinia Gismondi, her roommate and good friend, but ultimately their relationship didn't quite kick off yet.
✄🥢POST GRADUATION Aidene spent the years directly after graduation in a kind of daze. She spent much of her time at Clifton Hall with Talbot and Lore, kept up with martial arts and dueling practice, or with Brook and Rhea. She found and joined a no-bars-held underground fight club/ pro dueling group in Northern Ireland, continuing to hone every combat advantage she could; a few years later she started training as a hit wizard.

Favorites Music Irish ballads, video game soundtracks. Food Pasta Carbonara with pine nuts, egg rolls, red velvet birthday cake Clothes Cute short dresses. Accessory Leather belts and boots Season: Autumn, because pumpkin spice and scarves // Dislikes summer because it's too hot and summer clothes are meh. Princess Anastasia, partially just because this was when Aidene didn't downright hate Celestina and all things Russia, but also because sassiness, that dress, and "I wanna learn to be anything in a song." Anya was probably her first crush. She was also born the same date as another Grand Duchess,Anatasia Mikhailnova, known for her fierce independence, lavish lifestyle, and kindness. Restaurant Wok and Roll, Shui's family's chinese restaurant in London.
Typicals Non-uniform outfit Cute short dresses and tall boots. Bonus points if she did something to it. (made part of it, attached a pocket, did some embroidery on it.) Wand hidden: With a skin-friendly ink pen, clipped to a belt loop-like on the back of her skirt. Hobbies: Clothes design, cooking, martial arts, watching people play video games. Handwriting Small caps, missing strokes sometimes. Quite messy. Smells like sewing machines or irons, like cooking or baking, tinged with a bit of sweat because she’s always running around.
AUs Pokemon Torchic/ Blaziken, Ponyta, Avatar: tlA firebender, obviously
Misc Wand Wand: Cherry (self control/ strength of mind) wood, dragon heartstring, 9 ¾ inches. Surprisingly swishy--- This wood/ core combo is particularly noted to demand an exceptional self-discipline Patronus Hummingbird? Occamy, a serpentine feathered dragon that can shrink or expand to fit their space. Hummingbird = Joy, adaptability, enjoyment of life, being present, independence. Amortentia smells like incense and woodworking, spices, red velvet, and roasted pine nuts. Boggart is some disgusting arthropod. The thing turns into a 8-bit version of itself and keels over and exploding into pixel-like blocks.
Gaming classes Glass cannons. The highest damage, physical or magical, and usually the squishiest character. Minimal survivability. Martial arts style Shaolin, with a bit of tai chi and judo thrown in because she's small. Is 100% comfortable fighting in skirts and eventually slight heels. This is what shorts are for ^_^. Dueling styleHer dueling is similar to her DnD and gaming: She like having two sets of options: Using her environment to set up techniques for reliable damage/ pressure as she picks and baits out an opportunity to unload. Back to pressure, then unload. Alternate as needed until opponent yields. This kind of changes in third year when she plays paladin and has to focus on protecting (and takes healing). She has a few defensive/ healing moves added, but is still very much about maxing damage. Straightforward, a la firebending. Still prefers fast, fire, disarming. Blended mid-close range. By fifth year she can totally do fire punch.
Lyrics to use Come, my love, our worlds would part The gods will guide us across the dark Come with me and be mine, my love Stay and break my heart // Time won't follow the path we came The world you left, it forgot your name Stay with me and be mine, my love Spare my heart the pain "Tir na nOg", by Celtic Women https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhW1mh7U6-U (Past graduation + Post vampirification)
Original personality set
CONFIDENT Aidene has never questioned her ability, and believes her martial arts and magic makes her dangerous. She's can be snippy or blunt, but doesn't try to be rude.
CRAFTYAidene passes the time primarily by creative design: drawing outfits, then cutting paper and cloth to make them for her cloth dolls. She enjoys making things--or helping to make things-- with her hands, like food or clothes. She’s also very fond of sharing these works, as long as she has enough for the next project. Her favorite memories are about food and warmth of family: father’s smile when he came home to find she’d made food--even if was just instant noodles.
IMAGINATIVE In addition to making doll clothes, Aidene enjoys making her dolls play out stories. Sometimes she reenacts stories from mythology or fiction with said dolls, sometimes she makes her own. She used to make up stories about how her missing mother might be the descendant of ice fairies or something. Those stopped, and recently, there’ve have been dolls that only survive one play session before being thrown into the fireplace. Either way, she's sometimes more rooted in a fantasy world than the real world.
FUN LOVINGWith athletes of all kinds of games in her family, Aidene has a great appreciation for fun, games and sports of all sorts. She talks about life in video game terms-- “EXP”, “levels”, “stats”-- and while usually fairly distracted, if things are framed as games, she becomes a lot more eager to gather information or strategize. For video games specifically, she's more fond of watching than playing: she fried three game systems in frustration before her dad stuck to buying her dolls instead.
HONORABLEAidene tries to be an honor-worthy player in the game of life, even if for childish reasons. She loves it when people praise her for being mature or responsible or “a good sport” and holds herself to a high standard even if other people don’t follow it.
✄STRENGTHS ■ Resilient-- “If it doesn’t kill you, it gives you EXP” is a constant phrase in her household. ■ Physically fit— she’s in remarkably good shape and very flexible.
🥢WEAKNESSES ■ Messy— she’ll make cute things, but it seems someone else will always clean up for her. ■ Procrastinates. As much as possible, in order to do fun things.

Schedule year 5
Generally: ~Usually wakes up at 22:00 and If she wakes up early somehow she'll spend any time before curfew is done in the kitchen or running/ flying around outside catching up with friends. ~Goes to Potions/ Astronomy/ Club, maybe out to the Forbidden Forest to hunt, then spends midnight to 3-4am studying. Prioritizes being able to cast the spells over studying theory. ~Usually crashes by like 4 in the morning.
Playing notes: This half year is HARD because she can't wake up or stay awake long and has to worry about feeding. She isn't working on arts and crafts outside of a fun drawing for Mythology or History or an occasional cooking attempt. Aidene gets very good at managing her few hours very fast (by February) and treats it as a game to maximize whatever stats she can in limited hours.

SATURDAY: Enjoys hanging out with younger students on the couch and using her dolls to illustrate something from Mythology. She'll get to work once they go to sleep. Always finishes her homework before sleeping.
SUNDAY: Wakes up ~20:45 and catches the last carriage out with Professor Whitethorne to meet Ves. If she misses it she'll send an owl/ charmed piece of paper. Otherwise, spends the time studying and training.
OWLs
CORE Astronomy ~ A ← usually E
Astronomy was the only class Aidene could really share with her father, a squib, over the breaks. She knew he loved stargazing and would eagerly share everything with him. Turns out it also served as a great review over the summer months. But given that Astronomy was also one of the few classes she could see her friends, her focus was more on her friend list than the lessons.
Charms ~ E
Charms was like DADA for Non-combat mode. And as far as Aidene was concerned, it was the best class to pick up spells and spellcasting technique in. With much fewer waking hours, Aidene started incorporating more spells for more efficiency in her everyday vernacular. It wasn’t quite enough to boost her from her usual Charms performance, but it did help with review. Plus even if she couldn’t attend class, she had to try extra hard for sweet Professor Shoichet!
DADA ~ O
Aidene was impressed by Professor Cohen from day one and thereafter sought to always make what Professor Cohen might approve of as “good choices”. It was no secret that for much of her first three years she wanted to join whatever faction Professor Cohen was surely a boss of. Inciting a combination of paying attention, extra studying, and fangirl enthusiasm, DADA was undoubtedly Aidene’s strongest class throughout her time at Hogwarts. It also helped that DADA spells also fit well into her combat interests.
Herbology ~ P ← usually A
Aidene had mixed feelings about Herbology: Herbology could be useful for cooking, but it was also a mess and she hated any bugs or creatures that might hang out around the plants. Professor Hill couldn't compare with Professor Cohen or Professor Shoichet, but Aidene thought he was a very effective and fair instructor and put in solid effort to pass his class and not be a distraction. Unfortunately, while she was usually pretty decent at working with plants and understanding what the plants could be used for, missing the last half year of class didn’t do any favors for her written exam or practical. She was very disappointed to not be able to continue Herbology at the NEWT level.
History ~ D ← usually A or P
Aidene would usually work on embroidery or some unobtrusive art project as she listened to Professor Powell’s storytelling. History hardly felt like a class so much as a fun story time, and usually her papers captured the rough narrative of the lesson. But Aidene also tended to make up or remember superfluous details about the history they talked about. While they made for creative essays, they did not help her marks on exams. Without Professor Powell’s classes, studying History was as frustrating as it was dull and confusing. Aidene put some effort into it on her own, but kept mixing information up, and her imagination took over more than usual. She was, though, more upset about disappointing Professor Powell or even August and the tutoring table than not being able to continue History.
Potions ~ A ← usually E or A
Potions were just like cooking, right? Aidene liked potions, but she also had a tendency to wonder how something might change the recipe and either intentionally or accidentally experiment. She learned a lot, and in a pinch she could do what was asked of her, but her answers weren’t always coherently expressed for exams. Given Professor Whitethorne’s class was one of the few she could actually attend for the last part of the fifth year though, Aidene managed to put a good foot forward in Potions, even though her practical still carried her grade.
Transfiguration ~ D
For half of her first year Aidene somehow still called Transfiguration “Transmogrification” or “Transformation”, which just about summarized her relationship with this class. While usually her imagination helped fuel her spells, in this case her imagined transfigurations were always a little off: hedgehogs were blue, mice were yellow with long ears, etc. She felt really bad for Professor Drage, having to teach her not only how to do the transfiguration, but how to properly imagine the desired animal and not a Pokemon. She didn’t fail completely because she could proficiently perform any transfiguration spells so long as they didn’t involve animals. Starting third year she started drawing memes for her homework, which at least gave her motivation to complete said homework. This greatly helped, but drawing memes on her OWL exam probably did not meet the same approval or understanding.
ELECTIVES Cursebreaking ~ A
Although she only took the class because Professor Cohen recommended it, Aidene grew to think of Cursebreaking as a puzzle game-- and she loved games. Generally better at breaking things than she was at breaking curses, Aidene was determined to be able to take the NEWT and put many an hour into practicing and controlling the spells and devising strategies for identifying and countering curses. Unfortunately she just wasn’t very articulate about writing about them.
Healing ~ A ← usually A or E depending on assignment
Another elective Professor Cohen recommended, Healing was something Aidene had a very inconsistent relationship with. In general, her spellwork was precise and practiced with as much effort as she put into her Charms or Cursebreaking. But her studying and her understanding of theory and healing knowledge depended heavily on what unit they were studying. Not having the class to learn in greatly hurt her written examination. But Healing was also Vespera’s best subject, and after seeing how hard Ves worked at her DADA NEWT for her, Aidene started trying harder in Healing; this effort doubled again following her death in winter. While this newfound dedication might have paid off if there was more time, Aidene wasn’t quite able to get the E she wanted in time for OWLs.
Mythology ~ A ← probably O in understanding
While Aidene had the same problem with History in making up details to fill in the myths, she had a miraculously better time keeping details in line with the existing myths--perhaps due to growing up with a fascination with mythology in art and gaming. Before her vampirification, she frequently acted out scenes with her dolls for younger students. Aidene found Professor Harlowe’s classroom very calming, and was actually always on top of her homework, especially once she found out Professor Harlowe was fine with memes, illustrations or even the occasional outfit design or recipe as her homework submissions. Early fifth year she got obsessed with the Founders of Hogwarts and started a whole project around that on top of writing a Celtic mythology DnD campaign. While definitely engaged and always learning from the class, Aidene wasn’t the most traditional student, and having to sit down to take a quill-and-parchment test never helped. Furthermore, due to how much less waking time she had as a vampire, Aidene couldn't afford the same abandon and focus on her artistic projects, which particularly hurt her in the spring semester.
Wandless ~ E
While her wand was great for detailed charms, Aidene took Wandless as an extra perk in her combat arsenal. The fact that Professor Cohen recommended it meant she was extra motivated to do well, and the fact that it might have saved her life in winter meant she didn’t slack on her practice afterwards. She kept up practice by working it into her training at Fite Club, but with all the other OWLs to self-study, she slacked on studying theory for the written section.
----------------------------------------- Note: Aidene was turned into a vampire over the winter break. Spring semester was a lot of recovering into her new life and testing new boundaries. For reference and NEWT-level considerations I’ve included what her usual grades probably would have been based on her effort and performance in classes. She would have to request for teacher approval to continue with Potions, Cursebreaking and Healing at the NEWT level.

NEWTs
CORE Astronomy ~ A
Aidene took the Astronomy NEWT class solely because she could actually be awake for the class. She relished her time outside, but honestly spent most of her time outside staring at the stars, thinking of mythology or making up stories. She understood enough on the exam and was awake enough to pass, which was about all anyone could expect.
Charms ~ O
As one of her spellcasting classes, Charms enjoyed good practice throughout the years and sixth and seventh year was no exception. A strong base in wandless magic made NEWT Charms more approachable. Even though Aidene generally wasn’t particularly fond of studying theory, for spell theory she made an exception, interested in anything that could help her hone precise and powerful casting.
DADA ~ O
Professor Cohen. Enough said. Death couldn’t stop the fangirl; NEWTs sure weren’t going to.
Serious take, if needed: DADA was always Aidene's best subject, in no small part due to her fervent fangirling of Professor Cohen. Her spellwork was well honed and definitely the strongest part of her arsenal, but Aidene didn't skimp on strategy either and studied well on the properties, weaknesses, and habitats of any dark creatures.
Potions ~ A
Potions was never Aidene’s preferred form of magic--she definitely preferred spellcasting--but before her vampirfication she enjoyed slipping potions into baked goods, and she could always see the use for potions. Her imaginative spirit that made her great at improvisation in the kitchen was, unfortunately, not so appreciated in the potions lab. Potions was, though, another class Aidene could actually be awake for and there was no way she could study poorly or goof off in Professor Whitethorne’s class after hanging out with her for weekly duels or hunts or flying around.
ELECTIVES Cursebreaking ~ E
After seeing how many of her cursebreaking spells were applicable to dueling or combat, Aidene approached cursebreaking with a new lens. Having to study for the exam without the class sucked, but it did force her to better focus on the spells. She sometimes wasn't able to solve a puzzle efficiently, but she never gave up, and every spell was cast with precision and exactly controlled power.
Healing ~ A
Having a resistance to most spells made Healing a lower priority for Aidene, but she still did her best to learn the subject in case it would be useful to protect her non-vampiric friends or in case she did get hurt. She is still not a reliable source of theory of healing, but she can reliably do magical first aid and patch someone up until a proper mediwizard or healer arrives.
Mythology ~ E
Aidene had actually learned a lot from Mythology and her discussion analysis was always surprisingly insightful, but her assignments were usually done in some creative format that was not particularly conducive to written exam formats. With encouragement from Professor Harlowe to at least take the NEWT seriously and the creative aspect of the exam though, Aidene felt honor-bound to do her best. She had plenty of experience putting on little shows with her dolls in the Ravenclaw Common Room as "studying", and once she saw the exam prompt, she spent the preparation time quickly designing outfits that would represent the characters for her retelling of the Deathly Hallows myth.
Wandless ~ O
Getting killed after losing her wand had a fortunate side effect of making Aidene very keen to “git gud” at wandless magic. While she very much prefers her wand, Aidene has trained diligently every night since her Turning so that her wandless magic was not only excellent in dueling, but also for everyday use. Aside from extra practices on her own, there were always a few days set aside in Fite Club for combining wandless magic and martial arts. She faced the practical with calm confidence and, as she'd learned very painfully, didn't hold anything back in a fight--within the guidelines, of course!
--
(Also just for lols: )
For her final in-class mythology exam, Aidene remixed a bunch of stories into one elaborate conspiracy myth with influences from video game stories for her papers. “Thor was buddies with a guy called Star Lord, a nymph called Tree and a rabbit called Racoon. Wizarding myths don’t mention the rabbit much.” She probably deserved a T because she was definitely trolling. Her exam was hilarious to read. And she included memes and illustrations. For one question about the values of the Founders of Hogwarts, Aidene instead drew a series of quick sketches of what she decided were the founders’ clothing aesthetics, labeled with notes like “Faux fur panel lining with tiny claw decorations because Helga Hufflepuff was a sweet softie but also mess with her and GAME OVER”. It was a fun last hurrah that (sadly?) wouldn’t be reflected in her permanent NEWT grades.
